      SAMTB I ordered a AF mid May and it lobbed at my shop yesterday . Took a long time but considering I’m in Australia and there is a global pandemic I’m cool.i went metal . Unfortunately the bikes turn up in a zillion pieces unbuilt. Should get it tomorrow but I called in to check it out and it’s so well made and the frame is stunning . I subbed to follow your journey . All the best , Mick

      @@mickfromrocky ,Hey Mick, It's worth the wait!!! Congrats and welcome to the family!!! Not too bad a wait considering the next expected big shipment isn't until October for lots of folks that have ordered here in the states. 2 months and I'm still loving the bike! I'm headed to Florida in the morning for some crazy swamp riding.

    Yeah ibis ripmo is the bike I really want. I'm thinking about buying this bike once the corona virus is over. I should of bought it for my birthday. May 12 was my birthday happy new bike day.

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kekoa Haslop , hey the bike is amazing!! Order it now, there is a backlog from DVO delivering shocks and they are holding bikes from being built and shipped

  • @NDemanuele1

    I was contemplating the AF, but got the V1, NX build instead. I already upgraded my brakes to SLX 4 piston and couldn't be happier.

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Norbert Demanuele congratulations on the new bike. It’s such and awesome bike!! I have a feeling I’m upgrading my brakes and transmission system to Shimano pretty soon. Thanks for the comments

    • @NDemanuele1
      @NDemanuele1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SAMTB Eventually, I'll upgrade my drivetrain. I'm not sure which direction to go, stay with SRAM and go to GX or Shimano XT. If I go with Shimano I need to buy an adapter for the Cassette.
      I run XT on my Ripley and it's awesome, I just wonder if GX would suffice?

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Norbert Demanuele , I’m leaning towards the Shimano XT, I keep hearing how they were designed to shift under load and that’s my biggest “wishlist “ feature. The one connection point is an added bonus

    • @NDemanuele1
      @NDemanuele1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SAMTB I'll probably do the same.

    • @NDemanuele1
      @NDemanuele1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SAMTB BTW, you're currently running NX? What do you think of the shifting? I notice it is not very crisp under load. And when I recently went down a chunky descent the chain went down a few gears on the Cassette.

    Great choice. Excellent value! The NX will be fine. What camera are you using..colors so pretty. New sub!

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trail Lady MTB hey thank you for the Sub!! Appreciate it big time. I’m using the GoPro 7Black and adding a little contrast and saturation in Premier to get it to look as close to the live colors I’m seeing.
      I love this Bike!! I think in time I may upgrade everything to the Shimano XT set up but for now I’m going to ride it as is and just enjoy the ride.

    How are the wheels on the bike? If I’m not mistaken, they are ibis s35 alloy wheels, and I’m looking at getting them for my bike. Also, what width of tire are you running and how is the tire profile?
    Sick review!

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Aiden, The Wheels are the IBIS 35 mm aluminum version. So far so good. I have the Maxxis Assegais 29x2.5 EXO+ and they are a perfect match. I've got a full review on them coming out on Tuesday. Short Story...They're awesome together, like PeanutButter and Jelly

    One more question, is the handle bar stem a 40 mm or 50 mm length. I need to pick one for my Ripmo AF.

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jim, If I was you I'd talk with my LBS and see what they recommend. These bikes are made to be customized and dialed into your specific fit. The more you tweak and adjust to your ride and fit, the better it will feel and ride for you. That's a long answer for "it's really up to you"haha

    Is there any fast flowy Singletrack in Pigsah? This makes it seem like all double wide multi use trails. Congrats on the bike. Just picked mine up. I think the new Deore Spec is wayyy more quieter.

    Great review, I subscribed. I just bought one in grey today. I have the option of stem length and crank length. What length did you use for stem and cranks?

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jim, Thanks for the Sub & Congrats on your new bike, you're going to love it!! I have the 170mm dropper and 175mm cranks. If I ever upgrade to a Shimano XT Groupset I'd probably go with 170mm cranks to get just a tiny bit more clearance on the peddle strokes. Just a personal preference I'd consider.
      Enjoy your new beast!!!

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jim, Thanks for the SUB, The crank length is usually related to the frame size. The small and medium usually have 170mm cranks and the large and extra large have 175mm cranks, Personal preference and ride style usually dictate the better choice. If your in a mountainous area and you have to climb a lot, the long cranks will be better for you, more leverage.
      As far as the stem lengths, I didn’t have an option when I purchased my Ripmo, If you’re unsure about sizing on the stem, Id reach out to Ibis, they are open and easy to chat with for things like this.
      Congratulations on the New Bike!!! It’s a happy day!!

    Weird, this bike is listed at $3300+ whereas the Vitus Mythique VRX is in the low $2000s. I don't think they're really comparable.

    • @SAMTB
      @SAMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Andrew, Thanks for watching the video and for your comments!! Here are my thoughts. The video came out a little over a year ago. at the time the Ripmo AF was going for $2999 and the Mythique VRX was $2500 here in the USA. So they are pretty close in price. In terms of components, performance and GEO they are very comparable.
      Since this video release I've had a chance to spend some time on the Mythique, it's a champ!
      I'm still glad I purchased the Ripmo but the Mythique can go anywhere and do anything the RAF can.
      I have a VRX review coming out in a few day and I'll cover the basics.
      Bottom line is, these bikes are comparable and I look to se how well the VRX hold up one the next years riding

      Hey Seth, where are you located? I would reach out to Squatch Bikes and Brews in Brevard, NC. They sometimes can work a miracle. However I am hearing the same time line. If you are looking for a V2 Ripmo (carbon) you should have some luck if you’re not picky w colors.
      Try Squatch first. Their number is 828-877-2453. Good Luck

      @@SAMTB Thank you. I will. I live in Richmond, but go to Asheville for work every now and again. Great city. Thanks again. I've narrowed a new ride down to the Ibis AF and Canyon Spectoral AL... but without testing out myself, I'm just going on reviews.

      @SAMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seth Sweetser hey you should demo the Ripmo, even if you demo the new V2 Ripmo you’ll get a good feel for the bike. Not sure what you can do with the Canyon being they are direct to consumer,other then check their website for demo days and pray there’s one in your area.
