i started this series with the Spider-Man episode, so i totally missed that you were the monster designer for Oblivion through F4

As a freelancer, Simon, I try to be as honest as I can to people. I worked on Skyrim and Fallout, so people assume that I've just "made it" in life. But the truth is that everything is always hard, always, hahahah

You've got to be one of the most analytical, thoughtful artists whose work I've ever encountered. I couldn't imagine a better dude to give life to so much of Adam Adamowicz's breathtaking Skyrim concepts. Loved the Elden Ring episode, too. I'm learning a lot about design from your videos.

I love marvel movies and lore. Jumped on board from the movies. Never really read comics, but now I listen to comic recaps online on TH-cam. But after seeing this series I just ordered this book based solely on this series☺️. Great work.

Pretty lit. Your presentation is great as well. Also, on the point about art in video games, I remember someone at Bungie pointing out how players, "just run past all the level design," and then said something close to, "don't appreciate it enough." I'm paraphrasing and perhaps misremembering the intent, but still...I get it. Although, I don't think that's an excuse to not do quality work. Scaling down is different than just not putting in the proper effort though. Anyways, I think it would be cool if you drew Kitty Pride. Maybe with her phasing!

Hey Jonah can show us the same process on Zbrush ...like how to approach the anatomy . Maybe do a series , for example make a winter soldier's arm step by step etc. all in all your artwork has inspired me to look anatomy from a different pov . Thankyou so much and live your work 🫡.

I have always been both confused and intrigued by Cyclops. How exactly does his anatomy work and how WOULD it have worked had he not been in the car accident that messed up his ability to 'turn off' his powers. The light from his eyes makes it impossible to actually see his eyes, and what color they are. Now that, That would be some interestingly cool anatomy.
He's actually in the book! I give a detailed breakdown of his cyclops visor, and then explain his eyeballs and how they work!
@@JonahLobeDraws Fantastic! I thank you sir. I only saw after I posted to you that these were months, not days old. I chide myself for that. I did not expect a reply, so this is fantastic of you. I will have to look for it. When I was in high school I would use the Marvel compilations of characters to practice with. Also magazine advertisements, and art calendars by Boris and also Julie Bell. I no longer draw, I do personal desktop publishing and merge and blend for desktop wallpapers. (my hands shake with neuropathy) So to see your images up close and personal would be amazing. And the realistic anatomy is encouraging to me. Massage Therapy was what I did for 27 years, so to blend anatomy, comic characters and some Si-fi-fantasy! So exciting! Thank you again!

I liked the thing you did with the mask between 10:07 to 10:17 where it looked like a flat one colour mask to something legit that felt like the real deal
Thanks Luiz. As ever, it's a gradual, layer-by-layer process, but sometimes one particular layer (a lighting layer for instance) can do an outsized portion of the lifting, eh?!

You do know that if you were actually dealing with the real Matt Murdoch and trying to depict his skeleton he would have micro fractures that have been. Healed over and over and overgain for the amount of beans that he's taken over the years. I mean, i'm surprised he doesn't have like a steel plate put in his face right now.
I would LOVE to do a Star Wars coffee-table, along the same lines, if possible. And DUDE I wish I'd heard that suggestion when I illustrated this... you're SPOT ON, I should have shown micro fractures all over, it's totally in character and would have looked really cool.

I keep seeing flashes but I’m not sure. As a screenwriter, it really warms my cockles seeing someone not just track their process but also their self doubt - I came for the art, but I’ve stuck around for the life lessons. If Daredevil were in DC he'd be a Green Lantern. No fear is the reason rings choose a partner, no brainer. DD would look silly in green though, to bad he couldn't get a Red Lantern ring, Frank Castle would get that one. That would be a cool crossover, Lantern Rings crossing over to Marvel leading DC characters to the 616 to get them back.
A crossover like that would be amazing. I think he'd summon some REALLY big guns...
@@JonahLobeDraws Imagine Thanos with a Black Lantern Ring. That could be a cool one-off storyline in itself. He would be able to control Death herself, if Thanos knew about the DC universe and that ring he'd stop at nothing to get it.

I did not unfortunately, though I helped the Lead Designer design a tattoo! But yeah their art style is absolutely unparalleled in its cleanliness and originality. Truly a vision.

Yes I did work on Skyrim! And Fallout! And yeah I have the same issue - I overload with detail. Kickstarting my own comic later this year and I’ll be focusing on simplicity!
Whats the name of the several anatomy books and any other books you recommend when making a comicbook and thier characters?
"Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" is probably best for comic books, and maybe Michael Hampton's work?

I like the small bear stump. Make it look like he is a man of action who don't really takes breaks to self care.
I was about coming about how his nose proberly should be broken to give that boxer look. But some quich reaserch and it easy to treat so no, also it would proberly make it harde being a lawer

that's cause a lot of the original turtles comics were heavily inspired by daredevil

Nah. It would have blown his cover way earlier, if he had facial scarring beyond the eyes.
That has even been adressed a few times in canon, how Matt uses magical ninja meditation to accelerate healing.
Such as the one time when he was set on fire in an attack from Typhoid Mary.
His skin recovered from extensive 2nd degree burns in 1 day.
His har still looked like shit though.

He is also a highly nimble fighter, who is granted further superhuman abilities from his training in magical comicbook ninjutsu.
Agile enough to sprint along along loose wire. And fast enough to dodge or deflect bullets in mid-flight. So he doesnt get banged up all too much.
... Except for times when he decides to punch too far above his weight. Such as against the Hulk.
Or at least he used to be, before he was nerfed, to match the Netflix version. Who is really just insanely skilled, but otherwise human.
But even that version is supposed to be using the healing meditation technique.
