Oh, but I think there was a reason: they were manifesting their eventual success to the Universe and the universe DELIVERED. 😂 Some lines are almost prophetic. Even being copied is something fairly common in K-pop but I wonder how many of the people listening to this then ARE “working for them” today in some fashion. I know they probably didn’t mean it in the literal sense but the universe took it seriously because HYBE is huge and it would not exist if they had disbanded then. Not to mention all the jobs indirectly tied to them all over the world. All joking aside, this song never fails to put a smile on my face.

This is the beginnings of BTS’ EDM sound which interestingly enough, few of them seem to explore as solo artists. I like the EDM ngl, to me dope is really dope. It’s one of BTS’ fun tracks from the HYYH era. I think you will like b-sides a lot more :) Keep being honest jurn, BTS does so many genres it’s ok to not like all of it 😂👍

I had the same reaction as you to this song ngl. I didn't particularly enjoy this genre before and i prolly will not actively seek out this genre. But this particular song really grew on me over the years after seeing their live concert performances. It go hard on stage and the crowd gets hype. And the lyrics are really fun to sing along to. Iroke bangtan styleeeee Still not a bts song i ever actively put on any playlist. But if it comes on i don't skip it. There are a higher number of bts songs that is a more appealing to me than not. You will see more edm music from bts now on though... this bts era started their edm dance music experimentation which lasted like 3 to 4 years. It probably stopped during the mots albums 2019.

I decided to watch one more (Boy with Luv) and decided BTS were just average pop and not for me. Months later Dynamite was in my feed again and I decided to listen just once more to make sure my first impression was correct. Repeated the same process with the same two songs. And then I decided to try one more song.... just to be sure. It was Dope. The song itself didn't grab me, but the dancing did. I could just see how much work had gone into being able to dance that well and it intrigued me. And down the rabbit hole I went. It's weird because songs of theirs that I didn't immediately like tended to grow on me. I love Dynamite and Dope and Boy with Luv and even Permission to Dance now because I love BTS and it's hard not to end up loving everything they do. That being said, I do have favorites and not-so-favorites. Lol. Thank you for keeping it real and giving your honest opinion. I can't stand reactors that give bs reactions that are all positive because they think that's what we want to hear. As long as you have respect for the guys (which you clearly do), I'm all for you giving your honest opinion. But I reserve the right to love this song because I would still be in the dark about BTS if it didn't exist.

Personally I love dope , but everyone has different tastes. Im glad bts is just SOOO versatile , they have so many songs for so many different tastes in music. I especially love dope at concert settings.
I felt that way originally except I really enjoy the choreography. However, seeing them perform it live over the years, it definitely grew on me. I would say I generally prefer the B sides to their title tracks to listen to but when I see them perform the big tracks at a concert, then I totally get it. Time and place makes a huge difference for some of their music. The Map of the Soul 7 album was specifically made for a big stadium tour. You can hear it so clearly and the fact that we never got it as intended due to Covid will always be a sore spot. Anyway, Dope and a few others that sound awkward might grow on you with time is basically my point. 😅

I'll tell you something, a lot of ARMY say they wish they'd found BTS sooner than they did, it's a whole thing. I do not wish that. I first heard them in late 2017 and became a stan in 2018. Finding them in the middle, being able to see them at that moment and then view where they grew from, was the best way for me to have become ARMY. I didn't fall down the rabbit hole with them, I was intrigued initially and they became an acquired taste. Had I come across them any earlier, I wouldn't have given them a second look. Now I do like DOPE, but I didn't immediately and would never have IF it was the first song I heard. In short, I feel you. BTS covers a range, it makes sense that everything isn't going to hit for you. I will predict tho that you'll most likely end up liking some of the songs you initially disliked, eventually 💜😊
They're all dressed as different occupations. V is an anime detective character based on Arthur Conan Doyle. Most people think this is one of the dopest songs ever and totally underrated. In a fair world, this song would easily have been in Billboard Top 10, #1 for at least a week if not longer. It's actually what put BTS on the map globally. Their popularity skyrocketed after this came out. It was their first MV to reach 100 million btw. I think the only reason it's not at a billion is because of the weird split they did with 1theK. - Having said all that though, I knew you were going to hate it. I've never seen you like a pop song actually. You'll have to correct me if you can think of a pop song you like that I missed. They're just not your groove, which I totally get :)

But as ARMY, seeing it all from the beginning & the behind the scenes, it's just better appreciation. This song is great live, interactions with fans, etc, it is quiet popular song live. And always fun time. I think watching few lives this song would grow on you a little haha. A lot of peoole love this song, and yeah I was thinking you might not like it looking at your reactions, but it is popular song with high energy, and hard choreo, that is why I think it brought soo many new fans at that time. Mosty bc it was new for them, style vise. Lyrics actually have a lot of fight and angst. Song and video are social comentary. But yeah when you don't feel the song is hard to see all goods there. (And it is actually on next album you will react) So in theory they are showing different path in lives that takes over your live hmm doctor, detective, actor, policeman, office worked, racer, military, navy, and tgeyvate artist, they sing about husle live and working non stop for the dream and this video try to get you relate and if you want something you have to "reject rejection" and don't give up. 😉
Ngl I walked into this kinda gleefully waiting for the inevitable suffering lmao. I love this song and it brought in one of the first significant waves of new ARMY into the fandom so it has a place of historical importance for us...but I also knew you'd hate it with every fibre of your being. It was hilarious. It helps that we know your taste by now so we can't get offended or hurt by it. Might as well enjoy the ride. I think this era of stuff is not going to be your thing. Like I haven't watched your reaction yet but I know you'll probably hate 'Fire' too even though it's another fan fave. But it's all good. Dope is one of my favorites. I found it after seeing Mic Drop on SNL. The bass is very intense and the sax sounds like someone is trying to strangle it. It has a happy sounding vibe, but the song is not a happy one, other than they do have to admit that they do really think they are dope. Lots of wordplay going on. The intense choreo is what I really like and the dance practice shows this off even more. I love it. I have been following your BTS album reviews and so far there has not been very much that you have really liked. I am looking forward to the day when BTS does a song that not only impresses you, but you really enjoy it. I'm not giving up on you, there's still hope. (& I still think BTS's Dope is dope) 🙂

Personally I love dope , but everyone has different tastes. Im glad bts is just SOOO versatile , they have so many songs for so many different tastes in music. I especially love dope at concert settings.

I felt that way originally except I really enjoy the choreography. However, seeing them perform it live over the years, it definitely grew on me. I would say I generally prefer the B sides to their title tracks to listen to but when I see them perform the big tracks at a concert, then I totally get it.
Time and place makes a huge difference for some of their music.
The Map of the Soul 7 album was specifically made for a big stadium tour. You can hear it so clearly and the fact that we never got it as intended due to Covid will always be a sore spot.
Anyway, Dope and a few others that sound awkward might grow on you with time is basically my point. 😅

Dope is dope...but I get it...I can't stand PTD, Butter, and Dynamite...you can't like them all. Tops for me are 'Black Swan', 'Louder Than Bombs', 'Come Back Home', 'Home', 'We On', 'Save Me', 'Airplane', 'Airplane Pt2', 'My Time', 'Serendipity', 'Awake'(Jin eats on that track), 'Butterfly', 'Tomorrow', 'Paradise', 'Who'...and more but I'm tired!!!😂

I'll tell you something, a lot of ARMY say they wish they'd found BTS sooner than they did, it's a whole thing. I do not wish that. I first heard them in late 2017 and became a stan in 2018. Finding them in the middle, being able to see them at that moment and then view where they grew from, was the best way for me to have become ARMY. I didn't fall down the rabbit hole with them, I was intrigued initially and they became an acquired taste. Had I come across them any earlier, I wouldn't have given them a second look. Now I do like DOPE, but I didn't immediately and would never have IF it was the first song I heard. In short, I feel you. BTS covers a range, it makes sense that everything isn't going to hit for you. I will predict tho that you'll most likely end up liking some of the songs you initially disliked, eventually 💜😊
They're all dressed as different occupations. V is an anime detective character based on Arthur Conan Doyle. Most people think this is one of the dopest songs ever and totally underrated. In a fair world, this song would easily have been in Billboard Top 10, #1 for at least a week if not longer.
It's actually what put BTS on the map globally. Their popularity skyrocketed after this came out. It was their first MV to reach 100 million btw. I think the only reason it's not at a billion is because of the weird split they did with 1theK.

In all fairness though, your opinion is valid. Many people will overlook that at least the 1st 4yrs of music isn't for everyone to appreciate.
But as ARMY, seeing it all from the beginning & the behind the scenes, it's just better appreciation. For anyone now discovering or entering the rabbit hole, almost all the earlier music will be judged harshly as they learned, explored & grew from boys to men in all aspects.
Key factor them producing and learning themselves as artists.

Unlike most reactors, you are strictly here for the artistry of BTS, and you appreciate the character development of the members. I also think because you see where they are now, it’s harder to appreciate their evolution, so your reactions manifest as disappointment. Please understand that while BTS at their core are the same, “Dark & Wild” BTS is far from “Be” or ”MOTS” BTS. You discovered BTS in their most liberated, artistic form. Just do your due diligence with the billions project, and take the songs with a grain of salt. You are Chapter 2 ARMY, so your standards are justifiably high. This song is great live, interactions with fans, etc, it is quiet popular song live. And always fun time. I think watching few lives this song would grow on you a little haha.
A lot of peoole love this song, and yeah I was thinking you might not like it looking at your reactions, but it is popular song with high energy, and hard choreo, that is why I think it brought soo many new fans at that time.

Lyrics actually have a lot of fight and angst. Song and video are social comentary. But yeah when you don't feel the song is hard to see all goods there.

So in theory they are showing different path in lives that takes over your live hmm doctor, detective, actor, policeman, office worked, racer, military, navy, and tgeyvate artist, they sing about husle live and working non stop for the dream and this video try to get you relate and if you want something you have to "reject rejection" and don't give up. 😉
Ngl I walked into this kinda gleefully waiting for the inevitable suffering lmao. I love this song and it brought in one of the first significant waves of new ARMY into the fandom so it has a place of historical importance for us...but I also knew you'd hate it with every fibre of your being. It was hilarious. It helps that we know your taste by now so we can't get offended or hurt by it. Might as well enjoy the ride. I think this era of stuff is not going to be your thing. Like I haven't watched your reaction yet but I know you'll probably hate 'Fire' too even though it's another fan fave. But it's all good. You've always been both respectful and honest so it's alright if you don't like some stuff. We know when you say you do like some things, it's the truth.
Dope is one of my favorites. I found it after seeing Mic Drop on SNL. The bass is very intense and the sax sounds like someone is trying to strangle it. It has a happy sounding vibe, but the song is not a happy one, other than they do have to admit that they do really think they are dope. Lots of wordplay going on. The intense choreo is what I really like and the dance practice shows this off even more. I love it. I have been following your BTS album reviews and so far there has not been very much that you have really liked. I am looking forward to the day when BTS does a song that not only impresses you, but you really enjoy it. I'm not giving up on you, there's still hope. (& I still think BTS's Dope is dope) 🙂

Hey you like what you like. And you don't like what you don't. To be fair this is back 2015 and this is the song that got them some attention outside Korea/Asia. They were just the young tryhards that wants to be dope. Better luck next time I personally suggest "Not Today" which hopefully is more of your style.

wow ok so im having a random revelation while rewatching your reactions. and i noticed i really dont like the production on these songs like dope and fire my brain ignores the production and focuses on their vocals and rapping theres some part's of the production i like but mostly my brain separated the vocals and the production. which helps me focus on the lyrics as well. but if i were to listen to a instrumental i wouldn't like it.

I am very curious to why do you continue to react to BTS as a whole seven member group and any part of the vocal line because you don’t like none of their music and none of the videos. So if you’re gonna do it, why don’t you just stick to the rap line because you like them 90% more than anything else. With other tracks from this album they finally hit their stride and find the path they’ll take going forward, but this is still one of the songs where it’s hit or miss with listeners. I think it’s popular because people know they really were hustling and it was starting to pay off (and some folks really do like it), but I know many who don’t like this one as much. As you move forward with the album reviews, I’m curious to watch your reactions to the ones that really helped solidify their success.
