2:22 only in xcom will a kill shot avoid the person standing in the open and hit the guy behind cover instead.
This game is the best because in this way because its realistic that who gets hit is rather random.
If you had shown this video to an 11 year old me back in 1994 when I was completely addicted to this game and scum-saving every single turn out of fear and excitement, my little head would've blown up just like the Alien Brain just did. 🤯
I would of called you lame. Take a wonderful game like this and make it a 6 minute waste of time. What a loser.

Back in a day, it took me weeks to beat this game, this is nuts!
The kidnapping mission is like a half of this speedrun, and alot of it is RNG. I guess this is where time might be improved even more, with a bit of luck.
The soldiers appreciate the plasma research but would also like to put something useful between their skin and alien rifles.
No room in the budget for Personal Armor, used Rookies instead

1. There is no further need for UFO detection after the Medium Scout Ground Assault, and dismantling the radar prevents all notifications about nearby UFO's, saving many seconds over the course of the run.
2. Ignoring a Terror Mission results in a 1000 point penalty but aborting only incurs a 30 point penalty for each of the 8-16 civilians (max. 480), and Game Over occurs when two consecutive Monthly Ratings are less than -900 on Beginner difficulty. Aborting a Terror Mission costs 1-2 seconds and can be ignored every second month.

I love the later missions with the battleships, you go 2-5 turns then hear an explosion, then multiple aliens dying overlapping each other lol

How do you identify your targets when shooting through floors and walls out of sight?
It depends on the situation. You can see the pulsating silhouette of the Brain in the shadows with just the cursor, but lining the shot up on the ground and using the scroll wheel to change floors is also possible - also the minimap is useful to quickly locate enemies

It's rare but I've bit hit by heavy plasma's in the first mission many, many times over the hundreds of runs I've done.

I only could tell it was fake at 0:13 seconds into the video, when he 'teleports' the Skyranger (a very slow ship) to the small ufo un less then 5 seconds, No interception phase. How can you even shoot it down with no weapons on the skyranger? And its over WATER soo.. what 'land' do you have to even combat on? ships shot down over water, are just destroyed. And, it's a "Landed" battle scape not a "crashed" battlescape. the Clock advances 2 hours whilst the highlight never slips off of the '5 secs' button. If its not a Video cut, itsa hack.
The Skyranger doesn't teleport nor does it shoot the Medium Scout down, it chases the UFO to a landing site near Hungary, which you can see by frame advancing from 0:13 and again at 0:38. I'll admit that I never noticed that the game speed doesn't change from 5 Secs to 1 Day, but I use the same technique at the beginning of every run - you can watch the full session in the link in the video description.
Medium scout at the start of the game always lands, just depends on if you see it doing it. I always just send the skyranger after it. If it doesn't land, that just means you didn't detect it when it was doing so. The clock deal don't know. I've had the game bug out in many, many ways.
Skyranger is sent on an interception course at 10:01:15 Jan 7th. The mission starts at 12:45:05 Jan 7th. It took it two and a half hours to catch up with the UFO, and the aliens have landed in the meantime. The game interface barely follows the speed with which the buttons are clicked, but such is the nature of speedruns.

extremely fake, at the first purchase of HWP rockets you could tell, 1 click = 25 units... "oops, too many" 1 click down and its 24... sure.
@@SantinoDeluxe The initial base has 40.8/50 storage occupied - the BASE INFORMATION tab rounds down to the nearest integer but you can confirm this by right-clicking an item that occupies 0.1 storage each, such as the Stun Rod. Next I sack both Interceptors and sell all available Stingray and Avalanche Missiles and both Cannons. Exclusive to OpenXcom all equipped craft armament are returned to your stores when the craft are decommissioned (it is all discarded in the original) which would overload the storage space and prevent any purchases, but that reduced space is offset by selling the missiles and cannons, resulting in 23.0/50 storage occupied. Next I purchase two Tanks/Rocket Launcher (6.0 each) and by right-clicking HWP Rockets (0.6 each) I have exactly enough space to purchase 25 rockets. I want 6 Stun Rods (0.1 each) so I left-click down once to vacate the desired space.
You can easily confirm this for yourself since this run uses default advanced settings (except invert drag-scrolling and enhanced soldier sprites) as it's literally the very first thing I do in the run. I have no problems with explaining any strats I use in the run, but kindly refrain from throwing around potentially damaging accusations.
@@willbobsled admittedly i dont know openxcom, only the original, i came across your video because i tried to play the remakes again and remembered why i didnt finish them, i like the original strategy game play better. i thought you video looked interesting but i came into it without context.
i dont remember right click to fill being a thing... but ive been wrong before. i didnt expect a response but its appreciated. let the records recognize my alt name is 'mono', it means 1, single signal, 1 voice... 1 opinion... easily disregarded. dont take me too seriously. have a good one.
