Tbh there's 3 kind of patience : - being able to wait doing nothing (ie waiting in line and shit like that) - being able to remain calm while doing something that doesn't work out as it's supposed to - being able to stay calm doing an activity that takes a lot of time but works as it's supposed to.
This is truly not as easy as you’re making it seem although at the end you confess it took you 6hrs which is on par with my experience. By far one of the more tedious customizations I’ve done on a friends car and now mine. Requires a ton of patience and bleeding hands! Lol
Bro...I’ve just decided the other day that I wanted to just keep my car instead of buying another bmw and just do mods to it...this is something I’m gonna definitely do to it. Thanks bro!!
You are talented at filming and sewing. Before watching your video, I would never have dreamed of doing this. Now, I just might. Wow does that look wonderful.
This is actually a great instructional video, but for anyone wanting to do this, please just take your steering wheel off! All you have to do is discconnet the battery, remove the airbag and whip the wheel off by removing the 16mm centre bolt. It's soooo much better being able to move the wheel around wherever you want when you're stitching, and obviously means you can just do it in your house rather than being sat in the car - makes it actually quite a nice process!
i have the same leather from aliexpress (26$) but with black stitching and the sport steering wheel, it looks and feels awesome, i did it a year ago, and still looks brand new. if you want i can send you some pictures
Your steering wheel looks amazing Jake! The leather and M colour trim gives an extremely sexy look. Loved the video as always, gave us all the information we needed and a thorough guide. Thank you, couldn't be better!
I hear the Lifters common problem from what I read sounds like a diesel when running guess it's really not an issue but if didnt sound good when he turned the wheel never heard that before.
@@matt.108 Cold Start your talking about it just being cold ? Or it has cold start? Cause if it has cold start it should sound quiet likes it's been running for awhile. Yea could be air power sterring. Either way dont think it's nothing to be to concerned about!
Steven Saunders pretty sure it’s just air in the power steering. I had that problem last year and just topped off the fluid and turned the wheel a few times. Went away. Sounded exactly like his car. Lifters would be a really loud tick. That was more of a grinding buzzing noise you would get from a pump trying to move air bubbles.
New subscriber and I've been on a marathon with your channel. Your videos are the best! My Mewant is on it's way for my '07 335i and I can't wait. Keep these coming!
I have been looking for a quality steering wheel cover for years. I hate the UNI Fit covers that is commonly sold. I have used similar products like this in the late 70's but I have not seen the quality covers as is from MEWANT until now. Thank you for the Video. It reminds me of the one that I put on my 66 Mustang, back in the day.
I bought one for mine direct from MeWant for about 25.00. Ebay is selling them for 122.00.. I think I messed up and got the dark Blue Threading but the Threading on the cover is blue also. But I will go to a Fabric store and get some Red if I need to. Again Thanks for the info. It was very valuable information.
I just ordered one of these yesterday and your video popped up on my feed today so it was an interesting watch. You made a great job of it. I was concerned how well it would fit around the spokes so I’m quite relieved it looks good. I’m starting with an M Sport wheel so hopefully it will feel even thicker at the end.
Nicely done. Most of the others I’ve seen so far don’t use much if any tape. I can see benefits either way, but the test is how it holds up after a year or two.
I did this on my WRX and didn’t use much tape. I bought this again for my BMW and will definitely follow his actions. You were able to rotate the wrap fairly easy without the tape.
it would look better with a little adhesive lie flat on the wheel and maybe a few extra stitches and it won't be so noticeable. This looks like something that cannot be avoided with any stitch on cover but there are ways to make it look less noticeable.
im gonna have to take mine to a shop or something because at the bottom when i start stitching, bubbles start to form and it gets really annoying. idk how yours looks so good

@jdcars i have a 07 bmw and i was looking at the steering wheel covers i dont see one with the bulges on the steering wheel with the red stripe. i have looked everywhere the only one with bulges that i found was the suede steering wheel and my steering wheel is a sport model
One other thing I would highly reccomend is wiping down the sterring wheel with some alcohol you would be amazed how much dirt is on the the wheel especially the top even if you dont think so trust me. That way you get a good bond and material wont start to twist down the road!!
Looks great. Was there just not enough material to finish wrapping around the bottom of the steering wheel. I just noticed on the bottom oeft side under the airbag it didnt look complete. Sick otherwise tho. Nice mod
Dont do what he did a major step that was missed and you dont want to miss before pulling off adhesive make sure you put seam together at center or seam on steering wheel. The other thing you dont want to do is put adhesive where the material tucks in bring it back so adhesive when tucked should only be on original steering wheel face!! A perfect video to watch as it is same process from different chinese company is from Loncky Steering wheel covers. It's really not that hard but make sure you take time and follow instructions. The leather or material should be scribed a little on back side where it tucks that is where you dont want to put adhesive as I can assure you it will not come untucked. If it does you have problems with origanal wheel! Hope this info helps! But still was a decent video. Oh FYI when putting on cover line the 6 O'clock position first then put your knee under sterring wheel and hold with knee will go on a lot easier and you won't get frustrated also will go on pretty aligned. Happy Sewing it will take a couple hrs at least!
Almost forgot there are 2 torx screws on each side of wheel in the back at 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock take those out it will loosened those controls to help tuck!! Your Welcome

I'd be more worried about the startup sound than the wheel
Just sounds like he has some air in the power steering Easy fix. Also could be a cold start. N52/N54s are pretty noisy when they are cold.
I hear the Lifters common problem from what I read sounds like a diesel when running guess it's really not an issue but if didnt sound good when he turned the wheel never heard that before.

Just steal one lol
Let it soak in warm water for a few minutes. You'll get a softer material that allows for more stretching with less force.
After you finish your work you just let it dry out which will stretch it nicely and evenly in a fashion you could never achieve by hand.
Good tip.
Also no horrid stretch marks on the leather
So how are you suppose to get the tape to stick if it's wet??
Great video; I would take the buttons and airbag off first.
6 hours ?!?!?!? took me about 45 minutes on my e46 and was my first time wrapping a steering wheel !
I also had to film the entire process!
That's true filming just multiplies the time you need to do anything by like a million, seems more accurate now ^^

Yes, it should!
Did that wheel cover hold up?

adrian wong just look for the model of your car, different generations have different steering wheel models.

How does this hold up with a heated steering wheel ?
It should hold up just fine given it is stitched on. Maybe use a glue stronger than the adhesive.
Thanks JD Cars
How does this affect the heating on a heated steering wheel?
Not sure... I didn't have a heated steering wheel
