I've never seen it explained like this. Gonna do this and get back to you. Cheers!

Really creative way of explaining light attack weaving with music theory! Good for practice. Is this why I like listening to music while playing this game?

For me, the weaving feels completely disconnected from the music I listen to, since it'll never be in sync with the music. But maybe for you there is a connection, who knows.

This really helped me understand weaving and the timers - do you think you could explain in another video how to implement this into a rotation? I dont know if its the adhd or just lack of understanding on my part (im pretty new to dps) but i keep reverting back to button mashing when i put all my skills back on. Should i just add one skill at a time and practice that way? Is the base rule to always light attack between every single skill activation or are there some instances where you wouldnt light attack?
Also, on console, it seems like the skill isnt reliably registering as clicked once i get around 170bpm. its probably mostly user error because im still practicing but im wondering if its impossible to get much higher bpm on console because of latency? Sorry for the long comment, this is just the first video thats actually helped me weave better!

Yes, add one skill at a time. Going back to the musician analogy, a common way to practice a fast section is to perfect just two notes, then just three notes, and you add one note at a time until you have the whole section figured out.
First, perfect your weave using only one skill. Next, perfect your weave using only 2 skills (one spammable and one DoT). Not only should your weave be perfect, but your DoT's uptime should also be perfect.
You should always light attack before a skill. The only exception off the top of my head is if you absolutely must block something in a raid/dungeon, but on a parse dummy you should try to hit every single light attack.
I'm not familiar with console nor controllers, but I know console players do parse at 275 to 290BPM.
It seems to be possible to weave faster than your ping. I don't know how that works exactly, but people with 200 ping have been getting a weave average of less than 1.07s (meaning they have a delay of 70ms between each attack. The fastest parses are at around 1.04s, and you can't really go faster than that)

@@the-postminimalist this is super helpful, thank you! I think I just need more practice in that case. I’ll come back and update on how it works out for me/how high of a bpm i can get it to

Ok this is good but I have a question:
For skills like Elemental Weapon, it should be pressed BEFORE the light attack. Does the same still apply, or should I light attack first then go into the weave?

      It's still all the same.
Light attack (first one will be blank), followed by Ele weapon (this queues up your next light attack to be beefed up), and then 800 millisecond pause.
Light attack (beefed up from your last Ele weapon), followed by Ele weapon (queuing it up for the next light attack), and then 800 millisecond pause.
Your ele weapon buff stays on you for 2 seconds before it goes away, and you're intending on casting your light attack 800 milliseconds after the skill, so it's all good.
Unless you're pre-buffing for a fight. You never light attack when you're still pre-buffing all your stuff before entering combat. Like when you're getting all your DoTs ready, and then you can get one cast of Ele weapon ready before you start the fight. But this is not specific to Ele weapon, this is just how pre-buffs are accomplished with all your skills that don't instantly damage the boss.
