  • Amazon CloudFront Origin Access Identity (OAI) is a simple function of CloudFront distribution that you can enable when you select S3 buckets as origin. If you don’t use an OAI, the S3 bucket must allow public access.

Hello, what I think is the best solution in this case is something called CloudFront caching behaviors within a single distribution. You can then configure different cache settings (path patterns) for *.png files within that distribution. You can find more information here - docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/distribution-web-values-specify.html#DownloadDistValuesPathPattern.
I'm using this approach in one of our blog posts - www.stormit.cloud/blog/cloudfront-distribution-for-amazon-ec2-alb/#cache-behaviors-cloudfront. But I would really need a better understanding of what you really need to achieve. If you are interested in a consultation, please contact us here - www.stormit.cloud/contact/
