It's funny, I loved it at first - particularly because it's how collabs should be done, rather than the more typical shoehorning one band into another band's song. Then I went off it when Epic Narratives was released because it feels so out-of-place on a Band-Maid album (honestly my instinct has been to skip it), which surprised me because their music is so diverse already that I didn't think that anything they do could sound out of place. This was the first time I've listened to it as a stand-alone song since then and I love it again. To most Band-Maid fans, it sounds closer to The Warning's style of stripped-back North American rock, but a lot of fans of The Warning will (very passionately) say the opposite, so I think we can conclude that it's a departure for both bands. For me, as long as you don't go in with the mindset of wanting to be blown away by musicianship or creative flourishes, it's a very good song.
What do I think?🤔… Like someone said in the comments below. You gave us NittPicc and ditched everything on Her😏,but I’m happy and Thanks for Wonderful…🧐GIFT🤭…. Long time No See and WELCOME BACK HOME 🐦Po…Aww if you want suggestion on Band Maid song, Don’t forget to ask NittPic😏😂🤣
The Warning often document everything they do and share it with their fans. Their Vlog of their time with Band-Maid in Japan show all eight of them in the same room working on the song together. Their respect and affection for each other very evident, especially between the ‘counterparts’. Lead singer and guitarist Dany with Saiki, Kanami and Miku. The drummers Pau and Akane. The two bassists, the ‘barefoot assassin’ Misa and the ‘Thunder Goddess’ Ale became very close friends.
@@charleswharmbyiii8401@ charleswharmbyiii8401 Misa really felt connected with the 11-year-younger Alejandra since they both appear more shy than their band mates. But Ale is mostly polite towards her older sisters and in general is pretty confident in herself. The reason she does not sing lead is simply that she never had the urge to do it.
The Warning is currently releasing their show from Pepsi Center CDMX (ie. Mexico City) last year. It is pro-shot and a good way to start with The Warning as they are an outstanding live band -- it is their superpower....
I'm here for THE WARNING. Band Maid is awesome. The Warning sisters from Mexico are a very different Machine.. I think they are brilliant. 19,22,24yrs old. The first time I saw them they were 9,12,14yrs old doing Enter Sandman in their basement (The Warning Cave) 25+million views later they are here. You'll always want to watch the live stuff.. try DUST TO DUST/DULL KNIVES (Cut better) here comes The Warning Army (TWA) WELCOME TO THE WARNING.. "YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED" 🌎✌️
Can’t wait! Would love to hear your take on some of their live concert songs, especially ones where the drummer Paulina takes lead vocal (“Dust to Dust” or “Disciple”, Teatro Metropolitan concert)
Thanks for the reaction. It's a wonderful collaboration by these two bands who are big fans of each other. The Warning has a wonderful sound and the three sisters are still young (a generation behind BM) and have a huge, bright future ahead of them. I always look forward to their next release. Among all the music I've listened to in the past 5 years tho, it's BM's music that has most captured my heart. BM's sound - like a lot of Japanese music - tends to be more complex, technical, crazy, progressive, and weird: or, for me at least, more interesting. What I think sets both bands apart from their peers is the talent they share at songwriting: both of these bands write truly beautiful original music and, as importantly, they both have incredible vocalists.
Excellent analysis! This is the most authentic collaboration of this year, both bands are big fans of each other and the collaborative effort is evident in this song that is not typical of Band Maid or The Warning but a moment of union to have fun and pay tribute to each other on stage (they played a live performance of this song on The Warning's tour in Tokyo). It is highly probable that they will meet again in Mexico and I think it is in the interest of the girls to write another collaboration. Thanks Tony!
Alejandra (Ale) is bass and backing vocals, the youngest sister. Paulina (Pau, pronounced Pow) on drums and some lead vocals, middle child. Daniela(Dany) on guitar and most lead vocals. Their straight cover of Enter Sandman from 10 years ago, at ages 14 12 and 9, went viral. All started on piano. Played the rock band video game as kids, and decided they wanted to try it for real. Keep Me Fed is their 4th album. The Warning went to Japan in June to play 3 shows, 1 with Band Maid. Went over a couple weeks early, got together with the Maids, finished up the song, and shot this music video. They did play it at the one joint concert, with all 8 ladies on stage, but only a teaser clip has been officially released so far. There is fan cam footage of the entire song, but DO NOT react to that, many that did got copyright strikes. Kanami composed the song, making it challenging for all. Wrote it in a key higher than Saiki and Dany usually sing in. Lyrics credited to Miku and The Warning. In an interview on PRS Guitars Japan with Dany and Kanami, they said the 2 bands should get together again in Mexico, Dany made the challenge to do a song in Spanish. Last year , all 3 TW sisters filmed gear master rundown videos, posted on 'digital tour bus' channel. Pau said she uses a Black Beauty snare in her DW kit with Sabian cymbols. Yes please check out The Warning originals, like Band Maid , they are great live. Suggest starting with "Evolve" from the 2023 mtv video music awards and "Hell You Call A Dream" from Pepsi Center CDMX 2023. For Band Maid, check out "Hate?" official live.
Yes! I've been waiting for you to get into The Warning. Hope you check out more of their stuff! Remember, live is their superpower. Also Pau sings lead on some songs while playing the drums and I know you like a singing drummer. Dust To Dust, Disciple, and Narcisista for example
Band Maid recently released an MV for 'Forbidden Tales' which I think you'll enjoy. I think it's fair to say that it's received rave reviews, a lot of people's favourite from Epic Narratives, possibly my number 2 after 'The One'
Welcome to the fandom! Both bands are big fans of each other. Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song Me & GF spent 10 days in Japan. Was an amazing concert & experience! Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too! I suggest these The Warning songs: Money, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (with Alessia Cara), Evolve (live VMAs) & Dust To Dust (live Teatro)
Thanks for the honesty. That's exactly what I was thinking. A slowed down, predictable, rock song with strong execution and a few treats. I had focused on the specific drums but I did think the drums were a little pedestrian from what I'm used to from Akane. The best part were the lead vocals even though they were predictable (after that opening anyway). They both showed some of their strength and they complimented each other. But, I listen to Band Maid for the same reasons you do (why I love your reactions). All in all, it was a good colab that exposed each band to a new fan base and probably help out both.
The Warning is brilliant and definitely worth further looks. (I say looks because there’s a lot of variety to their songs; even a small handful of their songs won’t really give you a sense of their range.) At the same time, they’re probably not going to blow you away with their chops. That’s not what they’re about. They’re gifted songwriters, and part of that is their gift for restraint, never adding more than what a song calls for.
Money by The Warning is a great example of the ability to exercise restraint by Paulina. Barely any fills by Drumeo's Rock drummer of the year. I think the subtle complexity of their compositions is more interesting than you will find with most bands.
My first concert? The Romantics opening for The Tubes in 1982 or so. I really enjoyed this collab between two bands I have been enjoying in the past few years. • The lyrics are a really strong empowering message IMHO • I like that they did not try to do too much, which on one hand makes the music a bit less complex than either band’s other offerings, but it makes it that 8 players can play it and make it clean. It would be really easy to make a big'ol hot mess of this if they all tried to do too much. • The trade-offs really point out to me that each of the instrumentalists are so individually skilled and approach their parts in slightly different ways. No winners or losers. No battle. Just a lovely 4 or 8 beat display of the variety of approaches and talents for a solo section. • It is nice and compact at 3:21. I have seen plenty of collabs over the years which turn into rambling oeuvres that don't go anywhere musically. This one just feels nice and tidy to me. Since this is your first time with The Warning let me extend The Warning Army's welcome to what we believe is one future of rock & roll - The Warning - Three sisters from Monterey Mexico who started playing together when they were children and who have now been making great hard music for more than a decade. With four studio albums, several live concert videos, we think there is plenty of material for you to choose from. They were independent for the first two albums (Kickstarter and crowd-funded), but are now signed to Lava/Republic records. This three-piece is: Daniela (Dany, 24yo, guitar) Paulina (Pau, as in POW-er, 22yo, drums) Alejandra (Ale, pronounced AH-lay, 19yo, bass) All three sisters sing, and all are classically trained on piano. The Warning have a sound that is both new and familiar. It is certainly hard rock, but clearly influenced by their love of classic rock, metal, punk, K-pop, indie, grunge, funk, and many other genres including classical music. But they have taken those influences and forged a sound that is uniquely their own, and you know that it is them. You may or may not make the same connection with their music that many of us have. What does it sound like to me? Refreshing. A sound that has caught my ear and made me interested in rock again after 25+ years of the same old playlist. While together their combined ages are about the same as many of us fans, their musical maturity is exceptionally high. Need another suggestion? From The Warning’s TH-cam page you might choose from: - Disciple, Hell You Call a Dream, Z, Dust to Dust/Dull Knives, or Choke or anything else from their 2023 Pepsi Center Live performance - MORE or EVOLVE from the MTV VMAs - S!CK or Automatic Sun live studio performances from either MTV Push or Jimmy Kimmel - The official music video for their new releases Six Feet Deep, S!CK or Que Mas Quieras (in Spanish) - The official music video for XXI CENTURY BLOOD - SURVIVE from their 2017 TedX talk There are really no bad choices. They are something special live-I think it is their super power. Their energy, charisma, and musicality really shine when in front of an audience. In the past two years I have flown >20k miles all over North America, Mexico, and just got home from three shows in the UK and Ireland. Can’t wait for the chance to travel and see them again. The only other band I have traveled for like this in more than 45 years of concert going was Rush.
You nailed it. I was at the show in Tokyo. They were celebrating each other's talent. The affection and resoect among them was emotional I tonal, and had me in tears! I love bith if these bands so much. I'm seeing the Warning tonight and tomorrow.
The Warning is most impressive live. Try 'Evolve' from the 2023 MTV VMAs to see them come into a room where most people didn't know them and _take command._ Completely. Also 'Disciple', 'Z', and 'Animosity' from the Teatro Metropolitan shows. Plus they have a concept album that involves murder and madness.
The Warning is a great rock band. But I'll say the part everyone is afraid of, they are not the same caliber musicians as Band-Maid, yet. They play straight forward rock and it's almost what you would expect from a three-piece, but with an attitude I think only an all-female band can bring. This song does a great job incorporating their different styles and abilities into a straight-up collaboration where they are "billed equally." There are a couple of interviews where Dany (lead for the Warning) speaks about Band-Maid's ability with obvious admiration. But while they've been bands almost the same amount of time, Band-Maid formed much later as far as their musical education is concerned. In the end, it's two great bands and it just is matter of whether you like apples, or oranges.
That’s neither The Warning’s best not Band Maid’s best, but it’s a pretty cool song and I am glad they did it. I don’t think the song is representative of either band, but I’m glad they are friends and glad they collaborated on this project
B-M's last video, Forbidden Tale, might not be the most complicated in an instrumental way, but it does have genius level of songwriting and all the Maids serving the song in a masterful way!
They did this song together live in concert in Japan. The Live version was amazing, two bands playing together at once. Band Maid's new release, "Forbidden Tale" is so good!
Drum roll please...Tony, the latest Band Maid MV dropped a week or so ago, and what a perfect companion piece it would be for yu to react to next. Show Me and Bestie on other colab on the latest album ( also dropped a couple weeks ago ) are pretty tame but very good- as good as one could expect with the small time the bands had to put this together. Forbidden Tale is on the other extreme- hard to describe in words, but as complex, as intricate, as any prog song ever in only 4 minutes. It truly shows just how far our Maidiac lovin band has come, my word Kanami is a musical genius, and the playing is other wordly as usual. Saiki however has tiered up ( as I've teared up ) and is in such command now, and Miku's guitar work is excellent she really put the work in. Akane and Misa remain the best 1-2 punch in all of rockdom imho.
The Warning have great music videos but they are best experienced live. Check out "Z", "Disciple", and "Dust to Dust/Dull Knives" from their Pepsi Center CDMX show. For a Spanish song (they have 3), Martirio from the same show is great.
The two bands did this song live together at the end of a joint concert (The Warning did a set then Band-Maid did their set and they ended with this song with both bands on stage.)
we got entranced by the music, the amazing thing this feels like both bands have been playing together for ages. you could mix and mash who plays together
Great collaboration with two great bands. A little bit of both bands feels. Check out The Warning, they are a fantastic live band too. The ladies are fans of each other and it was born out of a chance meeting at Aftershock in 2022. Great breakdown as usual Sir. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
The Warning is my favorite band on the planet today.. try HELL YOU CALL A DREAM LIVE AT THE PEPSI CENTER CDMX OR EVOLVE LIVE AT THE MTV VMA'S 2023..Welcome to The Warning.. Live performances is their superpower.. try HELL YOU CALL A DREAM LIVE AT THE PEPSI CENTER CDMX 💥🤯
I'm seeing the Warning tonight in Pomona and tomorrow in LA! I also have tix for Guadalajara, Cologne, and London. You are in for a treat catching up on tgese talented ladies. They did a show with Band Maid in Tokyo this last June, and I was there for that, too. That's where they debuted this song. The live version was even better. I'm hoping they release it soon.
Great to see you back to doing the Maids Tony. This is a very good song and quite the collaboration. That being said, it is one of the weaker songs on their new Epic Narratives cd. I know you love the drums so not sure if you have checked out Shambles or Protect you? Akane really shines on those. She is sleepwalking through this song due to the collaboration. Rock on Tony 🤘
Thank you for the great reaction. Really appreciate the time you put into this reaction, given that the channel's focus is more on anime and video game music now. That "finally some bandmaid thing" at the end of the song was totally my first reaction. Cool song but a little out of place in a BandMaid album. Since you are looking for a new BandMaid song to react to, I have a few suggestions: 1. Hate? - official live. Video is from 7 months ago. I have a feeling you have already heard this, but if you haven't, this is the new standard for BM. It has everything I want from a BandMaid track, plus it's a live performance! "The new Domination" is how some call it as it has almost replaced Domination as an introduction to BandMaidary, but I like to call it the slower but catchier sibling of Black Hole. 2. Protect you - official music video. New track that is 100% the usual BandMaid business. Has some cool stuff going on in it, and falls in the same style/category as Sense (the one track you reacted to halfway through in the Pony Canyon 3in1 video.) 3. Forbidden tale - the newest official music video of their new album. This track is yet another variety of BandMaid. Of the new album, this is the one that surprises me the most. 4. Warning or After life - official music videos. Two older tracks from their fastest album Unseen World (the one with Black Hole in it). They are older so won't do much for the channel, but I still throw them in because they feel like the type you would enjoy.
This song grew on me over more listens. In particular, listen for Kanami during the second verse. She can't be contained. All they can do is lower her in the mix. Check out Forbidden Tale from their album that just dropped recently. It just got a video, and it's full of brain breaking Band-Maid stuff.
W I N !!!!! 🎀 W I N !!!⚡I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Tony! Btw -- I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔
What a great first show, Primus! I've been a fan of them since way back. Saw their "John the Fisherman" video on local college cable station, the summer of 1990. My first show was RATT with Lita Ford opening, 1984. My first Band Maid show, last year Minneapolis. Haven't seen The Warning yet. I love your drum speak... high school marching band flashbacks. At that time, I wanted to play in the Madison Scouts or the Phantom Regiment.
Paulina (TW drummer) reportedly recorded her parts on Akane’s kit in the studio. Normally, her snare sounds better than in this recording. The music was composed by Kanami, and the lyrics initially by Miku with subsequent modifications by TW who are much more fluent in English. The Warning’s style is less about displaying instrumental virtuosity, and more about writing very catchy hooks, riffs and harmonies, with often deep lyrics. This song certainly doesn’t represent the best in either bands’ catalogs, but was a compromise in styles and good effort given the short time they had to work on it.
Ah you discovered my favorite band of all time, well welcome to TWA,heres a little info, paw [pronounced pow] the drummer 22 won rock drummer of the year 2023,ale[pronounced ally]has a few signature bass guitars from spectra made by her design,Dany lead vocals & guitar has a couple of gifted guitars to her by matt bellamy from muse-a manson mustard yellow guitar, also a gibson explorer gifted to her by Lzzy Hale from Halestorm ,they toured with both of these bands
I'll just tell you up front, before I even watch this, you will love Pau. I just saw them here in Detroit about a week ago and I saw them in 2023 as well. Pau actually broke a drum stand at the show. Her and Akane are very different types of drummers but both serve their bands extremely well. If you have not yet please see EVOLVE performed at the Mtv music awards. My current fave by them is Automatic Sun ... the world needs more Pau bell ;) . Of course BAND MAID always rocks.
This one of the best collaborations I've ever seen. Their complimentary styles are perfectly shown and when you are dealing with 8 performers on stage, it isn't easy. I'm curious about who did the arrangement, I'm guessing primarily Kanami with Dany chipping in. You should check out the live video of this from when The Warning was in Japan and they first played it. It's quite wonderful.
They met. They said "we should collaborate." Then The Warning went to Japan and they spent a couple of weeks making this collaboration happen. For all of that, I am happy, though I'm not sure fans of either band would consider this the best of their songs. Either way, it's really more about the journey this time than the destination.
Great place to start with The Warning would be their recently-released performance of the song "Disciple" live from the Pepsi Center, CDMX. It's a great example of their live prowess. They and Band-Maid are both in that select group of groups that are actually BETTER live :)
It was written as some red line between the bands. About female "empowerment". They met during Aftershock 2022, exchanged some contact information. At this point fans started to talk: "How bout these 2 bands did some sort of collab?" Remember: Quite a few fans love both bands. Though there's some rivalry, most approve of each other. Still this seed was put in the ground, and about a year ago started on this piece, so she sent it to The Warning (probably Pau since she is the one who's come forward with their ideas). It was sent back and forth with suggestions to lyrics. Then it was reported about a TW-Japan-mini-tour, where they were supposed to share stage on equal terms with just as long sets. What they didn't report was about them going there 2 weeks earlier. The sisters, and especially Pau is very into Japanese culture, so it became some sort of job related vacation, where they tweaked on the song, which was presented at this gig. Recommend watching TWs vlog from their meeting. Though there was a bit of "lost in translation", it's very feel-good, and we see the love and respect they got for each other. Recommandations? Band-Maid - Hate? (live from Yokohama) Ridiculous version. Akane doing Akane stuff, while Misa and Kanami are flexing! Lovebites - Solider Stands Solitarily (Memorial for the warrior souls, live) Studio version is so crazy that nobody expected them to do it. Lovebites - Hold our Sake! Very fast drums. East Of Eden - Evolve (OMV) When the ride hits in after the solos. Bliss. KOIAI - A New Picture (official live), Kanade Sato is a very talented young drummer. A true chameleon that can play metal just as well as jazz. Rest of the band about just as good!
I like both bands a lot, and like Show Them, but you are correct in that this song doesn't really sound like either band, fully. Not surprising since its like a child having parts of both parents. I'm guessing you will like The Warning, for me they have passed Radiohead and Muse as my favorite band since I found them 3 years ago. Others probably have mentioned - The Warning does what they feel is best for the song, they typically are not trying to show off what great instrumentalists they are but they do put a lot of work into lyrics, hooks and melodies.
Enjoying your reactions, informative and fun 👍🏽 Couple of Band Maid suggestions - a recentish vid release - HATE? official live - lot going on in this one 🌀 And a TH-cam whack-a-mole, as in it comes and goes, vid - Turn Me On live at Zepp - which would be interesting 'cause it's more straight rock than the usual Band Maid mix 🎸
They did play this live in Tokyo with both full bands on stage at the same time. To get a first hand account of that live performance, see the video below. Dicodec - They DID IT BAND MAID X The Warning Show Them COLLAB with JohnReavesLive
Tony, the best way to check out the warnings style is to check out their track "Evolve" from the MTV music awards, they just slay it, as i understand it, all acts were given 3 trys to get it how they wanted, these ladiies walked on, ran through 2 songs one time, dropped the mic and said thats it
The other acts must have sucked if they couldn't get their songs right first go. Isn't that what every decent band does, song after song, through their whole set?
Band-Maid just released a brand new album "Epic Narratives". And just dropped and epic narrative..."Forbidden Tale" OMV. This one would definitely great your breakdown juices going. It's an amazing ride! Please do that one next from Band-Maid. PO!🕊
Great reaction! A lot of comments already for The Warning, I just say: HELL YOU CALL A DREAM, Live, Pepsi Center show - pro quality audio, you will love it, especially Pau on the drums.
I am a The Warning fan ... and a HUGE BAND MAID fan as I think you know. I saw both bands in 2023 just a couple of weeks apart and they were 2 of the most professional acts I have ever seen. The Waning is Dany (vo, gt) Pau - pronounced pow (dr, and Ale (ba).
Kanami said that she wanted to create a song that neither band typically does. She composed the base of this song, and then both bands worked together to complete the song. Btw, Pau used Akane's drum kit for the recording of this song.
Well, I like what you said. I am a fan of both bands, but both have completely different styles. As you point out, Band-Maid just blows you away with their musicianship. And if you just want to have a good time and listen to some really good straight up Rock songs, The Warning is for you. The guitarist/lead songer is Dany, the Drummer, Paulina (goes by Pau, but pronounced POW), does some lead singing herself in about 15% of their songs, who is also the main writer (she is also a classically trained pianist). Alajandra (Alé) is the bassist and back up singer. But if you want to dive into some of their top songs, I suggest a few of these: "Hell You Call a Dream" th-cam.com/video/s6b_FgQnXL8/w-d-xo.html "Automatic Sun" th-cam.com/video/PDFH9AcPpyA/w-d-xo.html "Evolve" th-cam.com/video/97Pxe9KTgJc/w-d-xo.html "Dust to Dust" with "Dull Knives" th-cam.com/video/EzA3SWkeYd8/w-d-xo.html They were also asked by Metallica to do a re-invention of Enter Sandman for their 30th Anniversary of the Black album, called Blacklist. th-cam.com/video/vg9vNE7gm0I/w-d-xo.html They are pretty talented in their own right and are fantastic performers. Dany's voice should blow you away. I hope you enjoy them.
I hear ya with the snare sound.....sound like the Big Bash Drums I started with as a child before I got lessons....Lol! Check out "Forbidden Tale" from their new album released of the 25th of September.......it's pretty busy.
Hey brother, Lynnwood checking in. You know I am a Maidiac, but have become a big fan of The Warning. You really need to check out Hate? live from the Maids. Played it during their 10th anniversary concert in Yokohama. Massive feature section with MISA, Kanami, and Akane holding the beat like she always does. The barefoot assassin gets a lot of solo time with Kanami. The Warning will not disappoint you. I feel both bands held back to make that collaboration work.
When I suggested this video, I knew you would be blown away...I find it interesting that you got so caught up in the video, that you never stopped once....good review, my friend...you need to react to Hate? by Band Maid...some good bass in that song, Mr Bass player...Rock On.....
This is the 14th best song ( out of 14) on Band-Maid's new album. Would have preferred this be a single released separately from the album ... it doesn't fit well on the Epic Narratives album.
Pau is actually playing the whole song with Akane (except for the 'battle' sections), and actually recorded the song on Akane's set. Akane said she was amazed by the power Pau was able to get out of her drums. The video is just for cool looks. The vocals are also a decent amount higher than either of them would do normally. In the PRS interview, Dany said she wanted to get Band Maid to sing in Spanish on the next collab. Really was just a fun thing for the bands to do together and certainly put a smile ony face.
If you want more info on the collab, there's an excellent print interview with all 8 on Biilboard-japan's website, use the original Japanese version translated by Google, the regular billboard's English version leaves out a lot for some reason. There's also an interview with Dany and Kanami at PRS Japan. And the behind the scenes vlog on The Warning's channel with a bunch of stuff of them writing together and in the studio. There is a live version of this song but reacting to it is an absolute no-no.
@@g.garcia7151They all gad plenty to play, especially in the context of a collaboration and a lot of people playing the one song. Paulina simps are just sad that she wasn’t in the spotlight over everyone else
This was a pretty quick collab. It's a fun thing and a fun song but is definitely on the weaker side of both bands repertoires in my opinion. Mostly there for cross-promotion. I hope you look more into The Warning. Their live game is top tier and their song writing is world class. Structure, riffs, lyrics.
You alluded to it several times, but I think especially coming into this as a Band-Maid fan, it's easy to be 'disappointed'. Not in the sense that the song is bad, but that it feels really constraining for a band with a sound as unrestrained and progressive as Band Maid. I don't think it's just a you thing, even on their new album, this track sound wise is wildly out of place as it follows Protect You, which even for a Band Maid song is an EXTREMELY Band Maid sounding song which just makes the difference stand out even more. For a Band Maid song, would love to see a reaction to 'Get to the top'; the instrumental to cap off their latest album or the Miku led 'Brightest Star'.
The one thing that can trip you up when listening to The Warning, especially when new to the band, is who is sing what and when during the song (they sound a bit like each other because they are sisters, genetics/accent/mannerisms). Daniela (Dany, guitar) sings lead on about 80% of the songs, Paulina (Pau said kind of like Pow, drums) sings lead on 20% of the songs (yes while drumming, she has a headset mic), Alejandra (Ale said something like Ah-le or Al-eh, bass) can sing lead but only does so in emergences (but sings backing all the time). So my advice is to pay attention to where the mics are and what they are doing (Dany and Ale tend to stay away from their mics if they are not singing, Pau tends to not be doing crazy drummer things when she is singing). They are one of the bands that do live well and the fans like the live videos (they have high quality videos from 2 shows, Teatro Metropólitan CDMX (2022) and Pepsi Center CDMX (2023)).
Can't go wrong when your two favorite bands decide to collaborate. You definitely need to check out more of The Warning too. I'd suggest Sharks just so you can enjoy Pau drumming and singing lead in the same song. I really enjoy this one, but it wouldn't actually make my top 5 for either of the two bands.
Very different for Band Maid and also I guess for Warning. I was really impressed with Saiki!!! She seems to have been more expressive in this because she brought more emotion to it. I love her voice anyway, but this was different. I hope she does more of this in the future. The rest of the band was great, but I felt they toned down their music to allow Warning to keep up with them. This was not bad as a whole, but I think maybe neither bands best. I am not that familiar with Warning. I felt that Band Maid were the better musicians and seemed to add more musical zest to their playing. Great reaction DRT!!!!
Dani, the opening singer and eldest sister of The Warning, has a great voice. The Warning are fluent in English, unlike Band-Maid, and Saiki said that singing with Dani improved her own English diction. Kanami wrote the song and sent it to The Warning to learn. The two bands ironed out ideas and worked up the original composition. They have different styles of playing -- Akane and Pau, Misa and Ale. Dani and Saiki have very compatible voices. Kanami pushed both Saiki and Dani to sing high. Dani got the first sound, and Misa the last. Misa said she cried when The Warning left -- she had got on well with Ale, the bassist and quietest sister of The Warning. Ale said she was impressed with Misa's switching between pick and slap -- as everyone is. There is a video online of Band-Maid and The Warning meeting by accident at a festival in America, and other videos of their time together in Japan more recently. Both bands had been following the other online before they met, and were delighted to meet in person.
They are definitely using some different influences in their newer stuff. Case in point their new song "Bestie". One of their staple older songs that I'm not seeing on you Band Maid playlist is "Real Existence" official live.. The song Real Existence will slap you back into classic Band Maid cool stuff in no time.
From my understanding they only had a short period of time while The Warning was on tour in Japan to finalize this song, record the studio version and MV and practice it for a single concert where they played it live during a joint show. What they got done with a language and cultural barrier was fairly amazing. End of the day it's a catchy song, while it's not my favorite out of either band, It does creep in as an ear worm. Also to say B-M new Album is just awesome and some new peak songs for the Band.
The Warning Army is here... Keep on going down the rabbit hole. You found the back door into the world of The Warning via the Band Maid cross-fandom. Check out the gateway performance, for many, of Evolve at the 2023 MTV VMAs. You won't be disappointed! ... and there's so, so much more too.
Yeah yeah absolutely, this one feels more like The Warning songs. It's still very fun, of course. You should check out something from Hagane's new EP if you haven't yet... JUNNA (drummer) joined the band 👀
If you want to see The Warning at their full power, check out the video "Dust to Dust / Dull Knives (Cut Better)" live at the Pepsi Better. You'll love it.
The Warning are great, but still up and coming. Touring hard the past couple if years. Saw them just last night in a sold out 800 person venue. Their manager said that this will probably be their last tour playing a lot of clubs. Expect bigger things from them upcoming.
Def a different vibe!
What did you think?
Bro, will you react to dandadan op song by creepy nuts? I want to watch your reaction video on the song
Vinland saga s2 op4 pls😢
I'm not a fan of Warning, nor of Pau Villarreal... but I must point out that she won the Drumeo 2023 "Rock Drummer of the Year" award.😲
Misa is reported to have cried when they parted. (Reported by Misa.)
@@charleswharmbyiii8401@ charleswharmbyiii8401 Misa really felt connected with the 11-year-younger Alejandra since they both appear more shy than their band mates. But Ale is mostly polite towards her older sisters and in general is pretty confident in herself. The reason she does not sing lead is simply that she never had the urge to do it.
ooh tony should do this video at some point. Maybe after seeing some The Warning videos first?
The Warning is currently releasing their show from Pepsi Center CDMX (ie. Mexico City) last year. It is pro-shot and a good way to start with The Warning as they are an outstanding live band -- it is their superpower....
They performed this live in Japan. The vibe was unreal! My two favorite bands 🤘🤘
That concert was one of the best I've ever seen.
still can't believe I was actually there!
Yes pls!!
Their latest release "Forbidden Tale" will get you back on the Band-Maid trail in style. I think you'll find a ton to dig into there.
Fantastic job Tony! This was a surprise collab and it came off super awesome! Loved it and if they do more that would be pretty cool!
Thanks you So much Tony.
Please React to The Warning. "Dust to Dust/Dull Knives" live from The Pepsi Center Cdmx.
wow, thanks!!!!
Yes yes &Yes🌎✌️🦈🦈🦈🦈
Dust to Dust/Dull Knives (cut better) Pepsi Center cdmx is friggin brilliant... 💥🤯
That is an excellent suggestion! Pure adrenaline!!
I was at that show in Tokyo! And I'm seeing them tonight in Pomina and tomorrow in LA.
Ale is the youngest, Pau is next, with Dany being the oldest. I believe they are now 19, 21, and 24.
I'm sorry, I misread your post.
@@charleswharmbyiii8401 It happens, no big deal.
Ale ,Dec 13 2004
Pau ,Feb 5 2002
Dany ,Jan 30 2000
Yes! I've been waiting for you to get into The Warning. Hope you check out more of their stuff!
Remember, live is their superpower.
Also Pau sings lead on some songs while playing the drums and I know you like a singing drummer.
Dust To Dust, Disciple, and Narcisista for example
If you want to check out The Warning, I suggest "Automatic Sun"
Love that song
Now you have to react The Warnimg Dust to Dust/Dull Knives live at Pepsi Center!!
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song
Me & GF spent 10 days in Japan.
Hi. Lol. Wish you were coming to the shows tonight and tomorrow.!
@@charleswharmbyiii8401 wish I could afford to!
• The lyrics are a really strong empowering message IMHO
• I like that they did not try to do too much, which on one hand makes the music a bit less complex than either band’s other offerings, but it makes it that 8 players can play it and make it clean.
This three-piece is:
Daniela (Dany, 24yo, guitar)
Paulina (Pau, as in POW-er, 22yo, drums)
Alejandra (Ale, pronounced AH-lay, 19yo, bass)
All three sisters sing, and all are classically trained on piano.
From The Warning’s TH-cam page you might choose from:
- Disciple, Hell You Call a Dream, Z, Dust to Dust/Dull Knives, or Choke or anything else from their 2023 Pepsi Center Live performance
- MORE or EVOLVE from the MTV VMAs
- S!CK or Automatic Sun live studio performances from either MTV Push or Jimmy Kimmel
- The official music video for their new releases Six Feet Deep, S!CK or Que Mas Quieras (in Spanish)
- The official music video for XXI CENTURY BLOOD
- SURVIVE from their 2017 TedX talk
There are really no bad choices.
Welcome back to Band-Maid!!! Band-Maid Forbidden Tale. Thanks and have a good day!!!
This song does a great job incorporating their different styles and abilities into a straight-up collaboration where they are "billed equally."
There are a couple of interviews where Dany (lead for the Warning) speaks about Band-Maid's ability with obvious admiration.
THE WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍 Two bands i love... together!! AMAZING!
Great collaboration with two great bands. A little bit of both bands feels. Check out The Warning, they are a fantastic live band too. The ladies are fans of each other and it was born out of a chance meeting at Aftershock in 2022. Great breakdown as usual Sir. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
You need to check out the new MV from Band Maid "Forbidden Tale". It has everthing we love about Band Maid.
They played it live together in Japan. There was the videos floating around but I don't know if you're out there anymore. Pretty awesome!
That was going to be my recommendation, too.
The drummer is Princess Pau Po !
Have been looking for this reation for a while. as good as ever
Thank you for the great reaction. Really appreciate the time you put into this reaction, given that the channel's focus is more on anime and video game music now. That "finally some bandmaid thing" at the end of the song was totally my first reaction. Cool song but a little out of place in a BandMaid album.
Since you are looking for a new BandMaid song to react to, I have a few suggestions:
Has some cool stuff going on in it, and falls in the same style/category as Sense (the one track you reacted to halfway through in the Pony Canyon 3in1 video.)
I like Band-Maid, love The Warning. My all-time favourite band. And one of the sisters is my all-time favourite musician.
Maidiacs and The Warning Army have been united in purpose.
The Warning are phenomenal
Tony if your interested, there is a behind the scenes video of Band Maid and The Warning on The Warnings channel.
Welcome back, Master Tony, Po! 🕊️
It was written as some red line between the bands.
About female "empowerment".
They met during Aftershock 2022, exchanged some contact information.
At this point fans started to talk: "How bout these 2 bands did some sort of collab?"
Remember: Quite a few fans love both bands.
Nice one Tony. The new MV for Forbidden Tales from BM will make you happy 🙂
Whenever I hit up TH-cam there’s a small part me that hopes today will be the day to see you react to Band-Maid’s “Hate?”. Such a good time.
Enjoying your reactions, informative and fun 👍🏽
Couple of Band Maid suggestions - a recentish vid release - HATE? official live - lot going on in this one 🌀
And a TH-cam whack-a-mole, as in it comes and goes, vid - Turn Me On live at Zepp - which would be interesting 'cause it's more straight rock than the usual Band Maid mix 🎸
Subscribed for more The Warning. Deep rabbit hole that you'll definitely enjoy.
I;m with you just a great rock song. Yep i've listen a few times for fun.
Welcome to The Warning. They are best live. Subscribed
Band-Maid just released a brand new album "Epic Narratives". And just dropped and epic narrative..."Forbidden Tale" OMV. This one would definitely great your breakdown juices going. It's an amazing ride! Please do that one next from Band-Maid. PO!🕊
And The Warning recently released Keep Me Fed...
Tony....where ya been bro....lots of maids to catch up on. Thanks for giving us NittPik tho
Check out any of The Warning's stuff from the MTV Awards, especially 'Evolve'.
The one, Tamaya! and Toi et Moi are favourite songs so far.
But if you want to dive into some of their top songs, I suggest a few of these:

"Dust to Dust" with "Dull Knives"

They were also asked by Metallica to do a re-invention of Enter Sandman for their 30th Anniversary of the Black album, called Blacklist.

They are pretty talented in their own right and are fantastic performers.
DrumRollTony you should really check out the dandadan opening its pretty good.
Hmmmm. Interesting.
The live version was way better. I was there!
I’m glad to know this. One thing that has always nagged me was that Pau seemed to be criminally underused on the song.
@@g.garcia7151They all gad plenty to play, especially in the context of a collaboration and a lot of people playing the one song. Paulina simps are just sad that she wasn’t in the spotlight over everyone else
The warning is one of the best rock bands around, check em' out!
You have to check the live video of Hate! or the recent MV of forbidden tale. Cool reaction. Thanks.
Welcome to The Warning . .
Have subbed for more by them .
Till next time take care
Bye from New Zealand 👋🇳🇿👍🍻twa
You're about to be attacked by the "Warning Army", duck!
The Warning!! 🔥 🤘
BAND-MAID "HATE" Live from Yokohama arena please.
I've never seen Tony not stop a video. Still my favorite reactor.
Yea definitely breaks the rules 👀
Mine was Rush back in early 80s.
The Warning is amazing too!!!
I agree
The Warning are now reaching Super Star Status. Yep.
