Был на их концерте в Москве. Тогда какой-то хрен потерял свой телефон и полез жаловаться на сцену. Но билет на этот концерт подарила мне моя будущая жена. До сих пор лучший её подарок. SIOA We are still waiting you in Moscow! Please, visit us just one more time! You are the best!
Scratch the Surface was my first real NYHC album back when I was like 12. I got STS and Time2Shine at the same time from a good friends older brother . RIP Luke.
I'm a hiphop head from Barcelona Also MC...been in the Game since the 90's...two lps out thers.....i enjoyed this back in the day un my teenies...and i listen to It in my 40s...this is bigger than kind of music Styles and atemporal...
The Gorilla, Lawnmower, Windmill, California Version of Classic N.Y. Style, Pickin' Up Change, and at least one of the three Emo Style guys are all from New Jersey.
I miss the old days. I'd do anything to go back and live my life again. Even though it's been a hard life, full of pain, anger, misery, fear and regrets.... I would love to do it all again Especially all the sex and drugs. Man, I've got away with some shit..... To the grave
yo can anyone help me with the following: if you were around in the early 90s nyhc scnene was there a) a friendly banter towards cali hardcore or genuine beef? and b) did new york heads hate even the late 80s early 90s versions of emotional hardcore? I'm asking because the "emo kids" and "cali style" were the two sketches that always stood out for me in this awesome music video. I'm an 1989 baby, so obviously I got into SOIA way later and only got in the scene around 04-05 where shit was slowly coming down. Thanks guys and girls. P.S. Any info on how the NY style dance started would be super super appreciated. Does it have early 80's roots? Was it a general East Coast style of dance, or was it a New York thing. Cheers.
I know that Roger Miret from Agnostic Front was a longtime supporter of Orange County‘s Insted. They are even friends as of today. Also Revelation Records, the label of Ray Cappo from Youth Of Today, signed a lot of Cali bands and NYC bands like Warzone and Sick Of It All. There wasn‘t any beef, but it‘s that typical East Coast - West Coast thing that one of the scenes must be better, no matter what (take the sampler ‚This is Boston, not LA‘ as an example). Same goes for hiphop. But I know for sure that „harder“ bands like Madball or Sick Of It All disliked the emo wave of hardcore that came up in the early 90s. A lot of fans did as well.
@@patrickloveslive I can see why they would view early 90s emo as funny, weak, and inferior, but what about 80s “emocore” from like DC? I wonder if original hardcore kids respected that sound at all.
@@patrickloveslive I don’t see any reason to think that SOIA or Madball didn’t like emo. SOIA did an interview in Anti-Matter, which was written by Norm Brannon from Texas is the Reason. They seemed very friendly. Norm also talks about playing shows with Madball and Freddy showing respect. Ultimately I think it was just friendly ribbing. Sure the emo kids look nerdy, but they’re also *there*. If you hated emo you could just pretend they don’t exist or weren’t a part of the scene.
If they invent time travel, that’s a possible happy place, Bros and Broads, everyone’s a sibling regardless of being an only child. The smell of spilt dried beer and stale cigarette smoke should be a scented candle. Celebration of life and solid work ethic. Damn I miss them days, but this shits a great sub to get your head straight to!🤘😝✊
Where has hardcore punk been all my life? This is great.
