really enjoy your videos - great analysis tools - their clarity and perspectives must be a huge positive ; hope someone gives you a lead [sorry my cat doesnt foil]
@@SamuelLanghorn great question. a few options: mischa heemskerk recommended to me sanding foils with coarser grit (eg 600 or 800) the colder the water. that helped, but not entirely. smoother sheeting and better body weight management can help aa well. finally when switching to exploder and their foils i saw biggest improvement. so i am concluding that foil shape has a huge role in this. even in these smaller boats vs americas cup multiyear foil tuning
@@flyinggorilla ...Switching to "exploder" what is exploder? a specific foil type? sanding: in one of my first books in competitive sailing I took note of the comment to give the hull and foil a little texture so that a thin water film can build up.... I did not know that there is a relationship between coarseness and temperature?
@@SamuelLanghorn 1) exploder is polish boat maker who also creates foils. their A-Cat foils ventilate less likely than the ones in the video, as theirs have a slightly different shape 2) salt water is heavier and less likely to ventilate than fresh-water 3) while cold water has also higher density, the issue is increased viscosity that can cause sooner ventilation. hence the coarser grit should help the flow stay attached.
@@flyinggorilla ok, verstehe. Schoene Gruesse vom uebern Teich Sam

Ok, now you know that they ventilate,..... what do you do about it?
