If you're interested in knowing more about this session, please peruse the video description for "The Icarian Gambit," also on my channel.
Here's another song from Marcus's forthcoming album. This is another re-tracked tune, originally recorded in a batch with others back in 2010 (as in the aforementioned video's description). Back then, I was pretty clueless when it came to recording and didn't even know how to punch myself in; no idea how I managed to plow through this entire song. I will take the 'luxury' of punches any time. What a nightmarish piece!
This vid marks the debut of my new camera setup: 4 GoPro HERO11 black minis, along with a Hammacher Schlemmer "The World's Brightest Torchiere Lamp." I appreciated the additional furnished light so much that I bought a second one.
Notes:
-1:05 - 16th quint fill-in motif is briefly abandoned to presage a new section
-1:40 - a brief two bars, but the ride bell is in 5 to complement the time sig
-2:13 - 16th sept fill-in falls on 8th upbeat

Yes. This tune has been orbinated. 💥
Unruly grooves
Band - what timing should we do?
Orbs - yes
I can’t imagine the hell bands need to go through trying to find a drummer that’s able to play stuff you come up with 😅
Its hard to listen to
Even a machine would weep in the face of this good lord
hahaaa
A pleasure as always, can't wait to finish the rest!
terrific playing Travis and that snare sounds fantatsic.
oooh, ❤that tasty groove at 1:40
Masterful work on all fronts gents!
Never fails to amaze me
Very nice bro! Play open handed is great!
Always amazing. Do you happen to have a video or any info on your bass drum recording set-up? Any added imput on your end from the process to ending on it, the differences it provides vs just the bass drum ect.? I'm very curious.
DPA 4055 inside the 20” kick, Neumann U47 FET outside the 24” kick, both mikes go into Vintech X81 pres. But I didn’t mix this, gent named Mack Damon did. Cheers!
@@TravisOrbin it sounds perfect. Any idea how long it took you/whoever to come up with this process? Thanks for the response.
@@GregBatte Taylor Larson, the great producer/engineer, is a close pal. He helped me hook up and dial in my analog gear many years ago, supplying me with a template in Pro Tools that I've tweaked and adjusted over time. Everything that's culminated to what you are seeing and hearing has been in the making since 2007, when I first began purchasing analog gear.
How do you like the DPAs on toms? Even the bleed sounds so pleasant to me in these mics
They're great. But my favorite upgrade, by far, was from the 57 to the 2011C.
@@TravisOrbin I'm a big fan of SDC on snares as well
Vocals are so out of place
