Such a powerful brilliant film! As a married man with 3 kids who was closeted almost my entire life, I felt every ounce of Nathan's desire, anguish, guilt, torment, fear, anxiety and pain. I'm just now beginning to peel away the layers I created for so many years to find the true and authentic man I was born to be.

So was I, Mike, for 17 years.... YOU aren't living unless you are being true to yourself. When I was 40, met a wonderful college freshman.... we just clicked. He was 18. Very hard at first, but after 32 years now all is wonderful. Actually the kids could tell I was so much happier, and adapted very well. We have a very close family, and now have grandkids. Life is good when one is themselves...... It is worth the hardness at first. And, by being honest, the ex has a chance at a "real" love. Great short!

That moment when he was sitting in the swing watching the guy leave with his wife and children....I totally get that.....the look in his eyes...the thoughts that would be going thru his head. And then at the end where the married guy broke down in tears...I know several married men like that. And I would react the same way as Alex did...and hug them knowing their struggle with in.

I was married for 44 years to a wonderful woman. I told her I am gay 15 years ago, but never left her and never took a gay lover. She passed away last November. Before she passed away, she told me to be my authentic self. Last month, I did something I thought I would never do. I added my profie to an online dating service for gay men. I connected with a guy and have had a wonderful online relationship with the hope that we will be together soon. It feels really good to be open about my identity. I just want to remind everyone that souls do not have genders. My wife and I were true soul mates in every sense of the term. Please be careful with the hearts of the ones you love.

My best friend, the best friend I ever had, was married with two young sons. I never knew he was a gay man until after his suicide. After he died, I pieced together all the times we spent together and with the help of a therapist, realized that he had fallen in love with me. I was passionately in love with him as well, but it was a love we never consummated. This short but intense film showed me what might have been. Nathan and Alex were Tom and I, and even though it has been more than thirty years since Tom's death, and while I no longer mourn and grieve his passing, he still lives on in a romantic chamber of my heart; in the nostalgic country of my mind. Thank you so much for this film. I will always treasure it.

whomever says time will heal may never know the true emotions and trauma that lost love left behind...the time 30 yrs ago was not accepting hence we had to live in the "closet" and use code words like "friends of Dorothy".. albeit LGBTQ has come some ways but still discriminations are rampant even in high schools...many chose to hide their true selves by marrying because it was expected but never truly live a happy life because hiding has tremendous consequences...whether breakup after the light of love diminished or when one partner exited earlier - those left behind just have to heal and preserve the memories of happier times...this is why memories will always be preserved even as the souls evolved.

Fascinating, and well done indeed. To direct and star is no easy deal, never mind to do both so well. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be in a hetero relationship while being gay, and this film really hit that on the nose with succinct efficiency and emotional impact. Gay my entire life, a true Kinsey 6, this short reveals a world I've never experienced but to which I can relate. Relationships are tough even under the best circumstances. So glad they hugged at the end even through the tears.

My cousin married a woman and had three children with her. He wasn’t being true to himself. He became an alcoholic. She didn’t know he was gay. She and her teen-aged children were shocked and angry when he finally left her. He finally had a partner and then he became sick and passed…all too soon. His children never forgave him. Such a sad, sad situation.

I was seeing a woman for two years. She started hinting at marriage. I started getting angry at her for no reason, and we argued a lot over stupid stuff. I broke it off with her, because I realized my behaviour towards her was unfair. After the break up, I really did some soul searching, and came out to myself. ( not as easy as it sounds).
About 9 months later, I called her for coffee. It was then that I apologized for my behaviour and told her why. I loved her, but I couldn’t love her the way she deserved to be loved. She told me that it was okay, she had bounced back and was dating someone. I was happy for her,and even met the guy that she was dating. We kept in touch and soon they got married, then two years after that they moved out of the city. We lost touch overtime, but every so often, I think of her, and hope she is enjoying life.
      Stay safe,stay sane, stay strong

    In a word... "POIGNANT."
If park bathrooms, back allies, and secret meeting places of the Love Torn could talk, this is a story that they'd confess over and over again. So many souls suffer the same unrequited love, not for lack of true desire, but for lack of acceptance of self.
Oh, the pain we put ourselves and others through by denying our genuine feelings. I hoped that time would heal this wound, and although we have hoards of young people claiming/identifying as "Gay" or whatever, many seem to be doing it as a social trend and not so much out of the deep emotions some have endured for lifetimes.

BUT Anyways, I've seen this thru life, so many men went the hetero/marriage route to cover their inner secret, it's Tough and sadly, often doesn't end well, especially if kids involved. I have had a very experiences with 'married guys', though I never crossed the line, never wanted to break up anyone, gay or str8, yet it was them that did, 1 especially ended extremely BAD, HE Freaked at his own coming desires, I didn't entertain it, again, so not to cause a break up or end bad, it ended BADLY Anyways, it gutted me for years, what he tried to pull after..
