My adjustable rear shocks on my motorcycle FINALLY make sense. So, let's say I have them set up for myself - nothing touched, Then, I add a passenger. The added weight means I need to increase the preload in the spring to hold the weight. But by doing this, I've made the spring REBOUND more aggressively, so I need to slow down the rebound (tightening it) to compensate for making it a stiffer spring. Otherwise, when the tire is "floating" over a pothole and there is no weight on the tire, that spring would slam back to the ground due to increasing the spring pre-load. The two settings don't just mean "more" - it's about making them work together. Fox, I owe you for this one.

Id love to get a custom shock made for a Bandit 1200 I've built into a ADV sport touring. Currently running a K8 Gsxr1000 rear shock, and it works, but clearly has no hustle off road (fire service type) loaded with camp gear. Ive looked at the Elka's but they are half the price of the value of the bike. LOL

I run the rebound in my rear shock super slow so I don't get bucked on jumps on all my bikes. 2 clicks or less from fully closed.

does a heavier rider need faster or slower rebound? my guess would be slower since more force is in the spring than with lighter rider but I don't know it that's the full story

so just to confirm when you say "Loosening damping" you mean Softening? and vice versa Tightening meaning Hardening the damping
