I picked up my VH4s 15+ years ago after going through virtually averything in Beyer's Music's impressive amp room and it has proven to be the best gear investment I've ever made. To this day the VH4s is STILL the best amp I've ever tried and it brings me joy every single time I turn it on. 10 or so years ago, I did the pilgrimage from Denmark to Bavaria for a check-up and tube change performed by Peter personally. It is such an rare experience, when both product, service and the man behind the company earn a solid 10/10... but the VH4, Diezel and Peter himself truly does... and then some! I can't see myself EVER needing another amp, but if I do, it'll be a Diezel!
Picked up a VH4 pedal on the weekend and ran it through the power amp of my Two-Rock Studio 22, into a Two-Rock 1x12. Without a doubt the best distortion I've ever heard, it was intensely amazing.
Just bought the 2 channel (US) pedal, and with a little tweaking, you'd be hard pressed to tell the differences between it and the head in a mix... Of course you can tell a bit while soloed, but for record-making (what I do), damn, it's ...close-a-god-damned-nuff! \m/
Watching this video because I’m about to buy a VH4 pedal to run through my Two-Rock Studio Signature and 2x12 vertical cab! Excited to hear the results
Imagine how the real deal would sound, but then again most people probably can't pay for the retubing bills of a 100 watt amp, using the money to buy boutique tubescreamer clones instead. 😂
"Hi, I'm Peter and this is my friend Peter. The cameraman's name is Peter too". Love your amps guys, thanks a lot for all that you do! Rock On!! Long Live Heavy Metal!!!
Congratulations Peter, this amp is a swiss knife built in german quality for an american vibe. I remember when I sent you an e-mail in septembre 2014 to order the VH4-S (stereo) loaded in 6L6 power tubes. You said : "Like KT77 much better, but customer is king". I still play this amp and will never regret the 6L6's choice : these tubes give the best modern crystal and warm clean tone I ever heard with the channel 1. The channel 2 sounds fat for the crunch, really better than EL34. And the channel 3 is a master piece for modern rhythmic guitar with a vintage flavor. You managed to put the magic inside. In this video you are talking about your influences and, yeah, it's so true : the VH4 is at the crossroad of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Paul Gilbert, but became a thrash metal weapon of massive destruction with Tool and Metallica. Because the VH4 is the most versatile amp on the market.About the channel 4, what you said in this video is the key : this channel is made for single notes. Sorry, but for the lead tone, the fat and muddy high gain, I have never found better than my old Dual Rectifier Solo Head 2 channels revision G made in the 90's. The parallel FX loop of the Rev G Dual Recto is great for analog delays as the Boss DM2. The mix and the send knobs of the loop works like a master volume. No need a powerbreak here. Its so good that I play 4 heads like that to get a wet/dry/wet system for soloing. In fact, the channel 4 of the VH4 is really good to play with the Rectifier tone. Because the VH4 gives articulation to the sound. You can hear clearly all the notes and it is easier to shred with this channel 4. And it is really better than the "new" sound of the 3 channels Rectifier multi watts in production at the moment. But it's another story.Well, back to the VH4 : to me, the real power of your flagship comes from the FX loops. One insert per channel, each one available or not by midi switching. Crasy! So what we have here ? 4 inserts and 1 stereo loop, serial and parallel ! For live applications, there is nothing better than the VH4. Yeeeeeeeha! Many thanks to Peter "Santa Claus" Diezel. My Boss DM2 Waza Craft (shred delay), my Way Huge Echo Puss (short delay) and my Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail (long delay) need a parallel loop to mix them with the high gain without loosing dynamic. But my JHS Panther Cub, my Jam Llama+ and my Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man need a serial loop. With the VH4, I can play them in the same amp. And my Eventide Time Factor is happy too, especially the ping pong mode in stereo. Crasy I said! The only other amp I know with such a good loop is the wonderful Bogner Ecstasy. I play a 20th anniversary 101A custom shop to get a kind of hot-roded vintage Marshall tone. But it's really expensive for us in Europe (I'm a French bastard). The VH4, the 90's Dual Rectifier and the Ecstasy are the 3 best tube heads ever built. It's impossible to choose, you must play the 3 amps. They are additional. I played many other amps, I'm not talking about combos here (Matchless amps rule in this territory). Some of them are really goods (the Soldano SLO is great for exemple), some of them are not. But they can't reach the high end level of a Diezel VH4 silverface, a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier revision G and a Bogner Ecstasy 20th anniversary together. I'm talking about the tone of heavy rock. This is just the summit. Long live the VH4! Tschuss.
Very nice to see a seasoned player show off some Classic Rock licks on ch 2 & 3. Its beautiful hearin Adam and Het play it but the Ac/Dc riffs on an LP just sound PERFECT! I feel its the sweet spot. Thank you both for bein so cool when I’ve popped by at NAMM years back. Truly humble guys.
@@burt2800 I sold my 3CH dual rectifier once I received my VH2. There is no comparison and running through an OH mesa boogie 4 x 12 V30 cab IR it sounds absolute monster even at quiet volumes. I've never played a VH4 but the VH2 channel sounds identical to CH3 on the VH4 and you can get some pretty close Adam Jones tones. I run mine together with a JCM 800 with a micro amp boost, marshall greenbacks cab using the ox box and I get a really nice crisp but super punchy sound. Definitely blends well with a Marshall but on it's own it's awesome. Channel 1 on the VH2 is really nice as well. Very crisp and lovely with single coils. Both channels clean up nicely when you roll back the guitar volume which I do a lot
No worries :) the cleans are really nice. Very crisp and if you roll back the depth you’ve got some nice versatility. And yes it takes pedals well. I run a micro amp in front of the clean channel to give it a bit more grit if I’m using a single coil guitar but that’s just cos I’m not really a clean player. If you use a humbucker guitar in front and with full gain on CH1 it will give you more than enough gain for a decent rock sound
My 96 Blueface 96030 is my no 1 go to studio amp. I use it for everything......I use Channels 1 and 2 mostly.....always with a Klon Zentaur on Clean Boost and a 1176 after the guitar
I love this amplifier, it is very powerful, rich and dense, it is a pity that it is very expensive in Russia and you only have to listen to it on the Internet.
I have no experience with Diezels. I have taken a break from guitar after 20+ years and looking for something to get back into recording my riffs/songs. I've always been a fan of suuuper straight up simple amps like Cornford, Divided by 13 or old school Marshalls. While I love how those sound in the room, recording them have been always very tough for me in higher gain hard rock territory. It's doable but takes so much mic position fiddling. Mainly cause of their non saturated / non compressed nature ( I think ). Mesas on the other hand have been album like quality sound while recording them with the quickest & dirtiest setups although I don't necessarily prefer their sound in the room. But they sound great on recording! SO... I guess question to VH4 owners is, do you think this amp would do the trick for me? Marshall based sound with more clarity and bottom end. A little more compressed sounding while keeping definition. Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

This is an Amp with much power, however a very high price. Off course it is handmade, so I do not want to complain. I play currently a BluGuitar Amp1 and a H&K Black Spirit 200 Combo Amp. So it would be great to compare these Amps to your fantastic Diezel Amp, or is there so much difference?
Uwe Tittmann theres no comparison. Diezel amps develop a pressure even at very low levels with gigantic dynamics that make most sub 2k Amps sound like cheap chinamade toys...think of your sound just becoming bigger, cutting through everything, little to no noise even on high gain...
I would love to be able to afford any Diezel amp, but because of this affordability issue I have I've switched over completely from tube to less expensive solid state amps. I still do love my old Marshall and Fender tube amps and bring them out to gig on occasion, but my Quilter Tone Block 202 can get any tone I need with all the same feel, response and harmonic content of vintage or modern tube amps effortlessly which is quite incredible for a Solid state amp! I fully recommend Quilter amps as the only viable alternative to a tube amp!

I think these amps sound fantastic when you play really high gain metal , but , I have to say, for Classic Rock, my Orange Dual Terrror sounds a million times better than a VH4 or an Engl / Mesa Rectifier / SLO type cascading preamp sound. I don’t think it’s possible to do both due to the preamp architecture. That’s why you have amps like the Friedman buxom betty and the dual terror.
Absolutely the worst amp in a live band mix I have ever owned. Truly heartbreaking after spending 4K on this amp. Doesn’t matter how you dial it. I tried removing damn near all the bass, low end and most of the gain, cranking up the treble and mids in a desperate effort to be heard and balanced in the mix proved futile. It only had to keep pace with a peavey 5150 owned by the other guitarist in our band at the time but couldn’t come close. I’m truly shocked and beside myself that anyone endorses this amp. Truly the strangest experience with any amp I’ve ever owned in 40+ years.
Really? I always have to turn my down because its all anyone can hear. Try Ruby el34bht tubes with v30s. Makes it very upper mid heavy like a marshall. A high output ceramic pickup like a sh6 works amazing also. Very sensative amps to everything in my experience. I can get any kind of sound know to man buy switching things up. A dod fx40b eq works great with these also.

One day I'll have one of these incredible beasts, I made a promise to myself.
I love the smile on Peter Diezel face with the high gain up. Just ordered my first Diezel amp and looking forward to it!

How can it work on 3 watts?
Bar Guitar I think he simply means that the volume, and therefore the power output, is quite low.
The Master volume is basically your wattage level. When the master volume is barely up, its around 3 watts.

A high output ceramic pickup like a sh6 works amazing also. Very sensative amps to everything in my experience. I can get any kind of sound know to man buy switching things up. A dod fx40b eq works great with these also.
I don’t understand how you could ever have this issue with a vh4.
this sux..
Very entertaining & educating on the side.
So proud to own a VH4 since 5 years (remember the Purple Monster?)
