      Confession. I really only play acoustic. One imbibed night after seeing all these youtubers pitching this I spent money I didn’t have and ordered one. Like everyone else I waited months for it to. Come. Just as I was losing hope it showed up. All the time waiting for it researched what it could do. I knew it was a powerful tool and now it was here and I suddenly realized. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO USE THIS THING 🤪
      Long way to say. Thanks for the lesson!

      @@8wheeledassassins. Ovation Elite and Fishman bridge pickup here. I agree, the Spark is intimidating. I got my Spark as just a step off "open box" on eBay. The seller was so intimidated he sold it, went with a Katana. There are some basic things that IMHO PG completely punted on. Their idea of a manual is ...um... you're kidding, right? In the end, the best move is to just fiddle with stuff, and keep watching videos for various hints and clues. Heck of a way to go, but not much else unless you're plugging in a StratPaulCaster335.

    u recently got a spark amp aswell and i gotta say its amazing, you can get and replicate tones very closely and it just sounds nice!
    that being said it has a steady learning curve and definitely requires getting used to(mostly because theres so many options built in that you gotta learn that it could take time getting used to it)
    but the amp is amazing and i think its well worth the price

    More than a year on I'm still enjoying my Spark amp. One of my favourite clean tones is, unsurprisingly, one of my own.... It's called PF Run Like Hell (the Marc Cote patch... there are several with the same name). It's actually a patch that I created for Jamup and it somehow got ported over (without my doing anything) from that Tone Cloud to the Spark cloud. It sounds a little different but still damn good. It seems many agree with me... it's been downloaded many times and has many likes.

    I love those beautiful clean tones with nothing hidden behind distortion or overdrive. What a nice way to practice. I particularly liked the Hall Reverb, and Delay. I thought the Chorus could use a bit more shimmer in the highs. Is there any kind of "Presence" control on the unit or effects? Thanks

    Thanks Darrel, great vid. I've noticed your PS5 like others have. I hope the back of your unit is well ventilated. I'm not sure about the PS5 but the PS4 and 3 before it vents hot air out of the sides /back. If you put it in an enclosed space, the hot air will bounce back and feed back into your playstation. It will take a whole but it'll ultimately break your playstation (melt the soldering inside). If you hear the fans in the PlayStation getting really loud, it's because they're working overtime to exhaust hot air and need cool air coming in. Which can't happen if the PlayStation is enclosed. I learned this the hard way. Sorry if you're aware of this already but just seen it and thought I'd mention it

    • @elzafir

  • @SDisonYT
    @SDisonYT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I like the Spark, but I sent mine back and bought the Fender GTX instead. I don’t like that the Spark forces you to use pedals in specific places in the chain. The GTX lets you put any pedal in any position you want.
    I also think if the Spark had a foot switch, an on amp display, and a Spring Reverb pedal, all of which the GTX offers I would be more inclined to keep it.
    The GTX50 is $80 more, but it has way more flexibility, plus a 12” celestion speaker, which blows the little 4” Spark speakers away.

    If I didn’t already have the black one, I’d get the pearl. I found that I can run the audio output from my MacBook Pro to the aux input on the back. Then I launch GarageBand and play one of my recordings and play along with it.

    I've been toying with the idea of getting a Katana Air, but think I'm going to go for a Spark instead. It does a lot more, and I can get a Getaria wireless system and still be out of pocket less than I would on the Katana (one of the attractions of which is the built-in wireless).

    Wow awesome tones; what a huge money saver too to access so many options. If you were to DI - do you recommend for logic recording to go direct from spark into Logic or still go through a true interface (I use an axe i/o) first?

    • @DarrellBraunGuitar
      @DarrellBraunGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi!
      If you didn't want to mic it, you could take a signal from the headphone output to your audio interface or use the USB. Both options work well :)

    I keep hearing how this amp can listen to music and tell you the chords and can cue up backing tracks to jam along to etc. Yet I have neve once seen a video showing how this amp does any of this.

    I was considering buying one but am aware on the Positive Grid blog there are people complaining how base heavy this is, and that the mid and highs are drowned out. Has anyone had issues with too much base? There is no EQ apparently, which is quite odd. Any help or suggestions/ comments to help me make a decision would be great. Like this video I like clean and high tones. Thanks!

    Did you encounter any crazy hummy noises comming out of your Spark amp - no matter what guitar or tone you're using? I've had such an amp a couple of months ago and unfortunately had to return it due to this very annoying hum.

    I noticed yours has a ‘wrinkled’ effect around the edges like mine, I don’t really like that it bugs me, but maybe it’s my OCD. Just my other normal amps have that leather look but are smooth like the rest of the amp at the edges and not wrinkled.
