This pizza literally looks like the pizza from the Goofy movie. The way the cheese slips off the slice like water is cartoonish I know he rated it lower than the other but man that pizza looks so good. Its so thin!

I'm a regular here. It's phenomenal; he went way too low on this one.
1:30 a.m. after a night of drinking, BAR is a 10 in my book. Somehow he ended up with a humane sized slice. Late night BAR slices are like tectonic plates. They are so big that you can flip the tip of slice back onto itself and then fold the slice in half.
Again, having late night slices at BAR after a night on the town is like an oxygen mask.

I still love Modern. I get a small because I like a thin, crispy pie. Plenty of NEBCo on tap there usually.
Still like Pepe's smalls too. I'm not a clam guy though.
If you want to got outside the NH style, try OTTO in Chester. Get a beer at the Little House brewery while you are out there.

I'm in my mid sixties, a CT native and have been eating Wooster St. Pies for my entire life. Bar is not in the same stratosphere as Wooster St. pizza. Give me a break, troll.

Grew up in New Haven and still live in East Rock. BAR is okay but will never be held in the same regard as the Three Kings (Pepe's, Sally's and Modern). BAR is more of a place "to be seen". It's where the clubs and Yale crowd is but you can never consider it "OG New Haven Pizza"
Do yourself a favor and drive up to Meriden for Little Rendezvous pizza. That oven was brought over from Italy. The flavor it imparts is amazing.

New haven style pizza is always coal fired. BAR is good but not really New Haven style. Traditional New Haven style pizza is the big three of Sally’s, Pepe’s, and Modern.

You guys have to review Domenick's & Vinny's Pizza in Middlebury, CT. They aren't open Monday & Tuesdays. I feel their pizza is one if not the best in CT, however it has a very unique flavor, crust is spectacular, it doesn't flop at all but is phenomenal
Domenick & Pia in Waterbury is legendary.

@@cthulhurising666 I grew up with Domenic's too. But it isn't consistent in Waterbury unfortunately today like it once was while Roland & Guido made their name with their pie!! Middlebury is consistently the same as I remember it being from Wolcott Rd way back in the 70's, only difference was back then they used sliced mozzarella instead of shredded mozz that they use today. They cut & weigh the dough the same way, they use identical sauce, same amount of sauce is important too, and use the same ovens, temps, etc. Their pie rocks when done right.
@@advanced-electronic Thanks for the reply! I don't get up to the Dirty Water much these days, but I'll have to make a trip to the Middlebury location soon! As an aside, I also love Domenic & Pia's, although it is a completely different pie. Hopefully everything is still as I remember it there!

*** BAR is number one if you get drunk (great microbrew beer) and then go to Louis' Lunch after for a burger. Then get stoned and onto Mamoun's for falafel and Potato and Lentil soup. And the finish the night with sake bombs at Miya’s till they close at 4am.

Solid Alternates are Da Legna and Colony Grill down there. Nice variety of abeets in CT, NY, NJ. That’s about it America. Sorry. The rest of our pizza usually sucks.

"Some New Haven flop ....Modern." LMAO Not even the right place. BAR is great though - Been going there since the mid 90's when they first built the brick oven - biggest one I've ever seen and the pizza is right up there with the Big "3." Night life and dance club was the place to be back in the 90's - Saturday night and Wed night. Legendary spot!

It was always known you go to BAR for drinks and the live bands in the back - then get a pizza. Everything tastes better after that combination. It’s not the place to go sober and get a pizza unless they are making something special for a show.
Still, it’s fucking great compared to most spots out of New Haven & select NYC locations.
Sally’s is definitely the best. Then I’d say Zuppardi’s (2 exits down in West Haven) because their sausage is legit and it’s legit.
Pepe’s is so commercial now and hit or miss so I’d say 3rd.
Modern has burnt sauce half of the time.
