shes not really living on her "own" she didnt buy the land shes on, her parents did. They live there too, in a house that has system electricity, water and sewer. Shes not in some remote place. She lives not far from a large town with a grocery store where she buys most of her food and supplies. The "tiny" house is 20 feet from a large insulated home.

When you were discussing how you were living in the city and wanting to live a more simple life with more time to do things you enjoy, it really reminds me of how I am currently feeling about life. Also when the kitten knocked over the basket, it was so cute. I also loved how you said that you believe that animals come into your life for a reason. That is so so true, I could not have asked for anything better than the dog I currently have. He has come to mean so much to me, and helped me through a lot of tough times in the last 6 years I have had him. Thank you for the reminder that the life I want to live is attainable, as long as I have the will to work toward it.
I don't know why people feel shame to monetize videos. You share an important part of your life, (which is already a challenge and also sometimes can be dangerous) through a lot of hard work not only for the good content also editing is a pain in the a..ss TH-cam is a chance to receive what you deserve and that is , feel proud of your excellent work and enjoy too what you earned.

Isabel, I’d just like to say thank you. When I became ill and spent a long time in hospital with my neurological disorder, your videos brought me such peace. It was always my plan to live simply like you, but my body has other ideas. Now I’m being careful not to push myself and walk too far for risk of suffering respiratory failure again, and dreaming of past foraging trips and wondering how ill pay for the cab to my next hospital visit. It’s funny how quickly life can change, so never take a second of your day for granted lovely one. A great part of Isabel's success is obviously do to a very kind and successful family. I find it comforting that she claims that this place will always be her home near her family. If she ends up taking care of mom and dad in their old age, that would be precious! The amount of "space" her dad gives her to make her own mistakes and learn is just awesome!

I'm finally watching this older video and understanding how you got to where you are. I can't believe you were only 23. I would never have been brave enough to go after my dreams at that age. I don't even think I knew what my dreams were back then. It's so refreshing to see young people breaking the mold and chasing a meaningful life. I wish I had done that when I young. I got my certificate of permaculture design this past winter and would love to share some of my knowledge if you have any questions! in my design course I learned how to read a landscape based on existing vegetation (every plant is there for a reason, whether it be burdock or japanese knotweed or crabgrass.. etc. *and "invasive" plants are really strong signals of what's going on). also, a lot of permaculture is using available resources and building on what you already have. in the case of planting trees on 'raw land', well you might want to bring in herbs, trees and shrubs that will definitely grow even without irrigation or fertilizer; these plants should be nitrogen fixers and nutrient accumulators that will pave the way for other plants and trees to thrive. there is so much hope and opportunity in every space, and often the 'limitations' are great guidance for learning what plants will thrive in the existing conditions. :) don't hesitate to reach out!

I appreciate you opening up and giving clarity on some topics, I always had that idea too that once I'm living in my van id be happy, once I'm a momma id be better, once I have my farm i'll be set .. so far I've made it in the van :-) but the older I get, the more I realize like you said, staying present and letting life happen, not forcing things to go your way, allowing things to come together as you mature, and growing along the way is key. Life isn't a race. It's to be enjoyed and savored. wherever you go, there you are.. the grass is only green where you water it. I hope you pursue your certificate in welding. I've been welding and fabricating for 20 years now and love it! I'm now getting interested in building my own forge and playing around with blacksmithing. I think it's really cool to see young women doing jobs that are traditionally held by males. Never let anyone intimidate you into not pursuing this.

When you go up into those mountains at least carry a police whistle just in case you get hurt. The sound will carry a distance. Learn the SOS code and blow that over and over. Also a good small flashlight. That opening shot makes it looks so remote. Even though you said you had neighbors but didn t say how close. Hopefully, close enough to hear a whistle!!! @@reagan6743 - either way - when’s she us up on those mountains and she gets hurt she might not be able to get to a “close neighbor”. Best to be prepared!! I carry a whistle every time I go out in my kayak. It s attached to my life jacket which is on me.
She has immediate neighbors within a few hundred yards both up river and down river. You can also see the valley (other houses) in some of the uphill hike shots and drone shots. The bridge is shared by four addresses. There are five families that live in that section (one house is empty but owned). The other three are active families. The top of the hill she climbs is national forest.
The calm of these videos and the drive to create really is both inspirational and encouraging. I really enjoy seeing a self-sufficient and resourceful young person (yeah, I'm old) and gives me hope. I also don't understand the detractors nor should anyone pay them any heed. Thank you for sharing this wonderful content and inspiration with the world. Plus the cinematic value is also really impressive as well. Truly enjoyable to watch these videos.

I am a german girl living in France and before covid I thought about moving to Sardegna.Than I gave up the idea thinking it would be too complicated and expensive and totally unrealistic ... May I ask you how you proceed ? Legally and practically ? In France living off grid is almost impossible, a struggle and so many problems to get there (nothing like in Canada or the US). I joined the off grid community May 5th, 2020 thanks to, what turned out to be, a negative COVID isolation. I finally fully dove in to my dream in my 16’x24’ tiny house by a river near the ocean. Your videos have been a huge inspiration because your videos and hacks are SO on point. I’m also vlogging my major turning points. So much to do and not enough time to do what’s necessary. But it will always be there and we’ll get there when we get there. The most humbling and rewarding thing ever! Wish I had a done it at your age, 25yrs ago. You go girl!! Isabel, my husband is a welder. Just bear in mind that there is no protective clothing good enough to save you from the effects of the fumes produced by welding. There is certainly some protection. But despite his best efforts, my husband still suffers from the effects of his welding days. I recommend, if you go into welding, don’t do it for a long time, like, don’t do it for decades. That way, you will mitigate any negative health effects. Just something to think about. I say this, not to dissuade you, but from a place of caring. I think we need more tradespeople, and it is a grand thing that you are thinking of going into a trade. Just be careful!

Toxins build up in the body, so medical advice was to take a break from work every three months to give the body a chance to recover. Not always possible, but knowledge is power and provides an opportunity to mitigate the negative effects from the get-go. I mean, really, there are no positive physical effects of welding, only financial and the satisfaction of creating something concrete. Again, I am not saying this to dissuade anyone from taking up the trade. We need welders and the trades are essential and deserve much more credit than they receive. Hey, good luck and all the best!
My dad was a welder he passed away in the end of June. He had trouble breathing I am sure it was because of the welding fumes. He said he felt like he had holes in his lungs also the different metals have certain toxicity. Like for example he mentioned that welding copper made him feel very ill.
@@MsVirtualexistence Is there any sort of respiratory apparatus that could be used to protect one from the fumes? I'm not thinking of a filter, but something more like a scuba set-up. Particulates can be filtered out, but actual fumes are another matter.

shes not really living on her "own" she didnt buy the land shes on, her parents did. They live there too, in a house that has system electricity, water and sewer. Shes not in some remote place. She lives not far from a large town with a grocery store where she buys most of her food and supplies. The "tiny" house is 20 feet from a large insulated home.
Isabel, YOU DESERVE all of the success you are having! You took a coffee shop and grocery store job to make ends meet $$. You learned a lot and have grown so much this past year. AND YOU NEVER GAVE UP making videos when things got really hard for you. We all admire and our proud of your strength and resolve. When you were discussing how you were living in the city and wanting to live a more simple life with more time to do things you enjoy, it really reminds me of how I am currently feeling about life. Also when the kitten knocked over the basket, it was so cute. I also loved how you said that you believe that animals come into your life for a reason. That is so so true, I could not have asked for anything better than the dog I currently have. He has come to mean so much to me, and helped me through a lot of tough times in the last 6 years I have had him. Thank you for the reminder that the life I want to live is attainable, as long as I have the will to work toward it.

Isabel, I’d just like to say thank you. When I became ill and spent a long time in hospital with my neurological disorder, your videos brought me such peace. It was always my plan to live simply like you, but my body has other ideas. Now I’m being careful not to push myself and walk too far for risk of suffering respiratory failure again, and dreaming of past foraging trips and wondering how ill pay for the cab to my next hospital visit. It’s funny how quickly life can change, so never take a second of your day for granted lovely one.

A great part of Isabel's success is obviously do to a very kind and successful family. I find it comforting that she claims that this place will always be her home near her family. If she ends up taking care of mom and dad in their old age, that would be precious! The amount of "space" her dad gives her to make her own mistakes and learn is just awesome!

I'm finally watching this older video and understanding how you got to where you are. I can't believe you were only 23. I would never have been brave enough to go after my dreams at that age. I got my certificate of permaculture design this past winter and would love to share some of my knowledge if you have any questions! in my design course I learned how to read a landscape based on existing vegetation (every plant is there for a reason, whether it be burdock or japanese knotweed or crabgrass.. etc. *and "invasive" plants are really strong signals of what's going on). also, a lot of permaculture is using available resources and building on what you already have. in the case of planting trees on 'raw land', well you might want to bring in herbs, trees and shrubs that will definitely grow even without irrigation or fertilizer; these plants should be nitrogen fixers and nutrient accumulators that will pave the way for other plants and trees to thrive. there is so much hope and opportunity in every space, and often the 'limitations' are great guidance for learning what plants will thrive in the existing conditions. :) don't hesitate to reach out!

When you go up into those mountains at least carry a police whistle just in case you get hurt. The sound will carry a distance. Learn the SOS code and blow that over and over. Also a good small flashlight. That opening shot makes it looks so remote. Even though you said you had neighbors but didn t say how close. Hopefully, close enough to hear a whistle!!! @@reagan6743 - either way - when’s she us up on those mountains and she gets hurt she might not be able to get to a “close neighbor”. Best to be prepared!! I carry a whistle every time I go out in my kayak. It s attached to my life jacket which is on me.
She has immediate neighbors within a few hundred yards both up river and down river. You can also see the valley (other houses) in some of the uphill hike shots and drone shots. The bridge is shared by four addresses. There are five families that live in that section (one house is empty but owned). The other three are active families. The top of the hill she climbs is national forest.
The calm of these videos and the drive to create really is both inspirational and encouraging. I really enjoy seeing a self-sufficient and resourceful young person (yeah, I'm old) and gives me hope. I also don't understand the detractors nor should anyone pay them any heed.

I joined the off grid community May 5th, 2020 thanks to, what turned out to be, a negative COVID isolation. I finally fully dove in to my dream in my 16’x24’ tiny house by a river near the ocean. Your videos have been a huge inspiration because your videos and hacks are SO on point. I’m also vlogging my major turning points. So much to do and not enough time to do what’s necessary. But it will always be there and we’ll get there when we get there. The most humbling and rewarding thing ever! Wish I had a done it at your age, 25yrs ago. You go girl!!

The intention behind permaculture is to lessen your dependency on external resources and producing what you need on site. So about the irrigation and that tree - what you want to do is look at keyline designs and plant your trees on contour lines so that they naturally get irrigated from the rain. Isabel, my husband is a welder. Just bear in mind that there is no protective clothing good enough to save you from the effects of the fumes produced by welding. There is certainly some protection. But despite his best efforts, my husband still suffers from the effects of his welding days. I recommend, if you go into welding, don’t do it for a long time, like, don’t do it for decades. That way, you will mitigate any negative health effects. Just something to think about. I say this, not to dissuade you, but from a place of caring. I think we need more tradespeople, and it is a grand thing that you are thinking of going into a trade. Just be careful!

Toxins build up in the body, so medical advice was to take a break from work every three months to give the body a chance to recover. Not always possible, but knowledge is power and provides an opportunity to mitigate the negative effects from the get-go. I mean, really, there are no positive physical effects of welding, only financial and the satisfaction of creating something concrete. Again, I am not saying this to dissuade anyone from taking up the trade. We need welders and the trades are essential and deserve much more credit than they receive. Hey, good luck and all the best!
My dad was a welder he passed away in the end of June. He had trouble breathing I am sure it was because of the welding fumes. He said he felt like he had holes in his lungs also the different metals have certain toxicity. Like for example he mentioned that welding copper made him feel very ill.

@@MsVirtualexistence Is there any sort of respiratory apparatus that could be used to protect one from the fumes? I'm not thinking of a filter, but something more like a scuba set-up. Particulates can be filtered out, but actual fumes are another matter.
