This song has literally everything to me, that a techno metal song should have. The lyrics too are just amazing, the mix of fantasy and cyberpunk themes, along with the male/female voices, English/Japanese, it's so well constructed. Makes me want to eat the world
The two bands go back a while, having met in festivals, firstly in 2015. They quite simply love each other - both are eclectic and non purist of course. In 2019 BMtH were fairly unknown in Japan , but were called upon by the Fox God to support Babymetal in the huge arenas in the first Japanese leg of the Metal Galaxy World Tour. Of course Babymetal have great relationships with many Western Bands - many of whom cheered for them in the darker days of ignorant metal trolls - Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Rob Halford, DragonForce. Kingslayer was constructed at a distance during the Pandemic, with Oli encouraging Babymetal to include Japanese phrases
I can't wait for some of the other japanese metal bands to get more international acclaim (which I think is already happening) and for some more colabs to start happening with other western musicians. I'd love to see a Band-Maid X Slipknot colab. I know the maids are fans. I have seen their behind the scenes videos.
@@jpineda0527 BAND-MAID did an instrumental version of Slipknot's 'Duality' at the beginning of one of their online streams. Both BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID had been scheduled for Knotfest Japan. BAND-MAID went ahead and performed their set online after the festival was cancelled.
@@rickwagner- Yes, it was by the skin of their teeth that Babymetal managed to complete all 10 Doomsday performances at the Nippon Budokan. There were other performances earlier in the year there, but Bandmaid withdrew from what was effectively their album launch there. I saw their online alternative - the one where they were joking about Misa’s onstage Whisky habit.
Good one - this collaboration was on the cards for a while, they have been good friends for 5 or 6 years and had spoken often in the past about wanting to do a collaboration.
@@jthomas6672 I think so, it was a festival in the UK so Reading would fit the bill. There is a photo of Oli showing them he is wearing a Babymetal t-shirt somewhere back stage and you can almost hear exactly what noises each of them are making just from the photo.

this is how you do a collaberation. it makes both bands stand out. this is one of the best collabs i have ever heard. it elavates both bands to another level. this had been talked about for the last few years and it was worth the wait. should have done the intro, Itch for the Cure. less than 2 minutes but it leads into this song.

There's a little bit of BABYMETAL in the preceding song, 'Itch For The Cure (When Will We Be Free?)'. The final track, 'One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death' features Amy Lee from Evanescence. Pretty great song title. The haters can just go ahead and be mad at BMTH and BABYMETAL simultaneously, which probably saves time. This was probably the best collaboration of 2020.
This song already is a modern classic. Its just brilliantly written, produced and executed. This is how popular metal of this day and age should sound like in my opinion. So much energy!!
