Hi Brendan, I hope you can help me... I'm looking everywhere for this info.... for the imageprograf 2100, when you move it, will it pass in a 28.5 inch door ? of course, before installing it. thanks
The terrifying part is gonna be the the display reading 'INK TANKS EMPTY' which of course leads to the ATM reading 'BANK ACCOUNT NOW EMPTY'. ha ha.... It's a beast of a printer though man.
Thank you so much it's so so helpful your energy and your excitement I wish you the best I wish you that you going to be very successful with this printer thank you so much
Lots of luck with what you guys are doing. Looking forward to the next video and I will definitely have a look and get one of your prints soon. Cheers.
I'm glad to see you again Brendan. I have the Canon Pixma IX6850 for domestic use, quite nice and prints up to +A3. But your is a massive one, have a good work. Cheers
Thanks for the video Brendan - If I was to print a photo with a border on A1 paper, is the border evenly distributed around photo, or will I be required to tidy edge with guillotine after?
Nice, I bought the Pro2000 in late 2019 at a steal! A few months later the 2100 came out (I think that was why I got a deal). Go ahead and buy more Ink, the starter set will dry up just filling up the lines and print head. You will love this printer. I do!
Brendan, can I ask an unrelated question? My current tripod was ok when I started my photography journey but now I have a 70-200 sigma lens ball head doesn’t lock into the correct position especially at slight angles. You see the lens drop slightly so you almost have to compose the shot higher than required to allow the drop. I would like to replace my tripod with carbon fibre and a head that locks where I pointed it. Any suggestions? I like the look of 3 legged things tripods but wondered what you might suggest? Thanks
Mark, are you putting a quick release on the lens itself? That usually helps balance it. If the lens doesn't have a tripod quick release, you definitely need a stronger ball head. None of the pro ones "lock" they just tighten enough (and easily) so that the lens doesn't droop. The 3LT ball heads are great.
The studio is beginning to look more like a studio with the prints on the wall and the prints look like they came out great👌. good luck with your printing business🤞 Can't wait for a Covid-19 vaccine so we can travel without 14 day quarantines, unless there's a 14-Day quarantine photo workshop 😂😂😂 if only it were possible🤔

I know you want to focus on your own stuff right now. Maybe in the future, if sales slow down , you could feature a friend, or someone in the community for a month. Possibly kick the price up to 40€ and kick back 5-10€ per print to the photographer. One way you could make it more unique, or use it as a “thank you”, is to feature work taken during your workshops. Either from a group or individual. Just thoughts. Congrats on getting stuff done. Looks great!
Congrats on the printer I just got mine last week but having trouble with it , the prints come out nice but when you touch the prints they smear. Did you ever or know someone with this printer that had that problem ?
I Just find your channel, and from the images I saw on instagram, I started following immediately... Well done, amazong moments. Even if a bit late, you are more than welcome to Portugal. I watch your video about the reasons why this move, and all makes sense, just missing a few more... Food ;), Safety (third safest in the world), Cost of living, Weather (for an European country, especially in Algarve), Health Care.. (13rd int he world), etc. I´m from the North, Porto, but living close to Viseu and to the Serra da Estrela, a region you should visit to produce some amazing photos. ...and finally about the printer, also this year I made the same step, and invested in a similar printer, the 4100, so if you ever need to print larger than 24 ", just let me know. Cheers
Great video Brendan, kicking myself I didn’t grab one when the Photography Show was on in September, but Covid cut earnings significantly:( NB found the Fotospeed Metallic lustre paper is a beauty for seascape photos. It has a nice “soft” metallic look (ie doesn’t have that overly tacky look on some papers). If you’ve not already explored it have a look into the accounting software for the Pro 2100, as it’s a good way of monitoring your print costs. Also good if you plan to make the printer earn its keep and offer a print service.
After watching I had to look up that printer. What a beast. It looks like it does an amazing job though. The print of Monkey looks great. You have come a long ways from the first video of your's I watched, I think you were visiting the Cinque Terre.

I love watching your videos from the Netherlands, would love to buy one of your photos (not sure which one, still looking around), but I see the dimensions are 21x26 (cm). Would like a nice frame for it, what dimensions should I look for (for the frame)?
The frame should be 8x10" which I believe is 21x26. I send instructions after purchase. But, the best thing to do is to buy the print then take it to a photo shop to have them put it in a frame. That way they can cut down the edges if needed. Appreciate the support!

The studio is still in progress but the foam tiles have helped the sound immensely. Jealous of that printer! I presume you won't resell the images you already sold as limited editions; that would seem wrong to the current owners. Or am I wrong?
Well mate, big printer, big responsibility. That is, if you want to see it continue to purr and churn out crisp prints. These beasts aren't designed to sit long periods of time between jobs, so you need to print something fairly regularly. Now then with that out of the way, here's an idea for you when you're not printing your own images for your photography clients. With your octopus model of multiple income streams uppermost in mind; you can put your printer to work printing other people's product - offer it as an extra byproduct service (because hey the printer can help pay for it's own life), and that's an extra stream of income to maybe help you finish fixing up the shop, as well as financing more papers and inks. Cheers bub, @DarkWaterPhotoMedia
Looks a beast of a printer BvS and having just bought a Canon Pro10s recently, Im loving the chance to see some of my own work in print and gives a sense of closure. Your prints look superb and certainly adds to the aesthetics of your studio.
You said you’d sell any print you ever made. What about your limited edition prints already sold? Would they retain their value if a 5-copy premium becomes a 500-copy for the masses?
If you sell images as a 5-copy, it's based on the size/paper. So you can do limited runs at different sizes. For example, the same picture has a 5-limit run at 32x24". But, that same photo also has a 50-limit run as 8x11". If that makes sense.
You call the shots. So if everyone understands that for you premium is a matter of size, not of exclusivity, fine. Personally, an image with just 5 copies ever printed and signed carries much more value than one with hundreds of siblings, irrespective of the size.

Your studio is looking great, and those photos on the wall really work. I'd wondered how it would look in amongst the foam, but it really looks great. Glad to see Mongolia in front. That was a great photo. Wish I'd been feeling well enough to get out there for those shots. Oh well. Loved the pic of Monkey. Glad things are coming along. Cheers. :) Paula
The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.
Fantastic Brendan! Being able to do your own prints must be very very satisfying. I would love to be able to do that but the cost of such a large printer is far to expensive for me. I have a great print studion that does a brilliant job and very professional framing as well. (still want my own printer though LOL)
Brendan since you didn't mention it I believe Canon did not warn. In order for the printer head not to become clogged you must not turn off the printer and must disable the sleep function on it. That will allow the printer to perform the head cleaning process whenever it needs to. Also, Hahnumele fine art paper is very sensitive to fumes and temperature changes. If you ever paint your studio or the area where the printer is, you must take the paper out until all the fumes have been dissipated. Other wise you'll end up with yellowish paper/prints.
Wow, Wow. So many people took your advice and made the choice to not sell prints because of the way you have ALWAYS talked smack about doing it and now it's O.K for you. Ya your just a hypocrite!
Go back and watch the video. I talk about how to better sell prints. Sure, I talk smack about people selling prints when they don't have a market or a way to sell them, though. That doesn't make me a hypocrite. it makes me someone who talks sense. Would you try to sell coffee sell coffee without a coffee shop? Probably not. Most photographers try to sell prints without a store, gallery, website, etc. It just doesn't make sense.

Fantastic Brendan! Being able to do your own prints must be very very satisfying. I would love to be able to do that but the cost of such a large printer is far to expensive for me. I have a great print studion that does a brilliant job and very professional framing as well. (still want my own printer though LOL)
Hi Brendan, if help is needed, just say 👍
Thanks!
Like a kid at Christmas 🎄 😄 (I would be too).
I heard you printed monkey out with a tiff file? Why tiff and not jpeg?
cool
That chunky printer weighs over 220lbs, wow.
Getting it down the stairs was one of the greatest battles and successes of my life hahaha
I'm a photographer based in portimao if you need any help
Thanks! Appreciate it.
@@BrendanvanSon let me know where your office is and I'll pop by one of these days
About $2500, and about $70 per ink cartridge!!!
No friends Brendan!! really? I see 157K friends dude. Heck pay for my return flight and I'll come over and help..... Awesome
That's going to cost you a fortune in ink !! My little Pixma Pro 100S is bad enough :-)
The sound sucks, please use a lav mic.
P.S. Even if I did tell people not to sell prints because it's a bad business... that doesn't make me a hypocrite. It makes me an idiot. haha
