- Calvary Cemetery exits from the 1800s and contains the remains of many notable Jamaicans. The cemetery was once a magnificent place but had lost the care and attention it first started out with. Take a tour with me.

Nigel you are the man 👨 your review and informative info on the graves of people long gone is to be commended the day I saw you closed a casket of a man seem someone robbed and left it open is a sad disgrace. I have been following you and I think for a good reason you was born to do this privately i am sure many people continue to thank you. I wish you would wear a pair of gloves when you clean the stones to read the inscriptions. Your platform is very important to many keep up the great work you continue to do.
Nigel you are brave man touring all these cemeteries but even braver are the people who lives in these cemetery. One of my former coworker in Jamaica always says its better to be amongst the dead than the living
The dead is fine ,the living is the problem.
You are brave......thx for your courage
So much to learn from this grave situation. Look how Mr. Issa work hard and acquired so much. Owned so many high end luxurious properties and yet ends up with a mad individual living with his skull in a dilapidated cemetery. What is man
This is very interesting it seems like the Issa family were a prominent white Jamaican family
A lot of Issa's offsprings are very much alive. So shame on them
They don't go there anymore, they just cremate the bodies now a days.#Issa family
Hello viewer, thanks for watching. That is not the skull of Mr. ISSA. His crip in the mausoleum is untouched. However, the mausoleum is no longer safe and so the remains of Mr. ISSA, his wife and the others could be removed to a better place. Hope the ISSA family see this video.
Whether rich, poor black or white we are all mortal, and we must die. We must allow our life on this earth to leave a lasting legacy for others to carry on, and that is what the Issa family has done. It's shameful of our government to not keep the place clean and well kept. Neglecting the dead speaks alot about how we treat the living.
Jamaica Chapter, l have been to so many funerals at Calvary Cemetery. The Cathalic Church should pay some one to take care of that place. You have to a member of the Church. Alot of people back then were buried, with alot of wealth. You have grave robbers, who rob these graves. I usually walk on Lynhurst Rd. To go to School. You need to visit the one Orange St.Chinese Cemetry on Waltham Park Rd. The one on Elliston Rd. St. Andrew Parish Church Cemetery,Kingston Parish Church has some graves too, also inside the Church. If you visit all these famous Parish Churches, allover the island you wiil find alot of history. Nearby you have a private High School on Hesthfield and Brentford Rd. Thanks for showing, my grand mother was buried in May Pen Cemetry. Keep Up The Good Work. Blessings.
Especially the Elletson road one. I always wondered who was buried there
Thanks for visiting Calvary,it holds there memories for me ❤❤
I was born there Lindust road .I had great happy memories as a child. I think my great uncle is there .
Excellent video thank you sir. Uk.
Real history, you are doing great work, sir,I like wat you are doing.
Keep up de great work.Very informative.Peaceful.
When you thought of visiting these cemeteries and give us information on the condition of these resting places and graves of our fellow Jamaicans i really enjoyed watching your videos and I hope you keep doing these videos.
My old routh from Crossroads to Jones Town. This was a beautiful Cemetary back in the 80s.
Can I ask you where that cemetery location is

Thks again Jamaica chapter
Your videos are very informative this is the third one I have watched those graves of long ago
Did you hear the announcement about the upkeep to come . I am sure jamaica chapter had some influence. Thanks for your channel . Learning alot about people who passed, some I had no idea passed due to violence .
Thank you Mr salmon and jamaica chapter you're awesome bro thank you for your created contents, God blesd you and be safe
You are a brave man
Why do you say that
Merchado's rich and famous cigarette and cugar manufacturers didn't knew their nationality thanks for this info Bro.
They were either Cubans or Puerto Rican. Many of those families came to Jamaica as merchants.
Merchados is either Portuguese is Spanish. They had businesses in Kingston. Keep Up The Good Work. Blessings.
they are originally from Portugal,
Came from Cuba the same late 1800 period as the Palominos and others to start the Tobacco manufacturing in Jamaica.
Morning. Thanks for this video. I think you should do something to on the Old Naval Cemetery in Port Royal, and put pressure on our heritage society to make it a heritage site.
Great job. Mr Nigel have you ever seen any of the quiet people
Watch the video of May Pen cemetery and you will see one looking up at the sky.
This is a disgrace, my God the government of jamaica 🇯🇲 need to take the prisoners to clean theses cemetery
I agree…
Cemeteries.Thing of the past.We need our earth.Ashes to ashes
Very informative, i am interested if you found any more Palominos there ?
For i am related, they were a part of the tobacco and cigar manufacturing history in Jamaica with the Gores and Merchandos.
Yes, indeed. See the video I did on the graves at St Andrew Parish Church.
Willie Haggart was initially buried at this Cemetery and was removed to Dovecot
Wow 😲...
Why was he removed if you don't mind me asking
Thieves dug out Willie’s grave, stolen a lot of jewels.
Happy Sunday sir
Same to you, too
Greeting hope all is well, first i must say you were brave to visit this famous place, you missed to mention all the former most wanted men that is resting there that including Anthony Tingle (sharkey) and his brother Mickey, the cottage belongs to a jamaica famous family the Shoclair i remember when Abbe Issa (Mr Jamaica) was laid to rest about 1985 it was a big event in Jamaica history all of the dinitary was present. this was our playing ground has a child. The Priest of the catholic church are also resting at Calvery
Yes, indeed. I did a video showing Anthony Tingle (General Starkey's) grave. I also saw Burry Boy's grave. Mr. ISSA was buried there in 1984.
Run Nigel. I’m scared for you 😮
Wat beauty,if most cemetery,in jamaica,could keep,clean,you could read history,people who died,over century.
R.S.M. Religious Sisters of Mercy
Knock knock 😊 we would not want you to go down there.
Love your content. You can get a tripod for your phone so it doesn’t shake.
Actually, I'm using one. Focus on steadiness of hand helps me a lot now
Didn't rita marley live across the street from there and isn't that where the wailers along with Bob himself used to rehearse at?
different religions, different belief systems about life after death, at the end of it all its the soul that has found eternal peace 🙏 i dont think the Issa great grand children are going to dig up the remains of their ancestors to re emtomb them at a more beautiful spot 🤔 thanks for another great video ✅️✅️
My dear departed brother bury there, he died in a car crash on Constant Spring Road in 1964.
Do you know the constant spring cemetery let me know
😂ma-so-leum
Sorry To Hear how.much was it to bury him there back then
I have a cousin who is Buried there when. His wife passed decades later they didn't bury her there because that place looks like a Forrest I understand
I think people who have their family over there could come together with some help and do some cleaning up I would participate
That socall laddlook like part of a bed head or a crib rail,it look like someone has been living there
For a few seconds, I thought the same thing.
Yes, indeed
Mr. Nigel, do you think you could go to the cemetery where they have huge posters of the dead people them? I saw a very small video with it and would like you to visit and show us. It's like they take pictures and print it very huge and put them beside the graves or even on top. I am not sure where in Jamaica this cemetery is.
That's the Annotto Bay cemetery
@@krystaljarrett793Yes, thank you.
If I had known you were going to Calvary I would’ve asked you to look for my grandma grave. Lillian Hamilton
Does she have a headstone
My friend Marcia who used to sell vintage records at the Randy’s Record shop was murdered inside the Calvary Cemetery over 6 years ago😢
So sad. When I was there, I never experienced danger.
How can we get that Cemetery cleaned up? My mother is buried there….
It's a huge cemetery and would require lots of money to clean it properly. Also, individuals from adjoining communities are dumping garbage over there, causing additional problems. I guess you will have to only clean around your mom's grave.
As a good friend of the Issa family growing up it's sad to see someone poaching in their resting place possibly doing some kind of voodoo or whatever. Hopefully Joey or someone from the family sees this and get them out.
Mr samon you are very brave man i hope ýòu has yu little things in yu pocket guideañce😮
Nigel, thanks for what you're doing, but can you tell me if they have old slave cemeteries in jamaica? I'm looking for the last name Brown in St. Elizabeth, that's where my dad is from but doesn't know anyone on his side. Mother side is Lowers from St. Ann.
Where is that Cemetery i dont think i ever saw it before
In the parish of St Andrew
@JamaicanChapter ok what kind of cemetery is that
#Jamaican Chapter, not seeing any vlog lately.
Hoping you're well.
While am not afraid of going into a cemetery id never go by calvary or maypen by myself and its just for safety reason only
Nobody live thereThem a work Guzum! Skull & Bones! You can't be that naive! Good tour mi G.
Who skull is that
Same thing came to mind when I saw it, I don’t think anybody is living there, I think someone is using it to work witchcraft
When are going to visit no,5,cemetery,in spn town
I might do it this month.
i hope you has and comfortable dhoes such as sneakers or running shoes
Hey, My uncle is buried there, and I would like to have him moved to Dovecot. Do you know how I can go about that? Is there anyone to talk to about it??
You can call the Catholic church responsible for the cemetery at 876-922-3335 and discuss the exhumation or you can simply go to the cemetery and speak with the caretaker.
@@JamaicanChapter Thank you for providing the number. I really appreciate it.
The camera is strapped on to the body hence its stable thats what contents creators do
Do you know if this cemetery closed off for burial 🪦?!! You are very brave I wouldn’t want to go inside that place you went to with that skull 💀
Another great video! Thanks! I cannot believe that the Catholic Diocese of Kingston and St. Andrew has allowed the Calvary Cemetery to fall into such a horrible state of disrepair! They should be ashamed of themselves!
I am sure that wealthy families like the Issas and the DeSousas and many others donated generously to the Catholic Church so their final resting place would be maintained in perpetuity! Inside the Issa family mausoleum is that shrine erected by an intruder, with a skull --- likely that of the patriarch of the Issa family --- in a dish, surrounded by someone's personal belongings, and what looks like ritualistic paraphernalia.
The tombs and the graveyard are overgrown with bush, weed and grass, looking very much like an abandoned, long-forgotten graveyard. Why is the Catholic church, with its history of great wealth globally --- funded by the donations and bequeathals of its members --- so mainly intent on hoarding vast wealth in the Vatican bank?! 😡
You better be very careful
I like how they state what kill the person
Be careful parasitic criminals don’t rob you in Calvary Cemetery, as sometimes they’re lurking somewhere unknown to you and others, all other criminals themselves are afraid to venture over there, so take care
I’m sure that many or all of the families of these wealthy white and Spanish Jamaicans have since migrated to the rest of the world. The Issas, Machados, and Gores. This is why these graves are not maintained. It’s a part of Jamaican history long gone.
You have a point.
Some video editing software has stabilization features, I could swore TH-cam have it one time not sure about now and also the lady you spoke of might have been using one of those camera contraption to make the camera stable even when you tilt her hand the camera will stay straight. Bro, be careful in some of these places you visit to get footage. Some of these places you visit are very dangerous or surrounded by very dangerous places.
There is a video stabilizer feature in the app I use to edit my videos. But getting stabilization at the time of recording is important. Thanks for the "be careful" advice.
Voodoo Alta at the Issa 's Graves
They are Jews from Spain, and Portogal. What is written could be Hebrew or Spanish. Keep Up The Good Work. Blesssings.
Own by St Jude's catholic church I think, , right off the waltham, they also own the primary school,St Jude's,most of my relatives buried there, it's like a family plot for my family, years now

Issah there are money people they had a lot of store on king Street
You are brave sir. Remember to bite your 10 fingers. 😅
Lol. I don't think I will
People are most times buried and then abandoned 😢
U need a Tripod to put the camera on
Ask LA Lewis if he knows anything about those obeah working things and names written on the walls in Issa mausoleum.
The church that owns this cemetary needs to clean it up. I hope the Issaa and the other big ppl who are buried there their families see this and do some clean up as well
The issa family owns the sand susi hotel in st mary
(Wily hoggart )was first buried in the calvary cemetery before his remains was relocated to dovecot memorial park in st Catherine
If u don't want your videos to shake, get a Gimbal stabilizer
Sounds great. Was looking at some on Amazon after reading your comment.
they should have put on grill bars on mr Essa tomb house
It would not have made a difference
Thanks for an my request.you are bold man in Jamaica,
Dis is where Starkey buried, an two of my family members
He did the vlog on Starkey and his brother recently
10:00
The Jamaican government lacking, they make the Cemetery overgrown. People this is modern time we have to take care if our Cemetery
He said it's not a public cemetery, so the government not responsible.
Ok
I believe those men who do not like freedom and r in prison they should be able to clean these cemetery give them something to do
Believe it or not it's own by the Vati
I am sure the Issas are going to remove the remains of their loved ones after hearing of this.
That the Issa family rich business people, someone particing Voodoo in their monement
Couples Sands in Ochi and Couples Negril is for Abraham Issa
my uncle is buried here llyod sterling resting in sun power
30: 22 don't u see that the place of an evil worker with people names written on the wall ?
People still bury at calvary
The Issa muselium is scary how can someone li e in a cemetry
Issa's a family is buried there..there are wealthy people
After hearing or seeing this video I am sure they are gonna have them interned elsewhere.
@@rosemartin5067 this place was for Rich Catholic Jamaican
Be careful when you get into those dwellings that seems like there are certain unknown individuals live in them. They seem like some kind of mad or crazy. No sane man can fearlessly live with human skulls
Be careful parasitic criminals don’t rob you in Calvary Cemetery, as sometimes they’re lurking somewhere unknown to you and others, all other criminals themselves are afraid to venture over there, so take care 🙏🏾❤️💪🏾
Interesting but I never found it risky at all. I liked the peaceful atmosphere over there.
The Machado are Cubans that migrated to Jamaica
The Jamaican government needs a flogging for making all these graveyards looking the way they do.
These are private cemetery! Not owned by the Government.
Stop blaming the government, this cemetery is owned by the Catholic Church. Everything happen in Ja you all blame the government.
@patrickwoodcock7732 some ppl love blaming government for everything but don't want pay taxes.
Not only in Jamaica men die first but worldwide. Men are physically strong but mentally weaker. Stress from the average woman contributes to this too
John Brown u are righ Catholics mostly buried there my Dad is buried there 19 83
Imagine those Nuns in their times. Lived their entire lives (perhaps,) none in the morning, none at night. 😅😅😅 It's a joke, folks.
Is the amount of work u know work in the day ,, work at night. 😂😂😂😂
I belive some of these people are from Spanish descendant
Be careful! It seem as though the person who lives in the graveyard was working black magic.
Negil you are so brave carry some antibiotics Wipes to clean your hands when finish video you let me laugh well back in the good old days in the districts a lot of old husbands died but there wife's looking younger or very much younger than the old men
Place badly needed some care
Can't the churches clean up this cemetery it's not use anymore never the less they can clean up
R.S.M = Religious Sisters of Mercy. They build Alpha Academy , Primary, Infant, and Jessi Ripoll.
The Spanish people are predominately Catholics! So being buried in Catholic cemetery shouldn't come as a surprise! Just think about what was going on in Cuba during the 1950s. Fidel Castro🎉🎉🎉
