Personally, I wish the Travel Banters were voiced.
Yeah, same @Duckiefasca
However, I will cut them some slack since there are a tonne of recorded lines as is.
Do you prefer the sequel over the original? - Anthony
@TheBetaNetwork I can agree with that. I understand that you can't miss the TB anymore as they auto log into your journal, and you can read them at your own pace. As for your question, at the moment, 1 is still my preference, especially since I'm only partially into the Ch 2 stories. It terms of music and gameplay features, I definitely enjoy 2 more. We'll just have to see how the storylines end for our travelers
@@TheBetaNetwork honestly the sequel has several improvements over the original
1. Combat feels more dynamic and tactical
2. Each character is written to be very compelling
3. Water travel makes the map more accessible
4. Locations are designed to be more memorable
@@pattonramming1988characters interact with each other in battle so they actually seem like friends,
Crossed paths exists also
So true
"I wish the main plot was more universally connected"
*Ori has left the chat*
I have to say, I do like that in both Octopath Traveler games it's not really the case. It's not a common thing to do in video games, but it kinda feels like a D&D game, where each character has its own quest to deal with, unrelated to the quests of every other character, and just in the end you find out the DM managed to connect them all to some major apocalyptic event that the whole group has to stop! :P
So yeah, the way the Octopath Traveler games tell its story, as unconventional as it is, it works for me! :)
They probably hadn’t gotten to that part yet 😔
@@ChevaliersEmeraudeAlso like D&D, a majority of your party is just tagging along with one guy/gal's storyline for the heck of it and tearing apart every fight with a chaotic jumble of other classes the DM did NOT expect to snap the tone in half!
If Tears of the kingdom wasnt coming out this year, this game would easily be my personal goty.
Hahaha! Yeah, that's a tough one to beat 😅 @catatonic165
Still, it's such a great game! The darker tone in some paths really struck a chord with me, and the battle system is just as addictive as ever 🔥 - Anthony
I think some people could argue that after it’s release, this one could still be in the running 👀
I think Tears of the Kingdom definitely deserves game of the year (unless Starfield blows all of us away) due to it just literally being an improvement to a game that was basically already nearly perfect, and the new ideas were so incredibly dynamic and innovative there is just no way it doesn't get Goty imo. That said personally, RE4Make is my personal choice for AAA Goty while Octopath Traveler is still my non AAA Goty choice. All in all 2023 is a year with insane releases and I honestly couldn't be happier.

The game is Amazing but not enough agains't bg3
i think star ocean got it😅😅😅
Yo, give Ha’annit a break. 😂
Hahaha! I just had to 😂 @spiderdude2099
Are you picking up the sequel today? - Anthony
Seriously, how did the hunter's hometown go from advanced Shakespearian to "food good. Ochette hunt good.
I thought I was the only one hating on her dialogue 😂
Waiting for Chrono Trigger to be remade with HD2D like this… it’s LONG overdue being that octopath 3 is already in the mix.. oops; violated NDA there 😂
I will say, compared to the first game, this one's better at setting up its interconnected final chapter, with said final chapter being excellent.
I agree! @aegisScale
If they make a 3rd one, I think they should centrally try and tie the eight stories together. It may be difficult in terms of writing, but I believe they can pull it off!
What do you think? - Anthony
H'aanit was my favorite character from Octopath 1.
She was one of my favourites too @zerofragment3417
I just thought the writing was unintentionally hilarious, that's all 😂 - Anthony
@@TheBetaNetwork Maybe so, but that's probably one of the reasons she was more interesting than the other characters, who all seemed much more generic by comparison.
Dragon: *appears*
H'aanit: "oh dear me; whateverest shall I do with thou, whom'st mean me most bodily harm upon'st my person."
She's the best though seriously 😂
She never says that and your screen name is vulgar, so I'm not even going to take you seriously enough to finish th@@buttpiratesbuttpirate5913
octopath traveler 1 was a masterpiece too
I will not hear this SLANDER against best huntress.
😂😂😂
Never grinded a single time in this game, a huge improvement from Octopath traveler 1
Your comment makes me want to buy this game. Loved the first but was too grindy for me and I have less time now. But if you can beat the game without grinding, then I'm in!
@@Kwizii came back to Octopath traveler 1 after finishing the second because my girlfriend is starting it and damn, it seems like a beta ahhahaha the graphics improved so much
@@Kwizii of course you need to level up a bit for the final boss but it's just for abilities and class points, absolutely nothing compared to the nightmare of OT1
Phenomenal game. Great year for sequels!
boss battle backsound really on fire!
i just want a 45min in-depth discussion video of Octopath 2 😢 lol
We don't make videos that long 😅 @user-ol6gi7np6y
But I did publish a review article with my extended thoughts, if you're keen on reading? - Anthony

Wish my childhood game legend of legaia would get a remake, miss that unique game
Been having a lot of fun this game so far (only about 10 hours in).
I never knew people disliked Ha'anit's voice lol. Glad I always played with the JP voice so she sounded pretty badass.
Not the voice itself, but the way Ha'anit is written @Danorpx
It feels so discount Shakespearean to me. I don't know how else to put it 😂 - Anthony
Just finished the game. not much changes on the gameplay but the story was way much moving on this one. Really hard to move on to another game for weeks since I was too attached to the characters. music is superb
I loved the first game, but I absolutely live this one. This ahs to be my favoyrite game of all time. The music, the gameplay, the story, the characters, the art-style, the voice acting, everything about this game is just perfect to me. I don't even like most JRPGs, but something about this game is different. Castti and Osvald are probably tied for my favourite fictional character. I sincerely hope that we get a third game eventually.
It would be phenomenal if they could connect the games 1 and 2 somehow like they have in Xenoblade, although I'm pretty sure it's already canon that Octopath 2 is just a few hundred years after 1. I'm also entirely content with just more Octopath in general because even as a new standalone plot, we'll be getting a full package of phenomenal music and intricate turn based gameplay.
bosses were far from having stacked hp, not counting the last boss & even more so, the secret boss
Been neglecting octopath 1 for all these years. Classic 2D JRPG is my favourite by I can never imagine paying full price for that kinda graphic 😅. In the end get a good price for it as a 2nd hand in local store. Definitely hit the sweet spot as a classic JRPG for me. Love it 🥰
I know what you mean @maxcavalera9797
It seems like it's not worth the price because the graphics feels outdated. However, once you start playing, that feeling goes away super fast.
Glad you're enjoying Octopath Traveler though, as these games are so much fun to play! - Anthony
Just the quality of life stuff alone, like the dialogue autoplay and the 2x battle speed option, make it that much more enjoyable than the original
I totally agree! @OrchidAlloy
Do you prefer the writing/story more in this game than the original too? - Anthony
Why does this game look so goood!!! Have never played but definitely will
It does look fantastic, ey? @alextyler5631
The 2D-HD style has definitely been refined over time through their many different iterations of these graphics (Triangle Strategy, Live A Live, Octopath Traveler).
Have any other questions about the game? - Anthony
I'm tired of yall disrespecting H'aanit
She will always be the queen no matter what
... awesome!
eeehhh, I loved throne as a character, the story skills etc, but i started my first one as osvald and goes get throne second cause both can steal. the story and cinematic of the HD-2D is too good to pass on.
Lmao I knew I wasn’t the only one getting tired of reading Hannits weird dialogue 😂😂
Nope, you certainly were not-eth 😂 @danielhung3744
How are finding Octopath Traveler II compared to the original? - Anthony
Man ya trippin...that huntress was fore with that language!!!
I could not-eth resist-eth 😂 @jesusalonso2179
Domi have to play the first one to play this one?
Would've left a like if it weren't for the H'aanit slander
Hahaha! It left that much of an impression on me last time, that I had to let the people know 😂 @oscarsfilmpjes1222
Do you like the writing in Octopath Traveler II better? - Anthony
500th like also throne is the best starting hero
It's oddly satisfying capping off a round number, ey? 😂 @U.S.S.R671
And yes, I completely agree! She was my starting character, simply because of her stealing and night-time stat buff abilities.
Who were your first 4, by the way? Because I wonder if we picked the same ones 😁 - Anthon
Absolutely love Octopath Traveler 2! One of the best modern JRPGs. Octopath Traveler 1 was a masterpiece and Square Enix greatly improved upon it in the sequel. There are so many quality of life updates to the overworld and gameplay mechanics. I enjoy the dynamic battle system, water travel, and day and night path actions. Also, the OST is absolutely amazing especially the battle themes and boss themes. Great review The Beta Network!
Thanks so much! @deanenriquez1344
I didn't like the original as much, but the sequel is absolutely amazing! It's just so much fun to play and the story is a lot darker and engaging this time around.
And oh yes, the OST slaps harder than a critical hit with x4 boost! 😂
On a related note, are there any other games that you're looking forward to this year? - Anthony
@@TheBetaNetwork Hi Anthony! Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I really appreciate it. I agree! The stories for each character, character development, party interaction, and connection between all the stories make the game so amazing! Also yes! The OST is absolutely awesome, I especially love Critical Clash 2 (One of the boss themes).
Yes I am actually! Glad you asked. I’m a huge RPG fan, especially JRPGs. I’m definitely looking forward to Final Fantasy XVI coming out next month. I’m super excited to be able to play that game. How about you?
Sorry for the late reply, been running around like a headless chook lately! 😅
And no worries. I'm always happy to reply to people like you who are really positive and enthusiastic about games!
Ooft! Yes, you are speaking my language. That track is one of my favourites too, and I really like the main title theme as well 👏
Same here! Final Fantasy is my favourite JRPG series. In particular, VI, VII and X. So I'm very curious like you to see how XVI turns out. Especially considering that the combat is being produced by the battle director from Devil May Cry 5. One of the all-time classic character-action games, in my opinion.
Speaking of, are you okay with Square Enix going down the full action route? Or would you prefer Final Fantasy to go back to it's turn-based roots?
@@TheBetaNetwork Hi Anthony! Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me. It’s all good, whenever you have a chance to reply :) It’s great to have a conversation with someone to talk about video games and how amazing they are. It’s truly a work of art and I appreciate all aspects of video games whether it’s the story, music, or gameplay!
Absolutely love that track! It’s so hype especially when it seamlessly transitions from the character’s theme and into the boss battle. I would say Octopath Traveler does the best at this with it’s OST. Also your previous mention of the OST slapping harder than a critical hit with 4x boost was so good!
Same! Final Fantasy is one of my favorite JRPG series. Oh that’s awesome those are definitely good titles. My favorites are XIII, VIIR, X, and XV. Based on what I have seen from the trailers the gameplay looks fun and engaging. Oh I did not that the combat is being produced from the director of Devil May Cry 5. That’s an interesting fact.
For your question, I’m good with having Square Enix have a more action-based RPG. I feel it’s more modernized and dynamic for its story. I love all types of JRPGs whether it’s turn-based or action-based. My favorite JRPG of all time is Persona 5! This is a turn-based RPG and some of my other favorites include Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default just to name a few. I believe that in terms of the Final Fantasy Series I really like Square Enix’s approach to be more action-based. I would say it’s improved upon Final Fantasy XV from what I’ve seen for combat and gameplay mechanics. Especially the summons! I also like how Sqaure Enix develops traditional turn-based JRPGs and make it more modernized such as Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. This is my take of this. What do you think of it? I would love to hear your input :)
Oh wow! Such a thorough response, I don't even know where to begin 😅
I'll just respond in detail to the bottom part, otherwise our replies will be like 1,000 word essays 😂
But yes, same here! Love talking about all aspects of video games on this channel. Thought you might like that joke too hahaha! And oh, got some XIII love in here-don't see it often, that's for sure! Underappreciated, I'll say.
In regards to Square Enix being more action-oriented: I'm happy with where it's going too. Considering that they're still making those great games you suggested like Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default, Triangle Strategy and possibly even Final Fantasy VII Remake: Ever Crisis, fans of JRPGS still have plenty of turn-based titles to enjoy.
Persona 5 Royal was awesome! One of my all-time favourites as well. The style and music alone are top tier-going to be playing a remix of 'Last Surprise' at my wedding later this year too 😁
By the way, Sam and I are planning on creating a Patreon soon with a private Discord server where we can all chat, host an exclusive podcast and a poll where the community can vote on which upcoming games they'd like us to review.
Would this be something that you're interested in?
What a pixel game 😱
I it will be Awesome if the character is like From Zenonia 5 clean character image. But still amazing this game is 10/10. I don't like 3D. Not good. 2d, 2.5D, Hd-2D style. I like it. With an amazing Skills.
I feel violated by the sound of your saliva while talking.
Also there is galdera
A-yup! He is pretty tough to beat-and that's putting it lightly @teknosuperior8296
For those reading this comment: don't look him up if you haven't played the game.
-Major Spoilers inbound - Anthony
@@TheBetaNetwork I just tried Galdera in Octopath 2. I have fought him many times in the first game so I was not sure how much they were going to change him. No spoilers but yes, hes changed and good grief he is much more challenging!
Yep, he was pretty damn tough @thegazellion9920
He's quite a step up from the other bosses of the game. Not that they're easy though, that's for sure.
to me, Octopath is almost perfect in everyway, awesome battle system, music, art, ect except its boring and bad story
So sad The Best Turn-Based Rpg, Dissidia Omnia is Coming to End of Service. So I'm waiting this game now. To release, Global Version.

Did you find him? 😂 @Eiriansolum95
