This video demonstrates my complete procedure for Live Stacking with ZWO ASIAIR Plus. I selected the Orion Nebula (M42) and the Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) for imaging in the same night with 2 Hours each.
This is the imaging setup I used was:
Telescope: William Optics GT71
Main Camera: ZWO ASI533MC Pro
Filter: Optolong L-eXtreme
Guide Scope: William Optics Slide Base 50mm
Guide Camera: ZWO ASI120MM Mini
Mount: Celestron Advance VX
Control: ZWO ASIAir Plus
I used 10 Dark, 20 Flat and 50 Bias frames for Live Stacking. No post-processing was done. The final images show only cosmetic enhamcements in Photoshop.
I hope that you enjoy this video. Please let me know in comments if I missed anything. If you like this video, please leave a Like and consider Subscribing to my channel.

Hi and perfect. That’s what i needed to know. Thanks for your video - Helped
You are very welcome. Cheers!!
Beautiful images 👍🏼👍🏼.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nicely done. I really enjoy your channel. I'm brand new to astrophotography and have the ASIAIR Plus and the ASI533MC Pro also. My scope is the SV Bony SV503 80mm ED. Trying to get everything together and get going. Will be trying the Live Stacking also. Thanks. Keep them coming!!!
Thanks Rodger! Appreciate your kind support. SVBony EDs are good beginner scopes. I'm sure you will enjoy live stacking with your setup. CS!
Wow the rosette image loooooks amazing 🔥🔥
Thanks, Raj!
This is a cool feature I have to try sometimes!
Thanks! Live stacking is really good to get immediate results when you have very short imaging time. Good not only for yourself but for the entire family to watch and appreciate what's up in the night sky. CS!
Beautiful Captures!!
Thank you very much! CS!
Woww, vary cool images. Thank you Pawan, that really cheered me up on a cold wet tuesday. CS tomorrow lol.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching. Cheers!!
Great shots!
Thank you, Luke! CS!
Nice video, Thank You. 2 questions; 1. I noticed when you set up images, you took flats, bias, and dark frames before and used the masters. How do you create the masters? 2. Even though the ASI air stacked your images if you wanted to, could you take the individual fit files and stack them and PixInsight if you wanted to?
Thanks! Asiair also saves individual calibration frames as fits files in its memory. This is in addition to the master stacked frame that you can use immediately for Live Stacking. Hope this helps. Cheers!!
When the heaven will split,it will appear like rose painted red .(55.37) mashallah
Thanks for watching!
Hi and thanks. What about the Master Bias, Darks, and Flats as you licked the Lights? You shot those before, does it save Masters too?
Yes. Both masters as well as individual fits files are saved on ASIAIR. You can use masters immediately and then copy and use individual FITS files on your computer if you want to use a different stacking software. Cheers!!
I noticed at the end you stated no guiding used yet you shot 2 minute exposures. Is two minutes about the limit for none guided exposures? You set tracking to Sidereal in the Mount tracking section to take these images? Looking at the final image for each do you feel you would've gotten just a good of image with 1 hour for each target?
Have you noticed on your AVX mount the ASIAir mount direction controls don't stop a slew after you lift your finger off the direction icon on your phone/tablet. It doesn't happen every time but probably 50% of the time. I'm using V2.1.1 10.74. The mount will continue slewing another 5 seconds or so after you lift your finger. Seems to occur more on DEC than RA.
Also the Home position for the mount in ASIAir doesn't go back to the index marks. The DEC seems OK but RA is off about an inch.. I've also notice setting the hand control Home to the index marks at the beginning of the session and trying to use it later to go Home doesn't return to the index marks. ASIAir must change the home position.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your detailed comments. Here are my short answers:
1. Guiding is ok up to 2 minutes of exposure time provided you have a wide field scope such 60mm or 70mm. Scopes with larger aperture need more accurate guiding with any exposure over 30sec or 60sec.
2. No. I didn’t notice the mount going extra steps after I stop clicking the buttons on handset.
3. When you use Home Position on ASIAIR, it may be slightly different that the Home Position with handset. This is normal after you have done the polar alignment.
Hope this information helps. Clear Skies!!!
The next time you set up your AVX mount with ASIAir attached play around with the mount controls at level 9. It seems to work but on long slews is where I see it not stop. Are you using IOS or Android? Thanks.
Will do. I use IOS. Thanks.
