    Hi Adam - I live near Duxford , as a result I tend to go to a lot of the air shows (Gold Experience Tickets - every time) , well at my age I need a little TLC when out and about at events😀😁 , the Flying Legends are no longer based at Duxford they left after some 30 years at Duxford in 2020 - and relocated to Sywell, but have cancelled the 2021 and now the 2022 air show , anyway I digress - from the times I have been to said airs how - I can honestly say that the only thing missing on your video was the sound of the RR Merlin doing its thing, and the tannoy system playing Battle of Britain movie music.... awesome scale presentation - Stay well - Martyn

      Thank you so much Martyn! Oh what an experience it must be to see...and hear Spitfires up close and personal. I have seen a lot of airshows here and seen many Warbirds including P-51s...there is no sound better than a Merlin wound up and cookin'. Never seen a Spitfire though. Bucket list thing to do for me. I've watched hundreds of videos on them but it is not the same. I really appreciate the compliment my friend. I have been eagerly, and somewhat nervously anticipating the comments from everyone, but especially from our friends across the pond. Spitfires take on a whole new meaning for folks like you. So very honored you enjoyed it! All the best, Adam and Heidi

    I love the Spitfire and luckely we have 3 of them here at our airbase. The only thing is.... my wife see them more in real then I. 😭
    It is the plane that ruled my youth and the shape of the wings are the most beautiful you can see.
    And a model airplane should flying a close as the real one.
    Scalespeed, landing and taxing..... and you did it.
    I have the Arrows Husky now, bought while I like the scaled speed and that this was the plane who towed me, with my real glider, a lot of times to higher places. 😉
    Ordered the hinges of the Fun Cup and when they are here they will be placed on the Husky.
    Man.... you inspired my model flying, but I have a long way to go before I can fly the plane as you do.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel Yes I'm quite new to the hobby and loving it. I enjoy your detailed information. I also have and am now flying the Eflight clipped wing cub and setting up the Bison XT 1750mm for its maiden. If I may ask what dual rate settings and expo you use on both if at all possible please. Love the smoothness with which you fly both planes.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Shane welcome to the hobby! It is a blast! I don't use rates I just set the plane up the way I like and fly it without flipping switches. There is nothing wrong with using rates however, and they can be especially helpful when you are a new pilot. Consider the figures I give you what your "high rate" would be, and adjust your lower rates from there in 20 or 30% increments depending on what feels right to you. On our first episode we did a review of the Bison and our whole detailed set up is there on the set up page. On the Clipped wing Cub the rate is 100% with expo as follows - 20% Ail, 25% Elv, 25% Rud. The only axis I changed the servo travel on is the rudder, and it is at 150% travel. Ail and Elv are at 100% travel. Hope this helps and happy flying!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shanetalke468 Awesome Shane! Hey...better late than never! BTW...our Clipped Wing Cub is the pnp...we have a regular receiver in it. If yours is the bnf...you have AS3X, and there is some expo programmed in. Feel it out first. In all axis try and feel how sensitive it responds to inputs when you are smooth with your inputs. You want it to respond with small, smooth, deliberate movements around center stick, but it should be smooth and predictable to respond...not overly touchy. If you barely move the stick and it responds with a big movement...you need more expo. If you move the stick a tiny bit and it doesn't respond at all until you move it more...you need less expo. The plane should act like an extension of your hand...if you are subtle and smooth...it should be. If you are aggressive with big inputs...it should be aggressive. Take the time to test and adjust your expo until the plane feels that way in all axis. Do it in calm wind conditions so you know what your feeling isn't the planes reaction to wind. Make small adjustments...5 or 10 % at a time. The first time you do this its ok if it takes several flights. It is worth it. You will have learned an important part of "setting up an airplane". You will feel the difference a plane that is dialed in for you makes.

    Great vid. I have the Flightline Spitfire, albeit the smaller 1200mm version. I like your attention to detail e.g. the zig-zagging taxi as per full size due to the long nose preventing the pilot from seeing in front. Greetings from the UK where we do indeed love the Spitfire! Where I fly on the South Downs (an area near the south cost) we have a Spitfire based at a nearby airfield and it often flies while we are flying our models… the novelty never wears off! Grahame.

    Wonderful display of a beautiful warbird. I love how you make the whole flight flow smoothly and groove through the sky. (Now THAT is scale flight!) I have thought about getting that model, but I already have the little 1100 Durafly Spitty and while I enjoy the flying, the landings make me crazy. I can make a smooth wheel landing, but at some point in the roll out it nearly always starts a swing and a ground loop. My techniques for using up elevator and riding the rudder usually work for my other warbirds. But with the Spitty - even though I anticipate it, I can hardly ever stop it. And it usually gets a wing tip and then the prop. ( I've done a lot of teeth grittin over that! ) I think they put a bit more 'toe in' into that model than it needs. And once it gets more weight on one side, that wheel angled in the way it is can cut into a ground loop pretty easily. (All this is on asphalt.) I thought I would try grass to perhaps help, but that didn't work at all. With any forward speed. it went over on it's nose, full up elevator and all.
    I am wondering if the 1600 mm has it's wheels a little closer to being parallel rather than so much toe in. When you filmed, did you have any wind / cross wind to speak of? And last, I noticed that on your landing that you were not using any flaps. Any comment on why no flaps? Thanks again to you both for such a great little airshow!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks very much! I love to fly scale. On the no flaps...one servo is shot and I haven't replaced it. It will go down, but the wind blows it back up after a few seconds.
      So...on any Spitfire toe in is bad. On my 1.6 I have removed the pins (in the trunion that the oleos attach to) and Dremeled the flat spot to change the alignment. You want them as straight as possible. No toe in for sure. Makes a WORLD of difference. With my Durafly (the new Mk2) they were aligned pretty good so no issues. With my OG Mk1 Durafly I had to do a lot of work to get it right. I used a combination of changing the flat spot on the gear leg and washers on the mounting points to get them aligned, and retracting in the wells correctly. If yours is off, it is worth the work if you really like the plane.

    I knew I was forgetting something today.. Iv noticed some of your tricks in other videos for scale looking flight, Iv always appreciated them when I do notice. Almost anyone can throw full throttle and get a plane in the air. but when you take the time to slowly throttle up to make it look realistic, as well as other well timed and well coordinated maneuvers, it really becomes a mini airshow. Aside from just having fun flying Iv been trying to practice my coordinated maneuvers. It seems like that's what will make you stand out from other rc pilots. But maybe not. I'm loving this concept for videos! Not an easy task for some planes. And I like the concept for airshow routine style flights. It's kind of what I aspire to do for each plane type that I own. Create a routine for each that highlights the strengths or characteristics of a particular plane. The way airshow pilots do with their planes! Will we see a PT17 video in the future done in the style of John Mohr? I jest, I think.it would take me a year or two on the simulator to feel comfortable linking maneuvers the way he does with that close of proximity to the ground. Great Episode! Thank you!

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much my friend! Means a lot to me! Heidi sure did well too. I will find and order that book. Already have several on Spitfires but always room for more. Really glad you like the series! This was the first kind of flying I wanted to bring to YT when the idea to do a channel started years ago. You just don't see much of it done the way I personally think it should be...or the way I like maybe is a better way to say that.
      Wow John Mohr. That is a tall order and I've had it in mind for years. Bob Hoover and John are the best I've ever seen at energy management. I think I probably have the chops for it, but I don't know if I have the time. That one would take a big, great flying Stearman...wouldn't want to mess with it with a park flyer size, and it would take a good bit of concentrated practice. That is the toughest part. Doing weekly episodes and needing to provide variety would make flying one plane one way for a few weeks to gear up for it tough. But...never say never. If we get far enough ahead on episodes and I can ever get my hands on or access to the right Stearman...it could happen!

The attention to detail, the quality of foam, paint, lights, gear, wheels, you name it, superb. I have a pickup truck and bang every big plane or edf putting them in the back, or taking them out. There’s not a scratch on any of the Flightline’s. The runway in this video is pavement. Geo runways vary in price. Depends on size obviously, but also on the amount of prep before laying it down. To be done "right", the ground needs to graded and rolled. Then let it settle a couple of weeks, add fill dirt and roll it again. Then lay it down. We just graded and rolled it, then put it down...we have all kinds of bumps and undulations as a result.
