I honestly love these videos because you rarely steer me wrong and I always find a new book I can’t put down plus sometimes you just want to read the same kind of content so having a few in a list is just perfect, definitely grabbing a few of these recs!

All of these comparisons are SO excellent! I love how you didn't just go with similar plot points or anything, but you considered the vibe/atmosphere/other considerations and talked about how they were similar as well as how they are different. I particularly thought the comparison between I'm Glad My Mom Died and Yolk was brilliant. Adding so many of these to my TBR!

As someone who read both Daughter of the Moon Goddess, and Six Crimson Cranes, last March, one after the other -- YES, absolutely. I LOVED both of those books, and they were so much fun to read so close together. And now both have their sequels out! I'm excited to read those, too! Thanks for the recs!

YO THANK YOU. it took me FAR too long to find a POC book tuber which is important to me because we tend to read more diverse perspectives and authors which is what i’m looking for! all the other recs were from not very diverse perspectives. these recs were sooo good, thank you girl!

I love this! Also I would recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi alongside Pachinko & The Vanishing Half. It’s also a multigenerational story that starts with two half sisters. I loved it so much! And since you loved those two books you may want to check it out!

I really like this video. I love how you took time to make it more complete by trying to link different elements. Really makes me want to read all of these books! As a bookseller, I love having the ability to compare books to other books, or to other media. I've heard Jade City described as The Godfather, but with ninjas, for example, and honestly I yearn to be able to give such descriptions. Thank you for this video, I'ma be subscribing to you now.

I’m not sure if you’ve read Celeste Ng’s other book, Everything I Never Told You, but a book with a similar vibe is A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza (bonus it’s about an Indian Muslim family!). They’re both intimate family stories that explore different perspectives of each family member and the messy, complex relationship they have with each other. I was sobbing at the end but it’s so worth it

I would have never paired Yolk with I’m Glad My Mom Died but you are 100% spot on and I loved them both. I can totally see the correlation.
I would pair The Vanishing Half with Passing by the way 😊

Why do people highlight/post it tab fiction stories? Like I feel like I understand why but at the same time I don’t. I just read Sword of Kaigen and the quote “You lost your right to my obedience when you stopped being a man!” Was awesome, powerful and just amazingly said at a great point in the book- but I didn’t need to mark it up.
I’m not making fun of people but I just don’t understand how people can use a whole pack of tags and/or highlight 75% of a page. Like at that point just reference the entire book.
    So can somebody enlighten me?

For me personally, I like going back to the books I have already read and annotated and just go through all the stuff I’ve annotated.
It’s just a nice feeling seeing what I thought of a specific part of the book at the time I had read it, i don’t really know how to explain it but it’s kind of going back in time?
I just simply like the feeling 👍
