Thank You so very much for providing such eloquent definition to these things I've heard all my life as I have tried to learn this beautiful music. Enjoy your playin' too.
Mr. Jon-Erik Kellso => Thanks a lot for these lessons. Maybe make a video with the same examples of endings in combination of the written notes. This will help to study all different possibilities.
were all these endings improvised? that'd be cool if they were I love John Erik Kelso and I like how he always talks about new Orleans style jazz in these videos.
Practicing, heheheh! Listening a lot to the early jazz greats, imitating them at first, picking up inflections and nuances. Eventually came up with my own combination of things.
Nope, it’s not made by Adams, but it was custom made, by Bobby DeNicola. There’s a similar (“balanced action” style, valves further forward) one for sale on eBay now. He only made two or three like this. Sorry I didn’t see this question until now.
Bobby gave it to me, I was an endorser for him. He’s no longer with us. Brent Peters in Portland, Oregon is carrying on in his tradition, making Puje trumpets inspired by Bobby’s Puje trumpets.
I'm a drummer in Seattle and I've been lucky enough to play with Kellso several times. Awesome player and a helluva good guy!
he is such a WILDLY wonderful trumpeter.
Damn, hes got that Louis sound
Amazing knowledge shared.
Bless this fabulous trumpet player.
Thanks for this. I regularly play lead, although I play tenor sax in a New Orleans-style jazz band, and I'm weak on endings.

That was great! More New Orleans-style videos please!
