Really outstanding work mate, thank you for sharing. I think you gave it a tad too much of delay tho, but it is the closest it can get without a Jaguar and actually being Johnny Marr.
@@edmoification yeah well it doesn't really matter, there's a reason his signature is a jaguar not a tele. And after all, tone really is in the fingers
Well done Sir you've got my subscription ( I KNOW NOT EXACTLY THE RECORDING CONTRACT YOU DESERVE ) but many thanks from an old man, you absolutely nailed it and you made my day a lot better have a wonderful week. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
so it's compression > EQ > Chorus > Reverb (which type? plate? room? spring?) > and then delay? or delay before the reverb. and then a boost at the end?
Not sure what that is in £ But I only paid £80 for the guitar. Can’t remember what guitars I had at the time. But bagged myself the JM jag now 👌🏻. Always have something cheap / project knocking around in my bedroom 😜
JM might not use a compressor pedal as such but what you hear on a record has had tonnes of compression added at every stage of the recording from the amp/desk/sends/mastering so a high quality compressor like a Keeley will give that ‘studio sheen’ in a live/bedroom setting so go Kick Rocks dude.
When you go DI for cleans, you do it for the compression attack. Compression also gives you that smacky attack. Johnny likes hot pickups and 11 gauge strings, but for any strat or tele to get like Johnny you gotta understand what this guy is doing is run of the mill tone shaping. You can get very spanky and organic levels of compression. Get a nice hit and then diffuse. Comp'd guitar blends so much better with reverb and chorus. And with a mid and bass roll off you can get smacky treble side with 10 gauge or whatever. Johnny Marrs gear today doesn't so much reflect his sounds of yesteryear. Dynacomp is a No. But compression with mix knobs and release times, is the GOAT effect
LOL this has to be a drunken comment! Fucking hilarious. I don’t think I’ve ever read “wannabe” spelt out properly .. or was it the start of a new sentence 🤷🏻 well never know what Oli wanted to be 🥲 perhaps an accountant?!

Except he played it on a Telecaster.

@@facundosimonetti5203 tone is mainly in the pickups
@@edmoification i was gonna say, sounds like a tele to me
@@facundosimonetti5203 his signature is kind of a tele though too, the custom tele he uses, the green one
Sounds excellent!!!
I got excited when you started playing
Sounds fantastic, really close to the proper sound.
Nailed it and I love it
Nice one!! Awesome!
Wow! nice tone.
Really enjoyed that.
top marks!
That just breathes!
Brilliant!
Great!
Very good effort Fella 👍
Nice vans too.
No socks though, bound to smell
Respect!

Are you using spring or room reverb setting ?
nice work! what made you choose the super chorus over the ce-2?
Uh I’ll be honest. I’m borrowing it. Have been for quite a few years 😇
@@Cyclingsucks I've got an OD-1 that I've been borrowing since.. the early 90s,lol! The riff & tone sound spot on, good job!
I use an Ibanez CS-9 for chorus.
@@joekimberlin264 that’s where my pedal went!
Really need to get one of those spark boost pedals
Marr played in F# without a capo most of the time but nice job all the same
Use 9s and youll snap them that the only problem so just use a capo on the second fet
The dog on the headstock: most important!
sweet!
2:05 and 2:25
so it's compression > EQ > Chorus > Reverb (which type? plate? room? spring?) > and then delay? or delay before the reverb. and then a boost at the end?
After the EQ > drives > chorus > delay > reverb. Possibly room can’t remember now
Is this all on the bridge pickup?
Johnny Marr only uses his bridge pickup
Michael Thomas that isnt true at all
Uh some of the time it was I think 🤙🏼
great rig
fuck wow. great job.
Wasnt it played on a telecaster?
It was recorded with the Rickenbacker 330 and overdubbed with a telecaster
Not bad pal
anybody else see a ghost orb at around 2.25
“Gold with a dog on the headstock” - pretty boring supposedly 😂
You're playing a $200 squier into a $500 strymon pedal?! LOL
Not sure what that is in £

I’d rather play a squier into a strymon than a standard into a behringer 👍
Love mixing different $ gear.
What’s wrong with a squier?
Don't get me wrong, I prefer Fender guitars. But I also love squire. They both have their high and low end sheeeeit... Don't be hating foo...
Crap. Cheers my arse
What u on about?
Oi, what’s all this then?
Before you imitate the sound learn to play the riff accurately. What you’re playing is waaaay off
We’re just having fun. 😊
Not way off at all
It’s pretty close…gimme a break
Its nnot way off at all. You play it
Doesn't use compression. You don't. Goo back being accountant. Want to be
Cheers bud 🥴 accountant?

Johnny uses a Diamond Compressor live, look at literally any picture of his pedalboard lmao
