Once when running the game for a group of kids new to ttrpg, I bought several sets of dice where each die type was a different color. I had pre gen characters and the sheets were also color coded. It was much easier to tell them to roll the green die, for example, than telling them to use the eight sided die.
Also in general, I’ve found it best to ask players what they want their character to do and for me as the GM to apply the rules. Tell them they can try anything … they don’t have to know the rules to start playing the game. They’ll usually pick it up as they go.

I love that idea with the dice and completely agree with asking what they want to do outside of the game rules. That is true not just for Savage Worlds but for all game systems.

I want to GM Savage Worlds and I think I get the core mechanics, but I'm finding that the Situational Rules are a bit overwhelming, what would be the best way for me to get my head wrapped around these?

I did a couple of combat test. 3-4 wildcards vs 1 enemy wildcard. It was lengthy at first me going back and forward checking the various situational rules but really it pay off

Well, what situations? It occurs to me that as the GM, you control the situations, so picks the ones you want to test or practice.

The nice part about Savage Worlds is that if you miss situational rules, it's not the end of the world. There were some situational rules that I don't worry about when teaching. Basically stripping the game down a little bit. When I think a combat may be hard, I let them know about Wild Attack.
