Stunning pen and the colour! Enjoy it and I am looking forward to you personal pen video. Please keep showing it to us from time to time to enjoy it with you.
A classy Classic, and it's your money and how you spend it is your decision. Today i bought a Chinese cheapo and had second thoughts after placing the order. Now I am at peace. Thanks for a thoughtful review.
Whether a pen is 'worth it' or not is so subjective that it's pointless to enter that discussion, as you say. What I see in this video is a well made, high quality pen, which is good looking too. That's great. Would I buy it? No, but who cares? This is a piece of artwork by a man who has forgotten more about fountain pens than I shall ever know, and I hope you enjoy every minute of owning and using it.
Dr. Brown, love your content, both you and your wife. Usually my primary reason for scouring this app in the first place. I totally get the expense dissention... But I tend to "justify" such an epic purchase with the accompaniment of a few needful/necessary must(s)... That that "business end" (i.e. the NIB) better distinguish itself as a thing no other merchant can just rebrand and it too-readily be as recognized as just another "rebranded" bargain-basement point any other could easily undercut in offer. The moment I saw that "incredible" NIB... it's worth it, so totally worth it at any price. I am so over these bouquet "artisans" that spin and turn a few bars/rods of "resin"/acrylic/plastic/what-have-you and now all of a sudden, ta-daaa!: a multi-million peso "museum-piece" (in limit release, has to be make it more desirable, lol) is unearthed... For me... I love a great finish and a nice size luxury writing instrument (fountain pen), but for me, it must check the box: nib first... all that other later... and least, in most cases... Because at the end of the day... it is the unignorable allure of that point on paper that is the deal-maker/breaker. Plastics come and go....
That is the first pen box ever that speaks to me. Wow. Is this the perfect pen for you? You've been enamoured with it for a good long time now. Thanks to you I've found what may be the perfect pen for me (Toronto Pen Co. modified Pilot Parallel), at least for the short term. My thirst for the new and the shiny seems slaked, at least temporarily.
All that counts is that it was worth it for you and you are so obviously not even remotely disappointed. Beautiful pen and you are fortunate to own it. Great review.
It *looks* like the material started as an adhesive (rapid bonding liquid) for bonding acrylics to other materials, like a protective coating for pipes. I'd love a materials expert to clarify. If it were actually 'bullet proof,' working it must be a bear, so maybe that's why the price is so high?
LOL! I had good laughs during this video. A real stunner of a pen and I’d try to get one but can’t afford it. Enjoy your pen. An early Christmas present eh?
🙁 I will never have an LB5 and it is a bit sad. I love that pen but...yeah. If they're available at all they're multiple thousands of dollars and that's not something I will likely ever be able to spring for. The LB6 looks lovely too, I just prefer the visuals of the LB5.
if you are reading the comments before watching the video please swallow before you get to 12:00 because after you hear the price you may spit all over your device when you find how much this pen cost ... your welcome
I remain the porcupine at the piston-filler balloon party. A good quality converter is more reliable, easier to clean, easy to replace, less likely to malfunction, and can hold nearly as much ink as a piston--just my ornery, difficult, contrarian personality showing its annoying pathology. We are simpatico in this one.
if there is one downside inherent with the standard international C/C system is that ebonite feeds are really, really difficult to make and break easily because of the tail needed for C/C systems.
It is a beautiful pen indeed, hope you enjoy it thoroughly. I suspect that a resourceful Nederlander like yourself may not actually pay the full freight for it. On the other hand, it is "only" about half the price of a recent version of the Namiki Emperor that I saw on yt.
That's over 364,000 Japanese Yen!!! And I've replayed this over, a couple of times now, and I can't for the life of me find the bit where you describe the outrageously cool, proprietary piston filling system?? Bugger all, why would you edit that out man?
@@sbrebrown Indeed, it is a beautiful pen! I hope my inane comment caused no offense! I do really enjoy your channel and appreciate your wit sir! Cheers
What a stunning pen!! That red - WOW! MB CPR - perfection! Merry Christmas to you- and thanks for sharing it with us, Stephen.

Gorgeous pen -- a work of art. I love the color, the facets. Looking forward to the personal pens video. Your singing sounds wonderful. Enjoy it!

Love the colour, I can paint that for a few pence, though. Meanwhile, I'll keep loving the old Parker workhorse....

Catching up on the videos now I have my laptop back, I love this pen and it was a good choice you made getting this one. :)
Was I told right that corn pooppy red is discontinued? what other alternatives are there?
Has anyone lost themselves drifting off like the material was moving on its own as he was twisting the pen?
Enjoyed your perspective on everything :D i liked this pen from day 1 and it stayed this way, on other models it has been like in your case.

Bummer to not have a Sailor nib

One could buy a cheap used car for the price. It's such an amazing work of art, though...
Darn it! Must I return to being a ball point user!? LB 1-8 aka teasing edition pens.... ;)
my God for a minute there I thought "what's Adele doing reviewing fountain pens"...
Don't know what it is but in this video, sound seems to be faster than light; I heard ya before your lips moved to the words. It's a bit unsettling :)

Tis also the reason why I think pilot’s C/C system is the best.
@@Alsry1 Yes. It is sturdy.

You pay for the handmade artistry, not for the filling system.
