I've long said this is what separates an average e-sports caster apart from a great caster, adding information into the cast rather than narrating what is happening on screen. Tastosis did this to great effect, and it really adds to the engagement even if you already know the info.
Also a healthy sprinkling of opinion is another great oratory feature

@@PiGCasts I actually grew up in Germany. Played with [pG] Korn, Fisheye, OgerEli, etc. Starcraft 1. Then transitioned to Warcraft 3 xD. Then poker. Super standard career path. Lol.

can someone explain to me why playing on different servers matters in high level SC play? what does Pig mean when he talks about "variable ping" of 130 or 140? Doesn't Star Craft play the same no matter where you are in the world? Someone please help explain. Thanks!
There's a delay between the orders you give and the game server recieving them. When you've got a European vs Asian player then the "middle" servers are either US Central (chicago) or US West (California). Asians get slightly better ping to California, Europeans slightly better to chicago. So they'll alternate servers each game to make it as fair as possible
To expand on the technical side, _SC2_ uses server-based networking (ie, the two players' games are "talking" to a regional server run by Blizzard, and not to each other) but doesn't use any form of lag compensation, unlike virtually all multiplayer games made in the last decade. That means that if you have a 100ms ping, then when you tell a unit to do something, there is a 10th of a second of delay before it actually starts doing it.
Needless to say, this means that ping is a much bigger deal when playing _SC2_ than more recent games, and the player with the highest ping is at a disadvantage. Since ping tends to get higher the farther from the server you are, a player in Korea will have _very_ different pings to the various servers than a player in Europe, and the choice of server will inevitably favor one player over the other. The best that can be done is to choose the two servers where the players' pings will be as similar as possible and then alternate.
BTW, I'm not bad-mouthing Blizzard here. Lag compensation is basically a form of algorithmic wizardry, and was uncommon when _SC2_ was released. While that changed not long after, adding it after the fact would've required dumping all of _SC2's_ netcode in the trash and replacing it with something a whole lot more complicated and demanding, requiring not only a whole lot of very expensive programming but a major upgrade in server hardware, too.

yeah and vipers even more so, definitely worth if you realise you can't come back to try and use spore/queen/infestor/viper to get back into it

I play d2, and even there, they micro well enough to isolate PB muta. It’s assumed at pro level. Micro too good. FG, they can’t micro, and guaranteed mass damage. Thoughts?
PS, been watching for years. I watch other casters and appreciate them too. Though, I believe your casting to be a step above. While the other generally just react to what happens, your grasp of intricate strategy as the games unfold is transcendent. It has helped my own game develop into d2. Many thanks and keep it up!!
Started as a ZvZ and then went pure TvT. That was a full mirror match team series.
Though, I enjoyed them all the same.

Does anyone have any tips for how to hold the attack from game 1? Have died multiple times to this on ladder.
i know elazer, lambo, and serral sometimes build an evo chamber wall to delay the building of spines which gives the defending player more time to pump out units
If you go pool before hatchery, you can get lings out to fight alongside your drones well before the spines are ready

that first game is why i insta dodge zvz. The ladder is riddled with garbage like that… Then i saw the rest of the cast which was GREAT, just super disappointed that it was all tvt. Mirrors are just such a pain to watch.
I still believe even if Clem beats Maru in a head to head, Maru is still the better player. If Anything, Clem is eligible to usurp Byun's title of "Micro Jackson". Clem might be the best at harassing mineral lines.
idk about Clem taking Byun's title. Clem's multi-prong / micro has been insane, but I watched Byun single-handedly get a unit nerf'd multiple times. He was feared and revered b/c of it.

man, they Ride Clem hard and put him away wet. once he was out it was checkmate. Maru may have won the game but Ryung is the mvp breaking the back if Clem to get that ace match. im a fan of these guys mostly Terran but even i know there's no one that can beat Maru on that team other then clem.

Clem didn't stay longer than he needed in game 1. He waited until Maru didn't have time to react to saving his second natural. Some times I question Pig's game IQ.

Sometimes when I cast I say things wrong or misread something. If you post a timestamp I will be able to see the moment you're talking about and it'll help me improve for the future.
I think you were talking about 55:53 ? He could have saved all of those marines and still done massive damage at the 3rd, there's no way Maru would have got down there in time to defend it. In isolation the stay in the main turned into an inefficient and bad fight.
I even said 1) stayed too long 2) but it opened up a new avenue for attack 3) it was worth it.
Sometimes commenters leave some banger advice and feedback, I don't think this is one of those moments

Either way he would have won and yes, he could have saved them but I don't think Clem made a mistake, I may be wrong but it appeared that he was buying time to setup the death blow. There are very few people in the world qualified to cast at the frenetic pace SC2 has...PIG's channel alone is enough to qualify his game IQ. Makes me question your MR / server / and how many professional games you've solo casted.
