I finally gave up coffee a month ago after a long addiction. It was harder than sugar. It was the last thing I held on to....but now I am free...for me this was a spiritual victory...I am so jazzed about this, and I know the Lord knows I took ground back...

@Lisa Quinn Congratulations on getting the victory over coffee drinking! I know it is a difficult thing and I know all about it. I used to be addicted to alcohol, and nicotine. It was a difficult journey but God delivered me from both those things. I also drank a ton of caffeine too. After I gave up nicotine, I'm sure I doubled down on the caffeine to replace it. And then when I gave up alcohol, I think I tripled or quadrupled down on the caffeine as I new way to get my fix. Caffeine in whatever form, be it coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, is a drug as real as the more obvious ones. It amazes me that people don't see it. It also amazes me that caffeine is so readily available. Even a 4 year old can purchase a drink with it in it with no restrictions. The devil has everyone right where he wants them with that one. It is a very difficult habit to break for sure. God also delivered me from that one as well. All glory be to God for giving both of us the victory! God is good.

@@sulongenjop7436 There are lots of things that God has made that people abuse and use in ways that God never intended. Just because God made wheat and corn, doesn't mean that He intended for us to ferment it to get drunk, and that we can bless beer and whiskey. God made plants that can be used to numb pain after an injury, or to perform a surgery and are a blessing when used for that purpose. But when someone starts using them to simply get a buzz or get high, this is an abuse and becomes sinful. Coffee may have been created by God for medicinal uses, but I am certain He never intended it to be used recreationally. Or He may have never created it to begin with. Even people are capable of altering plants and changing their properties by crossbreeding, genetic modification, and other methods. It may be that Satan was involved in the bringing about of the coffee plant and others that contain caffeine. I don't know. But just because something seems to have occurred naturally in our sinful world, doesn't mean that God has blessed its use for whatever we desire. I hope you will prayerfully consider this my friend. God bless!

Luther called James 'the epistle of straw"
and put down his Drs cap and said he would give it to anyone who could reconcile James.
One day he came in and picked his cap up because he had reconciled James with Paul and understood that the works James speaks of are not of our own but of the Holy Spirit working through us.
When Luther translated the OT and was translating Daniel, Revelation made sense to him and that's when he understood the papacy as Antichrist/ Little horn.

"Tea and coffee drinking is a sin, an injurious indulgence, which, like other evils, injures the soul. These darling idols create an excitement, a morbid action of the nervous system" Manuscript 44, 1896
"This experience every one who is saved must have. In the day of judgment, the course of the man who has retained the frailty and imperfection of humanity will not be vindicated. For him there will be no place in heaven. He could not enjoy the perfection of the saints in light. He who has not sufficient faith in Christ to believe that He can keep him from sinning, has not the faith that will give him an entrance into the kingdom of God." Manuscript 161, 1897.
God WILL give you the victory over ANY sin if you exercise faith. In the judgement time, we MUST gain the victory over every sin or lose our salvation. Anyone who says differently is a liar and has no hope.

Do you believe in the Bible when it says that eating unclean meat is a sin? Can you tell why eating unclean meat is a sin? Plenty of people eat lots of pork and seem fine and healthy. Some people even smoke and live a long life. First, you have to accept that God says it's a sin. Then you have to humbly seek to understand why. From what I understand, caffeine robs the body of it's energy reserves to give you a seeming boost of energy. If you keep stealing from those energy reserves, like with money printing and inflation... eventually you will go bankrupt. And you will pay a price with your health. It's like killing yourself slowly and murder is a sin. Either way, God says it's a sin and it injures your soul. Humbly trust God and remove the evil. I am really at a loss, I am so wonderfully blessed and happy to have been lead to the obvious truths in Daniel and Revelations that deal with things I always questioned, by SDA Biblical teachings...but in the same sense SDA raised some very concerning issues around their idea what is sin and what is not....tea is a sin because why?..... And all the while SDA hospitals preform abortions??? They celebrate christmas a pagan sun worship holiday???? I am so confused as to why coffee or tea or eating fish, or beef , or lamb???? But you teach that if you don't adhere to our way of thinking God will not accept them....😢😢😢😢

    • @matthewkierstead5993
      @matthewkierstead5993 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm an SDA. We believe that drinking tea or coffee is sinful because of the caffeine and what it does to the mind. Caffeine excites the mind. It has a mildly intoxicating effect on the brain. People get all hyper and do and say things they might not normally do. This gives Satan an advantage in trying to get you to give in to his temptations. Also it is bad for your health and your body is the temple of God. Caffeine raises blood pressure and lowers the amount of blood to the brain by over 25%. Not good for spiritual life. There are extenuating circumstances. Say you are on a long road trip and are about to fall asleep from the long hours of driving. I don't think that would be a sin to drink some caffeine to stay awake and not kill yourself and your family. The motivation matters. Drinking caffeine just to get a buzz on the otherhand would be sinful. And drinking caffeine daily to make up for the fact that you abuse your body by staying up half the night every night and not getting enough sleep would also be sinful. God wants us to learn to develop healthy habits and take care of our bodies.
I don't think that all SDA hospitals perform abortions. But whichever ones do, that is absolutely wrong and sinful. The SDA church does not condone abortion. The problem with these hospitals is that they have become all about making money and have hired officers and other employees that are not SDA or other Christian denominations. These people end up making worldly decisions for the direction that the hospital goes and have brought in things like abortion. Quite sad really. Again, officially the SDA Christian denomination does not believe in abortion. But there are bad apples everywhere.
Yes, Christmas has pagan roots. We shouldn't participate in the pagan parts like Santa Claus and mistletoe etc. But we don't believe that there is a problem with celebrating Jesus's birth and using the holiday to tell others about Jesus. I get that everyone has different opinions about Christmas.
We believe that eating the unclean meats like pork or shrimp is still a sin. But we don't believe that eating clean meats like beef or chicken is a sin. I do think we are still supposed to avoid the blood and the fat, but that's up for debate I suppose. We definitely don't believe that eating dairy or eggs is a sin. We do however believe that eating a vegan, plant-based diet is the healthiest and safest diet to eat in our day. So we do teach health reform. Like I said, our body is the temple of God and we should treat it as such. God bless!

What SDAs believe and what SDA hospitals do are two different things. Just because the hospitals and those that run them are driving to receive judgment doesn’t mean that all in the faith believe the same. I’ve not found one Christian who believes and practices the same as another. No such thing exists.

We have to remember that Sis White was writing to people who were over indulging in everything. They didn't understand what the effects would be in over indulgence in coffee, tea, meat, eggs, cheese, etc until they were really sick. Sis White gave stern counsel because she had to for the sake of the people's health. They didn't have the knowledge we are privy to having now about diet. She was really saying that the way they were over indulging was a sin that was leading them to all kinds of sickness. A person who drinks coffee, tea, eats meat, eggs, cheese, etc. In moderation is not sinning. We are to have a balanced diet that leans towards fruits, vegetables, and grains. Hope all who read this consider what I'm saying. God bless and fight to live a sanctified life❤️🙏🏾

I lean toward believing what you said about all in moderation. The danger here though is not staying within a good moderation range. I’ve studied what she wrote about eating black pepper. All of her warnings were to people who were overindulging in it. If you are taking turmeric, then a small amount of black pepper is necessary to help you utilize this herbal remedy. I take turmeric, curcumin, for arthritis in my hands. I also drink a small pot of coffee, about 3 measuring cups worth, I’ve quit for about 3 months, and suffered no withdrawal symptoms, but went back because I enjoy drinking a bit when I wake up. I haven’t been drinking tea much, but I do drink kombucha made from tea. My coffee is organic beans from Sam’s Club. I’d buy organic decaffeinated, if I could find it. I think the organic with caffeine is safer than decaffeinated non-organic because of all the chemicals used. Non-organic coffee is highly sprayed with chemicals. The unclean meats is definitely a no-no, but I eat some items with gelatin like jello and gummy bears sometimes but not a lot. Some would see this as a bad thing.

I have recently learned that for fornication has much to do with eating and overeating, which leads to idolatry. With this being said even good things can be an idol (see Hebrews 12:16, Genesis 25:24). Meat in the Bible was referred to as herb bearing seed; so we see that, once a person is convicted of diet reform than it’s all in obedience to temperance in timely eating and amounts, etc. the ruin of Sodom was in fornication which is also in diet.

When God made the heavens and the earth, it can also mean He made dry land and our atmosphere. Before day one, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. To me, this means a water planet was already here. The planet was at the perfect distance from a source of heat, neither boiling, nor ice. In Jeremiah 4:23 it talks about the condition of the earth during the 1000 years when no people are here. It says the earth was void and without form. All this means is the earth is in a state of chaos and vacancy. See Hebrew interlinear.

I saw that the stewards of God have no duty in the case of those who will persist in using tobacco, coffee, and tea. Some of the poor are apt to place all the straight testimony upon the shoulders of the men of property, but there is something for them to do, a work that they must engage in. They must deny appetite. Here they can make a sacrifice. God calls upon them to do it. And after they leave off these hurtful things, if they get into straitened circumstances while exerting themselves to do the best they can, it will be a privilege for their able brethren to help them out of difficulty. 1LtMs, Ms 4, 1860, par. 27

Coffee drinking is not harmless, my friend, and you need to know this. As someone who struggled with coffee addiction and gained the victory over it in the name of Jesus, you owe it to yourself to find out all you can about the health risks involved with caffeine consumption. Caffeine IS a narcotic, and there are a number of health problems associated with caffeine intake, high blood pressure being one of them. Another is the fact that oxygen uptake to your brain is decreased, in some studies, by up to 40%, but that depends on how much you drink and the strength. You might not think that's a big deal, but it strongly affects your ability to hear God's voice. It also negatively impacts memory recall. Caffeine also has been reported to negatively affect mood and temperament, and I can personally testify to this. Sincerely seek the Lord for guidance and wisdom and earnestly look into this; the information is out there and there is no excuse for us to be ignorant. I will be praying for you. God's blessings to you 🙏🏽

Coffee drinking will not take to hell. Instead making coffee in the Sabbath (one of the 10 commandments), will take you to hell. Lighting a fire in the Sabbath is prohibited in the Bible, no atter it a wood-fire, gas-fire, or a electric-fire; a fire is fire that heats and burn, which God prohibited to make on the Sabbath day.

@user-ii9xs4xf5q Jesus said doing something for food on Sabbath is not a sin. There is a difference cooking and serving. On Sabbath you can't light fire to prepare food large scale with lengthy time.
All you can do, you can cook food on the preparation day, that is Friday as Jews do, light minor fire for limited time to heat the prepared food.
This is exactly like Jesus said, pray your flight may not be on Sabbath. Taking journey on Sabbath with burden to long distance is not permitted. BUT, taking short journey to worship place, as Jesus Himself did ("as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read" - Luke 4:16.).
Therefore, lighting a fire to heat the ready prepared food in a cold region and in cold season for a short time, just to eat is not a sin. Because you are not doing any SURVILE WORK (with blood and sweat).

Everything in this world can be addictive, we are prone to it remember we are fallen men living in a fallen world, now there are good and bad things, this we know as from the garden when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge now knowing good from evil, but we who are in Christ are to discern these things, yes there are things that we ought not do according to the word of God, and we need to
    keep ourselves from it, and there are things that are good but can lead to something bad if we let it take control of us, remember we are to have temperance, which is self-control, when we practise self-control it is the Holy Spirit that reminds us to be moderate, but when we don't practise controlling our selves that can lead us to sin, over indulging, I myself struggle with my weight, so does that mean I should not eat, no I control my eating, this is the Holly Spirit working in me and in you, of course as Jesus said;
    John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
    John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
    John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Now Jesus was saying these things to his disciples, and when you are born again through baptism you too are his deciple, receiving the Holy Spirit where the Lord will speak to us through him.
So can we sin, yes, we all fall short of the glory of God, but to wilfully sin is another matter in itself, but to say you will go to hell for drinking coffee is wrong, you as leaders of the church should encourage self-control, temperance, and not condemning anyone of such miniscule matters, what you should be doing is preparing the body of Christ for the coming persecution of the church, edifying the believers, the building up of the body of Christ, that we may be presentable and without blemishes acceptable unto the Lord, not the tearing down of the walls where we are firmly fit together, the church, the bride of Christ.
May the Grace of God be upon all who are faithful to his Son our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Absurd question: "Coffee drinkers going to hell?" WINE is worse than that of coffee. There will be many in haven who drank wine. Then why not the coffee drinkers? Many will be there in heaven, even who ate swine, then turned away. Many will be there in heaven, who were prostitutes, then turned away. IS COFFEE DRINKING IS SIN? If so, why not mentioned in the Bible? If you break one of the 10 commandments, you are in doubt to be in heaven.

There is nothing wrong with having a cup of coffee or tea. If you like it and you don't drink too much there is no problem. If there was a problem the holy spirit within us would have us made aware of it a long time ago. But He hasn't. The same with eating good meat.... 12“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.1 Corinthians 6:12. There are personal diffrences and choices. But the legalism of Adventism has gone over the top with it, as they do with many other things as well.

@@sda4ever I know what legalism is because I experienced it. It consists of a wrong emphasis coupled with falsehood. It robs you your freedom in Christ on disputable matters. It sears your conscience.

@@sda4ever Each time I have to visit SDA relatives in England then I am on a not declared fast. Only vegetables, potatoes and some undefined nut roast (for meat substitude) all the time. On Saturday it goes without saying appear at nine o'clock at church (nobody asked me whether I usually do that or not) and come back after sabbath school lesson and prolonged service after one o'clock. Then the usual Adventist meal. Because it doesn't taste they use a ton of salt on top. Half an hour of rest then the obligatory sabbath afternoon walk. One and a half hour at least. Supper as unappealing as you could get. SDA bread spread. No tea but all kinds of fruit drinks full of sugar. No tv but old fashioned Adventist hyms and the great controversy. The bible was only lying there. One week of this and I needed 2 weeks to recuberate. No one has ever asked me whether I wanted to do that or not it is just expected from everybody without asking. I know it is not everywhere like that but the general trend goes that way. I call that legalism (of a wrong kind).

Do you really think God is going to be so picky about our salvation that he will keep us out because we ate chicken, or drank a cup of coffee or chocolate the day before? The way i read the bible, He told us healthy living, but didnt say it was a salvation issue......Jesus says, keep His commandments and believe in Him, you shall be saved......

The issue is obedience or disobedience. God will not allow anything into heaven to live forever who is not 100 percent dedicated to Him. What other requirements might He have that we refuse to keep?

Because God is our Creator, he knows what is best for us. 1 Corinthians 3:16,17 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." God's ideal diet for us was and is still the food from the Garden of Eden, aka plant based. There is no need to eat meat, when there are healthier options. Caffeine is a drug which has a negative effect on the brain, and nervous system. We need to honor God, by treating our bodies in a way that is pleasing to him, because we love him.

I think the Seventh day Adventist church is not unlike the catholic church with regard to certain doctrine, and I know God is unchanging and he gave man meat to eat, this idea that meat is defiling the temple is man's need to put others under a bond, just like the Pharisees did with the Sabbath forcing their own intererests, taking the truth and changing it.
