Hello, first of all, thank you so much. This is the tutorial that made it easy for my to understand how to knit my first pair of mittens! I also have a question. When i was making my left mitten, i did the increase of stitches as you showed at the end of the video. Yet oddly enough, i ended up with two identical mittens because the increases ended up in the same direction as the right hand mitten, although i followed your directions clearly on twisting the increased stitches. Maybe you understans what i might have done wrong and how to fix it?
@@tommyssheep Before putting thumb stitches on scrap yarn, a round of stockinette stitches is done. if I knit to the end of the round and then take stitches from the right needle and stitches from the left needle, my working yarn is in the middle of those stitches. So do you stop Knitting before you get to the thumb stitches?
@@joannwinn8545 this was one of my concerns too! after you've tied those stitches the yarn is in the middle. to continue working she folds the knitted part in between the needles (the tied off part) and just brings the working yarn next to the right needle. it's hard to see, you probably have to look very closely.
@@lillicorvetta1058 Thanks for answering my question, as the author of this page did not. I must be dense because I still don’t understand. I’ve looked at the video many times to figure this out. I guess I’ll try again. It was very kind of you to try and help me understand.
Can I just knit longer between the ribbing part and before the carpal bone hand/gusset part? I like my ribbing just a little more higher up before my wrists. Or do I just knit the ribbing longer? That is really nice looking yarn. Do they come in different colors as well? Thank you so much for your tutorial!
Hi, I used double yarn just because it is more comfortable for me and mittens are warmer like this. You can use just one strand of the yarn but the size of mittens will be different. If you want to use double yarn take to ends of yarn from one ball but more comfortable is working with two balls of yarn.
German cast on is a good one too. I would rather use circulars than double pointed needles any day. Thank you for this tutorial!
Yea german cast on is a good one too, I agree ;). I prefer circulars needle and working in a round,..:)
I am glad you like my tutorial :)
