@@markmorrison7342Thanks for the clarification, Mark. You guys doing a video on them any time soon to get a bit more depth on how the Atlas would be different from Burton’s current step on bindings?
At 2:23 you mention you’re riding “Union Atlas Setp-on” bindings!? I’ve been looking for them online but can’t find them!? Currently on some Burton genesis step ons and I had no idea Union made them!?
@@tributeboardshop Would love to see Union design a release mechanism similar (better 🤷♂) to the Clews..I would never swap the Step On bindings for the Clews (I have the X & Genesis EST), but with mittens the release mechanism is the weak link in the Step On design.
Dreamy !!! The big variable was how much snow there was. All I could really test was how they trimmed out while staying close to their reference stances. I'll be taking it out soon on the groomers.
We compile all this riding throughout the year and this is how we determine the Top 5's that we do yearly! - Standouts of the Day were the whitespace ( only volume shifted of the bunch) ,the Banked Country ( no suprise ) and the Kazu ( multiple riders chose that day of)
@@tributeboardshop may i ask how they are compared to the burton reflex? Im on the reflex right now with my bsod/megadeath, just tired of swapping bindings all the time.
@@Spyroisawesome1 They are great. Very similar in most ways. They "feel like unions". The gas-pedal/boot board/ disc-cover , or what ever you'd like to call it what feels like a union binding under foot on the SO atlas when compared to the Burtons. The union highback don't quite have the same amount of Fwd lean as the burton genisis can attain , but their are easy soultions to remedy that if you feel you need more. ( Dave Downing and I swaped full set-ups back and forth a few times the other week....He really liked to unions, had no negative feedback at all about them ).
@markfawcett9654 I always figured it came from surfing particularly because of the lineage of the burton fish and fish style surf boards. I don’t remember them calling the Burton Fish “volume-shifted” but that’s the first of that style that I can remember. Do you remember any shorter powder boards that pre-date the fish?
Hey! I weight about 165lbs, 5’10”. I typically ride around a 157 board but decided to go for the 160 this year on the kazu as my big mtn, big line, big pow board. Have been riding it on resort as well and loving it
@@markmorrison7342 Thanks for replying! I am actually around the same height/weight. This might have just validated upsizing for the kazu. Cheers and keep up the content you guys are killing it!
I might have to look into White Grizzly. I went out with Judson with Kootenay Backcountry Guides years ago and had an awesome time.
Their Zone is Amazing!
So good to the crew out for the first trip of the year! We love the video
WOW!! that Fuse 3L jacket pops so hard.

Yeah that intro song just stokes! Also the outro you have a buzzing sound that reminds me of AC TIG Welding. Just curious what it is?!?!
Yes!! This is what I want to watch!!! I love watching guys my age!! It’s not offensive if we’re all getting old 😂.
I love that Kazu 161W!
me too !!!!
Brilliant! 👍
Spotted a Weston!
Prototype Atlas Step ons?
I thought Mark misspoke at first, but it looks like Union has partnered with Burton for a step-on version of the Atlas for 2025. Could be cool.
Not so much of a partnership, but Burton has opened the design use to any binding company! Union step-ons coming in HOT

We didn't get the MD out that day but can say it RIPS in Powder !
Great video but no reviews of the boards? How did they do in pow?
He does at the end. It’s hard to compare boards in pow because ultimately it comes down to surface area and shape/trim.

Commenting once again that "volume shifted" should be "area shifted"
I'm glad I'm not the only one that is bothered by this.
I completely agree !!! I think it has come from surfing. I didn' t make up the term, but somewhat necessary to follow it.....for now.
