Wow, never thought there is such a controversial discussion about a recipe.. Now i will blow your mind, because i´m a german, married with a turkish muslim girl and we both fall in love with middle east food. After ten years we are still in love, eating stuff like shakshuka, traditional german food and some ottoman style dishes - must be a miracle... MAKE FOOD - NOT WAR - DON´T SPREAD THE HATE!

Shakshuka originated from Tunisia and well known throughout North Africa and the Middle East, with each country possibly adding or subtracting one or more ingredients! My favorite breakfast dish , i am Greek I add a lil feta cheese on top it! Delicious!!

In South india we have porotta and in North India there is paratha both basicly the same but different for the pwople because is it characteristic to them. The turks and greeks believe dolmha originated from them armenian say it them and even india states the same. Lets look at the japanese and Thailand they both have curryes but it dosent change the fact that its origin is india. in my household the tomatoes must be peeled, the garlic is whole , and don't add bell peppers. also major thing the pan must be big and low (flat?), not a a pot. my mom slow cooks it for like an hour (almost like Matbucha) . it's insanely delicious. I sometimes add salty cheese. I'll start adding parsley it looks good.
I am from India, and I got to know this dish when I visited Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, and over there it's a famous dish served with salad, hummus, pitha and it's called Israeli dish ❤️

I like the Iraqi version better (with eggplant instead of union). And especially the Jewish-Iraqi variant - with Diced Mushroom added. Eggplant gives it chewiness and the union sweetness is totally redundant. And this is coming from an Israeli.
No, you can see the onion and then peppers have been softened. Also you shouldn't ever brown garlic for longer than a minute if it's going to be cooked in a sauce.

Its NOT a Tunesian dish. Its sephardic (Spanish Jews that settled in Northern Africa). They still live at Djerba Island. The original name of that dish is huevos kon tomat. Tunesians stole it from the Sephardic Jews.
