- We enjoy a warm Spring afternoon getting the PM Rush Hour trains at Temple University and Jefferson Station. All kinds of trains are seen and you can count on my usual objective analysis of the action. We see 6 “Bomber Trains” and plenty of Silverliner V’s. Did I overlook something? 😀😀. Passenger Services Representative Althea was at her best announcing trains at Jefferson.

Great video of the septa rail fanning if you’re in Philadelphia you should take the fox chase train to the end of the line and go check out the Rockledge model railroad museum. They have their open house this Saturday April 13 from noon to 3 PM. Also the anniversary for the 10 year at the location.
Tim, I have a gut feeling when Amtrak retires their ACS-64s these will all be on SEPTA rails when their Silverliner VIs make their debut!!!
I was living in Delaware County when Market East Station (now Jefferson) first opened. It's still one of the most beautiful underground stations I've ever been in. The problem is that the attached shopping mall, once a bustling place, has fallen on hard times.

I have the ACS64 and Comet Coach sets in HO Scale. Nice to see them running. I loved the IIs, IIIs, and yes, the IVs. I did not like the Vs at first because they were replacing the Silverliner IIs. Riding a set of Silverliner IIs and IIIs on the Trenton line at full speed was cool with the sound of the motors. Got to admit the IVs did a wonderful job when Vs had their “vacation”. lol
I respect your opinion. I have many reasons to love the Silverliner V’s
glad to see the main line get its bombers back! for a while only 9591 was running with a bomber set. hopefully trenton gets them back at some point, they replaced the express with an MU set recently.
I hope later on they bring back the Express to Torresdale Local to Trenton, no Eddington and the Local to Eddington, express to Trenton
The Silverliner IV's look and sound so much better then the V's, they out performed the Budd and St. Louie cars to. Septa really ignored the operating crews with the design on these cars, especially with the partial cabs. Septa could have very easily provided live video feed for everyone on the train to view. Nice video.

Not a fan of the Silverliner 4s I take it haha. So fun fact, here in Denver we actually have our own Silverliner 5s, RTD uses them for their commuter rail service to the airport and on a few other lines. RTD's also have K5LA horns on them along with bells, they actually look comically huge sitting on top of the silverliner cab. But having ridden on them a few times, they are quiet, pretty comfy for an American commuter train and ride very smooth, right up there with the smoother riding British trains
They also have full width cabs that the Philly versions don’t. They originally wanted to put full width cabs in those. The train crews wish they had.
they still have K3LAs. but yes, they have a full width cab with no windows at all from the inside and a different throttle handle setup as well as general cab layout.

You can’t go crazy worrying about things like that. I feel pretty safe in the station when I’m there.

They never inspired me. There was always something better out there. 25 years ago I yearned for the Silverliner 2’s and 3’s. Today it’s the 5’s. One must appreciate the 4’s durability. I’m just big on aesthetics and I love a good horn but
the 4’s don’t have it. It’s good to vent to relieve stress and I guess they are one of the victims.😀😀😀😀

I find your objections to the SL4s to be rather amusing. I used to ride them all the time during my days in suburban Philly and never had any problems with them. Is it just the horns?
The horns, the appearance of the cars. They just never turned me on. There was always some equipment out there past and present that was better. I enjoy satire and that has seemingly become a target of that. 😀😀😀😀. I love the 5’s very much. Many people disagree with my affection towards those things, but it is what it is.

So I was just watching one of your videos for your your retired rail fan horn a guy videos and I'm watching this one God damn I'm just like you I just I cannot stand those mechanical monstrosities known as these septal sliver liner 4s for something those things are so hard to look at it I'd rather be looking at the New Jersey Transit emus
Nice to have a lot of support. Some people criticize me for it. I lost a subscriber over it. No big deal. I more than made up for it. Humor and satire are part of my repertoire sometimes
you just keep doing what you're doing you know what I agree with you what you just said SEPTA silver liner 4s are not beautiful cars the only thing that can make those cars look better if they were put through a compactor that those cars are not reliable like you said I thought you said do 50 year old cars and they're not rebuilt and they have those s2m horns I'd rather be hearing a k5la horn or a Westinghouse aa horns those silver liners fives are better looking cars and they have those nice sounding k5la or k3la horns

Those 64s, get one-tenth of the use, than the Amtrak ones. Weekday only for a route or 2. Waste🫤
They just don’t seem right for that kind of a service.
