You are right to some extent, but it doesn't excuse the length and extent of bad performance he puts up. Right now, Red Bull is not a clear favourite anymore, but Perez's troubles started way before, and it isn't just the top contender teams that give him a hard time. He constantly makes huge driver mistakes and drops out before Q3 in quali / compromises his race. On one hand, you're right and Perez being ahead of Verstappen early '23 was an overperformance in a car not best suited to him. I always felt like one of the main weaknesses of Ferrari was trying to cater to both Sainz and Leclerc with complete opposite driving styles. I’m not sure where you get that answer but he’s always stated he needs a stable rear and which is far from a pointy car. He’s driven a pointy car like the McLaren but those cars were way more nimble and completely different beasts right now
@@F1UnchainedBasically Lewis likes a responsive car but it has to have a strong rear end that can keep up with the front due to his aggressive driving style...We see that with his pole lap from Singapore 2018 as well as the way he drove the W10 in 2019 (Strong front end; stable rear end) which often saw him set a purple Sector 3 during qualifyings as the car could live up to the forces being generated by driver inputs throughout a lap
As a McLaren fan I'm actually fearing this duo slightly. Both Hamilton and Leclerc loves a oversteery car than an understeery one so that means Ferrari can push their car development and philosophy in one direction as they now have a driver pairing that shares similar preferences instead of the one they have now with Sainz preferring an understeery setup to Leclerc's oversteery setup.

He’s better in the race then overall qualifying like Leclerc for example who has more poles then wins. Lewis has always been an outstanding race driver and quali but where he is above the rest is in the race
@@F1Unchained I understand what you were saying, I just think that Lewis has been considered stronger in qualifying most of his career. I’ve been watching for 20 years and I remember that even in his rookie season the talk was about his ability to qualify over Alonso’s racecraft. That stayed as his strength through all of his teammates. I fully believe that he is a strong racer too and I believe like all “experienced” racers, you probably lose a little bit in qualifying as you get older and if you are talented like Lewis is you inherently become a stronger racer.
He isn’t saying Lewis didn’t good in qualifying. He’s amazing, but he is stronger in race pace than he is qualifying. Hence why he has so many wins not starting from pole. Vettel on the other hand, amazing qualifier, but never won a race starting outside the top 3
Love the content. I think '25 for LH is once again a "test" year for him ... getting to know the Ferrari car and team. He is not a slouch so he will not be at the back of the pack, but I thing hovering around 5 - 8 place with perhaps an occasional podium. I think '26 is the big year where he will have had input on the car and the fact that GRUNT is going to be favored over ground effect, LH driving style will be best suited. If he does not get his 8th title in '26, his chances in '27 are slim. I think in '28 he will be out on his other projects - acting being the most favored IMO - but he has many other interests and projects. I am more interested in the teeam dynamic that is looming. CLC has "had it his way" since #5 left. Do you really think #44 will play 2nd fiddle ? I am not so convinced and if #44 gets lead, will CLC stick around ?
I believe all of these drivers when they start out prefer an oversteer car. Its a natural feel that they developed from karting. But as they mature and understand the value of race pace and how important it is to keep the tires alive, they transition to a more understeer style. You can see old footage of Lewis really whippin the tail around corners.
Have to comment again, because it helps you and because this channel "pure" content names me want you to be in top. Go get them!💪💪 I also think Lewis may be inputting at least driver position, those are very early options in design.
Really one of your most interesting episodes because this is a topic that many of us are already thinking about, so voila! here it is. I suppose since most teams will be planning next year as much as possible now, so that they can get onto 2026 as early as possible next year, I think it's hard to predict any conclusive answer since they haven't figured this car out and let's face it, they are regressing. We know this is an historic problem with them that we thought they had figured out in Japan last year...so maybe there is hope that they get it together. It seems to be floating in various states of compromises and we see the result of that.
Awesome video, Sainz one will be great too. Would maybe be hard to find footage but some sort of “is Kimi Antonelli that good” would be cool too, breakdown some F2 footage and like a yes/no if he fits in the Merc car
The 677 project is for the 2025 Ferrari to make it suitable for Lewis to drive. It will have a pull-rod Front and Rear Suspension the driver position will be moved rearward to give Lewis more feel on the rear. I think Charles will have to adjust his driving style for a car designed for Lewis.
That's actually a cool insight into it. Now I'm wondering, is Carlos taking the car's preferred driving style into consideration when deciding his move? Which team would suit him most?
How Hamilton adapts to the Ferrari is the most interesting storyline of 2025. Changing teams & cars has been disastrous for some drivers. Danny Ric was on it at Red Bull & Renault but the McLaren didn't work for him at all
Very thorough video, but I thought Lewis liked his cockpit further forward to brake late? The problem was Mercedes lacked rear end stability, when he moved his cockpit forward it upset the car's balance?
I hope Ferrari doesn't get stuck in the trap of developing the car to suit the driver. I think they have a lot more problems in house with development fall off through out the year. I thought they made a good step this year on tires but through the season they are lagging yet again. Its understandable with the competition but it will only be tougher next year. Hopefully they can get their logistics right. They have the technical expertise and never really had bad drivers. so its all there if they get everything aligned.
My thoughts that when everyone say that leclerc driving style was more similar to max but what i saw just from the telematry and combined with the racing line he actually more similar lewis than to max it's because they both are the drivers that use geometrical line wich was make them in the smooth driver category on my prospective just maybe one is a smooth oversteer and the other smooth understeer driver despite they actually do trail breaking more than anydriver on the grid but still both of their line was really beautiful in the 3D simulation on the helicopter camera shot style or comes from a camera angle that is looking down just my thoughts
I'll be curious to see because Ferrari Drivers, at least since 2012, have had to use more steering lock than other teams during cornering. Hamilton's current set up at Mercedes shows him to have very positive and quick steering. So it'll be interesting to see if he carries that over or they adapt to him or he adapts to it.
I think another aspect of the move will be how Lewis is going to help out Ferrari. I'm interested to see how his experience will help out the team and drive the development of the car for 26.
Charles is one of the fastest there is, but I’d still put my money on Lewis over the year. He’ll just make better calls, won’t buy into Ferrari’s daft strategy calls, and mostly cause he knows how to put together a decent season and hoover up points instead of going all in. As a fan of both I’m really looking forward to it, although I wish he’d finish his career at Mercedes
you nailed it on the head! its my ONE concern with lewis going to ferrari; they wont give carlos the rear end over charles, why would they change philosophy AGAIN for lewis.
I have been reading that Ferrari will concentrate on the 2025 car. The want to make it with the driver position further back and pull rod front and push rod rear suspension. They want a car that Lewis will like.
before watching the video i would say ferrari is very similar to the mclarens lewis used to drive and he was godly in qualifying in those cars his quali only changed after coming to mercedes if 2025 tires are anything similar to previous years i think he should be comfortably equal to leclerc from the get go

Bruh, Lewis's move to Ferrari isn't about what he does on the track. This is about what he does off the track. Both the LH brand and the Ferrari brand are looking to reach the next level, which they think they can accomplish together. Race results are irrelevant. This is a business long before it's a sport.

Thank you sir, glad I stayed till the end...
Liked and subbed...
Lewis could alway adjust his driving style. From his first season in F1 when traction control was banned
Bro, I really need the algorithm to recommend you to more peaople, you deserve it
Awesome video! I am glad I found your channel..
I’m glad you’re here my friend
Awesome video as always.
Do one on how DR3 would go in the redbull. I get a feeling hes going to get the seat after the break.
I think it’s a perfect fit honestly regardless of his form right now
Insightful video as always mate, keep it up 🙏🏼
All the driver changes should be interesting to watch next season.
Another great vid, been here since 5k
thank you my friend that means so much to me :)
Good channel keep it up ❤
I'll give you better one:
"Will Hamilton's driving style work with the Ferrari's racing strategy in 2025?"
Go get them!💪💪
I also think Lewis may be inputting at least driver position, those are very early options in design.
Very nice insights! Hopefully Ferrari takes notes from this video to meet the design considerations of the 2025 car for both drivers.
Agreed my friend I’m so exited to see all the solutions for 2026
Awesome video, Sainz one will be great too. Would maybe be hard to find footage but some sort of “is Kimi Antonelli that good” would be cool too, breakdown some F2 footage and like a yes/no if he fits in the Merc car
Excellent video, so informative and in detail.
😁❤️
Dude, you are without question the most insightful F1 content creator. Love the technical take you being, day in and day out.
Keep it up, my man!
Thank you my friend ❤️
The 677 project is for the 2025 Ferrari to make it suitable for Lewis to drive. It will have a pull-rod Front and Rear Suspension the driver position will be moved rearward to give Lewis more feel on the rear. I think Charles will have to adjust his driving style for a car designed for Lewis.
That's actually a cool insight into it. Now I'm wondering, is Carlos taking the car's preferred driving style into consideration when deciding his move? Which team would suit him most?
Can u do video like this about checo? Why he is struggling so much now?
Just think how many races he would have won if he wasn't being held back............well at least he wasn't saying the team was racist again.
How Hamilton adapts to the Ferrari is the most interesting storyline of 2025. Changing teams & cars has been disastrous for some drivers. Danny Ric was on it at Red Bull & Renault but the McLaren didn't work for him at all
If he is the driver you make out to be, it should be not be a problem to adapt.
Did Lewis do a Fernando move!? 🤔
Ferrari needs to just get a handle on their development
Good job as always 🙏🏾
Make a video about the third element that mercedes introduced for the front suspension
Please
Thinking about it :)
To me it seems like Leclerc and Sainz are evenly matched and it's more down to which track they are on and luck who's going to benefit.
Nice video. I’ll subscribe 🎉
He's going be learning the car the first year except the simulation goes exactly with the real but I guarantee he will put Ferrari back on the podium.
Let’s not fool around, anything past qualifying in Monaco was not a measure of the car that weekend. It was a parade.
I mean the 2023 Ferrari car was a stable platform for amy style.
Agreed I even say that, but the understeer helped the tires for the car later on
Good question well made video!
Side by side comparaison shows that Russell get a better straight line speed. A better party mode?
Very thorough video, but I thought Lewis liked his cockpit further forward to brake late? The problem was Mercedes lacked rear end stability, when he moved his cockpit forward it upset the car's balance?
So he drives opposite from Verstappen which is early braker.
Yes
@@F1Unchained I hope he does well at Ferrari and doesn't have the Vettel experience (So close but still so far).
There's no shot Ferrari keeps running Push rod front and Pull rod rear suspensions next season. If they do they'll be the 5th fastest car on the grid.
NEW F1UNCHAINED VIDEO, LETS GOOOO
😁❤️
I hope Ferrari doesn't get stuck in the trap of developing the car to suit the driver. I think they have a lot more problems in house with development fall off through out the year. I thought they made a good step this year on tires but through the season they are lagging yet again. Its understandable with the competition but it will only be tougher next year. Hopefully they can get their logistics right. They have the technical expertise and never really had bad drivers. so its all there if they get everything aligned.
100k soon !!🔥🔥🔥
There is no season in 20:25. What are you talking about???
Nice analysis!
Hamilton will lead them next year
Will have to see. Leclerc definitely won’t back down
😂😂😂
Leclerc had his chance now let's see what Lewis can bring!
Lead them where?
@@AndyFromBeaverton he'll answer that when the time comes!
❤Awesome info thanks.👍
Thank you ❤️
@@F1Unchained have a nice week , looking forward to the next upload 👍🥰
My hope around Ferrari gaining huge amounts of momentum and catching McLaren/Max Bull is flip flopping more than the 2021 championship leader
As a fan of both I’m really looking forward to it, although I wish he’d finish his career at Mercedes
you nailed it on the head! its my ONE concern with lewis going to ferrari; they wont give carlos the rear end over charles, why would they change philosophy AGAIN for lewis.
because Lewis can adapt better than Carlos
I have been reading that Ferrari will concentrate on the 2025 car. The want to make it with the driver position further back and pull rod front and push rod rear suspension. They want a car that Lewis will like.
before watching the video i would say ferrari is very similar to the mclarens lewis used to drive and he was godly in qualifying in those cars his quali only changed after coming to mercedes if 2025 tires are anything similar to previous years i think he should be comfortably equal to leclerc from the get go
A lot of work went into that 10 minute video, and it was worth the wait. Really good shit, FU. Er, F1U, yeah sorry. :) *ahem* Anyway, really enjoy your content and am glad I ran across your channel.
Bruh, Lewis's move to Ferrari isn't about what he does on the track. This is about what he does off the track. Both the LH brand and the Ferrari brand are looking to reach the next level, which they think they can accomplish together. Race results are irrelevant. This is a business long before it's a sport.
I mean lets be honest, they are going to put Both drivers on Inters in the dry to play some 4D chess.
Just wanna say mate, youve won me quite abit of money especially with calling that Lewis win at Silverstone he was 22-1 to win on Thursday
Glad to help my friend 😉
The biggest problem is that now ham will look like a burnt red pepper
