YES!!! You guys did it!! We were so excited to see this video drop tonight! I'm glad that despite the difficulty of getting back into the game, that you still enjoy it 😁 we haven't gotten this to table in a while and hearing your thoughts makes me want to play immediately!! 🎉 can't wait for fractures of time!
First time I'm enjoying a Playthrough of Anachrony, a well edited and dedicated one! Thanks for cut some maintenance moments, cos the gameplay feels nicer and lighter to follow! Love you guys!
I’ve never played this but you did a FANTASTIC job with this playthrough. The teach was very well done and I understood everything you two did. Never felt lost. Can’t wait for the next one!!
@@damaddestgamer I’m a sci fi guy so I guess it clicks lol. It’s all time travel. You want resources you can get them from the future. But in a future round you have to be able to pay them back. If you don’t pay them back,. Then that’s a time paradox because taht can’t happen.. You have different kinds of workers. An engineer who builds stuff, a scientist who creates breakthroughs in technology, and a business person who recruits more workers. The world is falling apart and you need the mech suits to go into the world but in your home base you don’t need that. They get exhausted when they work and giving them water unexausted them. Etc Everything just makes total sense to me lol
Hello! Actually, I described most of my impressions of Anachrony in your previous video (Organizing the Anachrony: Infinity Box). This is definitely my number 1 game, and my wife and I love it! I greatly enjoyed watching your gameplay, and I'm looking forward to the next one with the Fractures of Time expansion (my favorite expansion). I'd also really like to see you play with the Doomsday module, because I like the idea of the "tug-of-war" and deciding whether the asteroid strikes earlier or later. So far, I haven't found any gameplay with that module on the internet. And just for clarification regarding free actions: it's not the case that a player can only take one free action on their turn. You can do as many free actions on your turn as you'd like in addition to your normal worker action.
Anachrony was one of the first board games I ever bought, completely on a whim because it was 50% off and just looked bananas. I later backed the Infinity Box (and every other Mindclash game since). Really excited to see you play Fractures!
One of my all-time favourite games. And the best worker placement / tableau builder game out there for my taste. Keen to hear your thoughts on Fracture of time / Future imperfect
I’ve heard of this game but never had interest. After seeing a playthrough I think I might be willing to try it out. Great job. We’re always rooting for you Naveen!!!!
Thank you guys so much for playing this on your channel! I have issues getting invested in worker placement games but this theme got me so hooked, I truly enjoyed this playthrough 😊
There was a point where I thought Naveen was going back in time just to hate-draft the Rescue Pods. I don't know if you had the resources to do that, but that seemed like a vital tech to keep away from Monique! "Goldar" and "Get out of town!"/"I'm staying" got laughs from me. Thanks for the playthrough!
You two manage to make some of the heaviest games feel approachable! I learned Apiary from you and played over this last weekend. Anachrony is setup to learn next. ...again thanks to the two of you!
Thanks to you, I finally wrapped my head around all these confusing rules. I'm trying to design a game myself and Anachrony will be a huge inspiration for me. Thank you!
@@BeforeYouPlay I recently played with most of them, expect of Fractures Of Time stuff and Doomsday. Of course, in many configurations, not everything at once. I highly recommend you micro-modules, like Starting Resource Drafting and Alternate timeline. They add a lot of fun and deepen the game with minimal rule overhead. I love Pioneers and Guardians, but I mostly play them with new players to show them that it's a modular game. It also helps new players in 4 player games, as it gives essentially new spots in this tight set up! I love Quantum Loops. Minimal rule overhead. Great as a middle-sized module, you can fast mix and match it with others. I'm positively surprised with 2 players Intrigues of the Council. It worked, because there was more to it, missions really work great with this game. But with 2 players, it's easy to steamroll it sometimes. I'm really looking forward to seeing it at play with 3 or 4 players, so that's probably an idea for video with your friend.
Yeah totally agree! Now that we've played it several times in a short period of time, I feel confident that 6-8 months from now we would be able to pull it off the shelf and be ready to go.
I've been playing it nonstop (on BGA) for the past few weeks! Really enjoyably curnchy game. I can't wait to dive into the expansions that i recently bought! Ill probably wait for you follow-up video before doing that.
I think you read my mind. For some reason I was looking into this game lately. Just all the stuff and the modules can make it seem a bit unapproachable. I'm comfortable with heavy games, so it makes me curious. It's just an investment in time to decide if worth it.
Oh geez. I feel your pain Monique. On our couple plays of this game my wife has had the same problem where she is always like one something short of what she needs to do her plan and it kills her and makes me feel horrible. I think the having to pick your suits in the beginning and kind of plan out your entire turn can become mental gymnastics. Great playthrough
Im about halfway through the playthrough. I love this game. I noticed, however, 2 things regarding the power up phase. 1) While you can do it simultaneously the rule is that suits are powered up in turn order. 2) More importantly. Unless i missed it You guys were not taking water for each hex you left empty after powering up.
So this comment is just for understanding the thematics of the evacuation action at the end of the game. It's not that you are evacuating. Throughout the game you have been building up your Path and trying to be the best path to survive the impact. When the capital is hit after round 4, there are people there that need evacuating and the better your Path is when you send your worker, the more people (VP) you'll get to bring back home. If you are last, you get the -3 points, which is like you got there late and there are 3 less people for you.
I love playing this game at higher player count for the reason you mentioned it is a tighter game which makes decision making and timing even more important and I don't remember it taking that long either it scales really well in my opinion (I have not tried any variables/expansions for this game)
So glad you finally tabled this. Thanks, this was a great play through and teach. I do love this game and haven't played ( mulitplayer ) with the expansion yet as I had to teach others how to play the base game first... but soon. I am currently getting Perseverance 1&2 to the table. Thanks. I should be receiving Voidfall and Septima Soon also. Yes, I am a big MCG fan. While the minis don't really add to the game play, I feel they are a must for the immersive experience.
As soon as the days get shorter! 😆 Since it’s mainly just my wife and I playing, I was glad to hear you enjoy it at 2P and that it looks more intimidating than it is (still getting my wife used to heavier games).
lmao Naveen getting feisty when he got that 2 anomalies roll. "I hope you waste your exo suit." "Are you sure you don't want the tile that kills your workers?"
Love this game. I consider the addition of Fractures of Time to be the true baseline for this game once you are familiar with the base game. I now also always include the Hypersync Future Actions module and the two tiny modules with just extra buildings.
Oh I can't wait until I see you playing Anachrony with other modules. It is such a good game. Monique please also consider to try it solo with automa with other modules turned on. This mode would be awesome too.
I love to see it and can't wait to see fractures. Anachrony is a great game but fractures is what really makes it into something insane. As someone who has played this game a lot, I borrow much more aggressively during the warp phase, I place 2 warp tiles on most turns. Not only does it give you more opportunities to time travel for points and the apparent benefit of having resources earlier, but I'll regularly warp in something with the specific intention to take an anomaly and pick up the warp tile without paying for it. This is a great way to get harder to get resources like a power core (by warping a mech) or neutronium, or specific resource or worker types for an evacuation condition. The anomalies themselves tend not to be a concern as I usually find myself with a surplus of resources and workers at the end of the game with minimal avenues to convert them to victory points once the capital spaces are collapsed and full. So removing 2 or even 3 anomalies tends to be very achievable in the last round.
Thanks for the teach and playthrough. I might try this out on BGA. Also, I love Saga! And that slide puzzle example was a good comparison for being kind of stuck not quite being able to do any of the actions you want.
What an exciting and nailbiting playthrough with the usual excellent high quality videos you produce. It came through that you enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to the Fractures of Time playthrough... and possibly other Mindclash Games? :)
You don't need to reveal simultaneously how many exosuits you are powering. The rulebook says to do it in clockwise order, starting with the first player. So you can choose how many you're powering up based on what earlier players have done.
I love this game so much... I have deluxified everything like acryllic workers, lots of printed tokens, fully painted, etc. The solo with the expansion is wonderful and how I usually play. I just have such a hard time getting it to the table because it takes up sooooo much space... A 4x6 table plus some TV trays... and needs a half hour to set up. That said, I have over 60 solo plays and 40 2-player
Thanks for this! Agree completely with your review, it's a top 10 game for me, but just to add a few thoughts. Player count - it can be very fun at 4, if all players of roughly equal level and spirit to engage. Potential for good table talk about who is taking what; decision to evacuate becomes more important. At 4, the Guardians expansion loosens up the board and interesting decision about who will go for that strategy. Also, the factions can be used for handicapping (I believe). In my view, the "blue" and "green" factions are slightly easier so good for players needing more resources. I find the "red" faction to be difficult (so good job winning with them, Monique!). The solo mode is also fun - running the solo bot is a minigame in itself.
I think Monique got an extra 3 points because she got an extra neutronium from the trade action w/ the admin, but that doesn't let you take two trade actions, it just lets you trade with one more degree of separation.
Anachrony for me is an evergreen game - I mostly play it on BGA but with all the modules and expansions I can see this being played well into retirement. Altough Voidfall is competing for shelfspace and gametime...so good that I have passed on Perseverance and Trickerion. Just got Cerebria - dammit Mindclash stop making so many great games!
Great game, and agree it is not as hard to play once you know what you can do and where and how to do it. The catch it borrowing from yourself, and to be great at this game you need to do it.
Out of the two MC games I’ve played (Anachrony and Trickerion), I prefer Trickerion but still enjoyed Anachrony. Which one of the two do you rate higher?
This is a great game. I’ll be interested to see your play with expansions, because it always feels to me that there’s enough going on in the game to not need anything else added. By the way, this playthrough was like a view into our house. My wife spends the whole time saying how badly she’s doing then wins at the end. 😂
You could just get Essential, miniatures, Classic Expansion (for Pioneers of New Earth) and Fractures of Time. As a owner of the Infinity Box, that right there gives a lot of variability and those two expansions are sooo good.
When you take the Trader action and use the Administrator you don’t take the action twice. It just Allows you to take go further around the track in one action.
That’s not completely true. The rules says that you can choose 2 trade actions one after the other. Which means you can do 2 one step trade actions or you can go 2 steps on the trade graph. Either is correct.
This one is a crunch one, so we figured we'd make an exception. I (Naveen) am notorious for forgetting to pay for things in games... and i still lose lol 80% of the time! 😂
@@BeforeYouPlay not yet, I'm usually the purchaser of the group but a return to school has left me short of time (and $) to keep up with the collection. ;( I miss my nerdery!
I played it once and I found this game quite simple to play. Monique is probably right thou I did quite well I think for my first game. I ended up with 56 VP while my friends were in the 30s.
I found very dumb that Mind clash games, don´t sell their infinite box as a all in one, or the Trickerion, like, why make it exclusive of your KS? If people want to get everything at once, why no put the option there to do it?
I do really like this game. It was a bit to learn, but once you do, it's pretty simple. I've played it maybe 20 times, and won every game but two - so I'm not bad. The last few times I played, I've kinda realized that the game feels a little too "on rails" for me. With a game this big, I want there to be more viable strategies than there are in base game, despite all the asymmetry and setup options. Also, I wish the value of the different action areas were more balanced. Construct is so dominant. Must be time to bust out some of the expansion content. Super bummed I missed out on the Voidfall campaign btw 😥
Hm. I hate to be ruleshark but I'm not sure that this at 1:57:10 was legal move. How far back you can go is counted from current time, but you can remove Warp tile only if you change your focus: *Page 13* of rules: "When the Power Plant is activated, the player may move his Focus marker onto any past Timeline tile no further in the past than the Power Plant’s range (measured from the current Era tile). Immediately after placing the Focus marker, the player can also send assets back through the Time Rift". and *Page 15* of rules: "The only time when you can remove a Warp tile from a past Timeline tile by returning the respective Resource is the moment you shift Focus to that tile". Also, when powering up your Exosuits you don't hide the number, but go in player order (Page 8 of rules: "In a clockwise order starting with the First Player, each player...").
Hi there. Not sure which version of the rulebook you have our "Power Plant" section is on Page 16. Ours reads: "Move your Focus marker onto any past Timeline tile no further to the left than the Power Plant’s range (measured from the current Era’s Timeline tile, Ranges are not cumulative). You may also choose to leave your Focus marker on the same past Timeline as long as it is in range of the Power Plant used. You may never end up with your Focus marker in the current Era after using a Power Plant." So Monique's action to return her resource was legal as she is allowed to stay on the same tile as it's still in range of the current Era Timeline tile. In regards to the Exosuits Power Up Phase, we elected to use the Note: "To speed up the game, players can agree to power up their Exosuits simultaneously instead of turn order" - Pg 9 of our rulebook. We knew the recording session was going to be long so we agreed to play this way so we wouldn't add more AP time. Hope that all made sense, let us know if you have any other questions or catch anything else!
I really, really love this game. Pioneers of the New Earth (the adventuring module) is an amazing module that adds a lot of options and a completely different path to focus on (focus on going a lot of adventures vs evacuation for example), also makes Research more valuable. If you like the game really, really try to get this module! For me Fractures makes the game so much more complex that, while I see the beauty of the strategic depth, I didn’t find it that enjoyable. Granted, I played it only 2 times, need to give it more chance. Feels like another game, you will see! It’s an amazing game, with so much replayability especially if you add all the modules, and somehow they managed to keep it balanced!!
I used to own the big box. But it was just too big of a game. I didn't like half the expansion modules. It takes up a huge space. Ultimately it's a very good game. But I played it 10 times and I didn't care if I played it again. 10 plays was enough. It's a pretty normal worker placement game where you have a big contract to aim for at the end of the game. As you go through the game you collect resources then spent then to gain exclusive worker placement spots. It is a huge price tag and size for a solid game. But I don't think the game warrants the price tag of the big box. So I sold and haven't felt I'm missing out.
I think this one needs a play IRL - could not follow the theme or what you were doing most of the time (other than getting resources and spending them like most Euros).
The diamond in the Titanic movie was called the “Heart of the Ocean” 🧊🚢🥶😭 Anywho, thank you for this play through!! I have been wanting to try it on BGA 💜

I love me some Mindclash games. Hope you two get around to Cerebria at some point too.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video, seriously thinking about picking up this game as a result.... 😅
Hope you can play it sometime soon! Love your TH-cam name btw lol!
excellent video as usual. thx for doing it
Hello guys, great playthrough and unpredictable ending! I might have missed it but where did you get those bits for the sources?
Out of the two MC games I’ve played (Anachrony and Trickerion), I prefer Trickerion but still enjoyed Anachrony. Which one of the two do you rate higher?
This is a great game. I’ll be interested to see your play with expansions, because it always feels to me that there’s enough going on in the game to not need anything else added.
By the way, this playthrough was like a view into our house. My wife spends the whole time saying how badly she’s doing then wins at the end. 😂
Can't wait to see the Fractures of Time gameplay and tutorial
Hi! Is there any chance for Trickerion + Dalsghaard's Academy? It's so little coverd on YT
We've done a base game video and plan on doing a Dalaghaard's Academy gameplay in the coming weeks/months-ish!
The box is almost as big as your torso XD I wonder when I'd get my hands on the essentials edition
It's MASSIVE!!
You could just get Essential, miniatures, Classic Expansion (for Pioneers of New Earth) and Fractures of Time. As a owner of the Infinity Box, that right there gives a lot of variability and those two expansions are sooo good.
played it once, a brain burner for sure.
YAAAAAS been waiting for a BYP Anachrony playthrough since I first found the game!
I was going to ask who the 3rd player was, who was sitting between the two of you then I realized it was just that's the game box.
when did they add the klingon subtitles again? I thought they go rid of them like over a year ago because it was a lot of work?
This one is a crunch one, so we figured we'd make an exception. I (Naveen) am notorious for forgetting to pay for things in games... and i still lose lol 80% of the time! 😂
Always been on my list of "Must play!"s. Thanks for getting me closer. :)
Just need the time to game...
Do you have it/know someone that owns a copy?
@@BeforeYouPlay not yet, I'm usually the purchaser of the group but a return to school has left me short of time (and $) to keep up with the collection. ;(
I miss my nerdery!
greatest game, past present and future ;)
Like what you did there 👍
I played it once and I found this game quite simple to play. Monique is probably right thou I did quite well I think for my first game. I ended up with 56 VP while my friends were in the 30s.
I freakin' hate time travel books, movies, and TV. I freakin' love this game!!!
You asked how many tiles on average I use to gain things from the future... two almost every time... but always at least 1.
Ahh interesting! Thank you for sharing!
I found very dumb that Mind clash games, don´t sell their infinite box as a all in one, or the Trickerion, like, why make it exclusive of your KS? If people want to get everything at once, why no put the option there to do it?
Were you getting water for unpowered mech spots?
Yes, we missed one round though
One warp tile almost every time. Sometimes zero. 😄
How far back you can go is counted from current time, but you can remove Warp tile only if you change your focus:
*Page 13* of rules: "When the Power Plant is activated, the player may move his Focus marker onto any past Timeline tile no further in the past than the Power Plant’s range (measured from the current Era tile). Immediately after placing the Focus marker, the player can also send assets back through the Time Rift".
and
*Page 15* of rules: "The only time when you can remove a Warp tile from a past Timeline tile by returning the respective Resource is the moment you shift Focus to that tile".
Also, when powering up your Exosuits you don't hide the number, but go in player order (Page 8 of rules: "In a clockwise order starting with the First Player, each player...").
Hi there. Not sure which version of the rulebook you have our "Power Plant" section is on Page 16. Ours reads:
"Move your Focus marker onto any past Timeline tile no further to the left than the Power Plant’s range (measured from the current Era’s Timeline tile, Ranges are not cumulative). You may also choose to leave your Focus marker on the same past Timeline as long as it is in range of the Power Plant used. You may never end up with your Focus marker in the current Era after using a Power Plant."
So Monique's action to return her resource was legal as she is allowed to stay on the same tile as it's still in range of the current Era Timeline tile.
In regards to the Exosuits Power Up Phase, we elected to use the Note:
"To speed up the game, players can agree to power up their Exosuits simultaneously instead of turn order" - Pg 9 of our rulebook. We knew the recording session was going to be long so we agreed to play this way so we wouldn't add more AP time.
Hope that all made sense, let us know if you have any other questions or catch anything else!
good game
Wait till you start using some of the supplements...
I’ve tried again and again to get into this game (seems like the type of game I would really like), but every time I do I just become really bored.
'oH pagh ghopDu'Daj pagh. 'ach
:) there are no klingon subtitles , yet
I used to own the big box. But it was just too big of a game. I didn't like half the expansion modules. It takes up a huge space. Ultimately it's a very good game. But I played it 10 times and I didn't care if I played it again. 10 plays was enough. It's a pretty normal worker placement game where you have a big contract to aim for at the end of the game. As you go through the game you collect resources then spent then to gain exclusive worker placement spots. It is a huge price tag and size for a solid game. But I don't think the game warrants the price tag of the big box. So I sold and haven't felt I'm missing out.
GOLDAR REFERENCE!!!
Beware RODAK!
Path of Salvation has always seemed underpowered compared to the rest
I think this one needs a play IRL - could not follow the theme or what you were doing most of the time (other than getting resources and spending them like most Euros).
The diamond in the Titanic movie was called the “Heart of the Ocean” 🧊🚢🥶😭
Anywho, thank you for this play through!! I have been wanting to try it on BGA 💜
