Awesome video, it's really refreshing to see some nicely edited footage from your average ( not sponsored by red bull to run 40ft falls in a costa rican rain forrest ) kayaker. Keep up the good work! Also what song did you use for the first segment? I've had it stuck in my head for weeks now.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Sometimes I don't get notifications on on comments and I miss them. Thanks a lot for the positive feedback. I'm finding that lots of people enjoy following a normal paddler with normal progression. It's awesome to be able to share the journey with fellow boaters. Thanks! I've been on hiatus for a year and a half. I pushed myself harder than ever in my last season after coming back from shoulder surgery. Injuries and physical wear and tear were starting to compound too quickly so I took a break. I'm still trying to get the footage edited from that last season. Cheers!

I see in this vid you are using a different kayak. What boats have you progressed to and from and which are your favs?
How are these not class 4? Looks like really strong currents, waves, eddys you can get stuck in, and big drops. Can anyone clarify, is this really just class 3?
I was thinking the same thing. Usually people over classify but these class IIIs look way bigger than what I have around here in central nc.

Good opening...well edited. Couple tips a noticed, you need to face more upriver whole trying to ferry across. You end up farther downstream sometimes during the video. Take a stroke while going through holes and bigger waves, keeps you balanced while going through. Other than that solid kayaking, great watch.

Great video, as always. Like another viewer mentioned, it's cool to see well edited videos from your average paddler. I've watched you progress at a similar rate to myself, though you seem to be ahead of my progression. We must be fairly close, geographically, based on the rivers you run. I believe I've seen some familiar faces in your videos, as well. I'm wondering if Nancy (toward the end of this video) is the same Nancy I met at Week Of Rivers in North Carolina. If so... she's awesome. Always fun sharing campfire stories with her.
Thanks! I really appreciate the good feedback! I live in Maryland. Close to the DC area now. And yeah, that's the probably the same Nancy. She goes to Week of Rivers every year! I love paddling with her. Great friend and awesome paddler. I'd say lets link up at WOR this summer but I'm currently having some shoulder issues that I don't think will be resolved in time for me to go. I did make it to WOR last year and it was amazing. The southeast has so much to offer.

Great videos. How did you get such a good slow motion from a go pro?
Thanks! Glad you liked it! For the slow motion I set the GoPro to Pro-Tune 1080p @ 60fps then I used a frame-blending effect in Adobe After Effects called "Pixel Motion" to create additional frames and stretch the slow-motion out even further. I think GoPro Studio software may offer a similar frame-blending effect.
