Abandoned and last used as a residence in 1954 .I see places like the one in this video on old mid 1950`s Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes .Or the movie Psycho with Anthony Perkins . Thank you .
Abandoned NorthJersey Damn, dude! I have the same kind of dreams!!! The houses aren't necessarily abandoned, they're just strange and I'm exploring - and they're either mine or I'm considering buying them! Weird.
Good man thanks for picking up that flag...I was going to leave the video if you stepped over it or on it....I stayed,so happy you did what you did..this is a great video!!
moonlit paranormal society ABNORMAL society is a much better name for you. sorry you hate America, I however do not and appreciate the fact that the flag represents those who gave their lives so people like you can have the freedom to spew attacks of hatred toward others...
This is a really great example of why those with any cash to spare should invest in gold coins or bars - all manmade currencies lose their entire value after only a short period of time, whilst gold is always valuable.
merk alert tv My mother is quite stubborn and it's hopeless telling her what to do. And besides that..that ol' Beautyrest is made awesome and is ten times better than any mattress you can find today..excellent materials and no lumps or bumps..firm and comfortable! You try arguing with a narcissistic Matriarch. 😄
I'm listening I absolutely loved that chair he put the flag on. and you can tell how much better mattresses were made back then compared to now, look how thick they were!
I've been binge watching your videos, we love older, vintage homes and I really appreciate how well you take the time to show things like woodwork & light fixtures without just rushing right through, you can tell you appreciate craftsmanship too. Thank you for picking up the flag off the floor.
Proud that you picked up the flag way to go thank you for showing the respect that it deserves! Like how you take the time to show us the things you are finding, great video.will be looking forward to watching more.
Abandoned NorthJersey If you post a clear image of the letter someone can translate. Take a pick with your best camera. Post to Intagram, picassa or flickr, whatever photo site you use.
0:36 mattress made very well. Wow. 1:25 red felt chair round at the bottom is 1920s era. Ha! 2:51 steam heated homes cozy. Rare find. Now days lame forced heat. Building is in great shape. Apt or house anyway must be owner otherwise be re rented. Time capsule. Nice thanks for sharing 11:40 Palestinian people would like to have this letter. You should have it delivered to antiquities 1910 is apart of Palestine history pple. Very cool.
Ahh, I see that you did count the stars. We had 37 states circa 1867 to 1877. That's amazing and might indicate that the inhabitants of the home - or their family - were here long before the Nazis took power. What a beautiful home! I love the deep window alcoves and the beautiful bedroom wallpaper! Also love the built-in cupboards/closets, & the matching red velvet chairs/couch! The furniture looks Victorian, as does the house (what I can see.) Even the radiator is beautiful! Such attention to detail! I'd love to see more, btw! Just beautiful! Oh, the organ definitely looks older than 1920s, to me.
The family that owned that flag are most likely direct descendants of Northern NJ first settlers .It seems more vicky because it was renovated several times before 1940 .Some areas are untouched from 1700s .A scene right out of Bodie California !
Ah, okay. Then I'm still wondering about the German/Jewish connection. I guess they could still be German Jews who emigrated in the Eighteenth Century. And yeah, the low ceilings indicated an older home, but I'm pretty sure that the glorious radiator was added later. I don't think they were used in the 1700s - certainly not that ornate.
I like UR vids. It's also a treat to see bits of old wall paper. I like to make doll houses. I get clues what to add to them by watching videos like yours & others. THANX! Also good job with the flag. Good on ya mate!
The letters are written on paper from an old hotel named Kata Dan in Tel Aviv doesn't exist any more was demolished on the late 50 and replaced by Hotel Dan Tel Aviv
If you ever come across an American flag you can take it to any Boy Scout Troop they collect them and do flag retirement ceremonies on Veterans Day. But thank you for respecting our flag. ❤️🇺🇸
Thank you . My family has lived in Hoboken and Jersey City since the 1860s . They had a strange accent and dialect that rubbed off on me .My Grandmother would say stuff like take out tha frikkin gahbitch befaw I hitcha witta wooden spoon .And tha wawta is berlin so go make da cawfee .
great Find! I wonder what the true value Is? I love that old Place! it looks like it could take weeks to really document the contents and artistic home itself.
As @Johan van Gelderen pointed out, the letter dates to 1933, not 1913. 1000 Reichsmark in paper money would be worth about 5 Euros today. If you had it in gold coinage, it would have been 60,000 Euros (tough luck...) The notepaper is a letterhead from a private hotel, or "pension" in Tel Aviv. The books by Maximilian Delphinus Berlitz are available in reprint - if you are a VERY elderly German-speaking individual who would like to learn Edwardian English, that's your course :)
LOL ! I know right ? I can get crisp bills in great shape for maybe 5 us dollars . A very old friend of mine was stationed at check point Charlie for a stint and came home with sack of bills with swastikas on them . Never used on some . No value and a shock to me .US paper money can be costly .
These bills are not reichsmark(1924)but goldmark, these bills were worth alot before 1914 when hyperinflation began,2790 goldmark was 1kg gold. Look them up,some might be rare and still be worth something.
Thank you sir so much for making this video and sharing the history...I've only made it to 4:49 so far and have paused it probably 9 times to look at everything lmao...it's time frozen still and is in gorgeous shape. Thank you for picking up the flag and showing the stitching and showing the detail to it shows a lot about your character placing it in the chair as well, I sub'd and gave a thumbs up sir, I'm sure that was an experience to remember seeing that in person.
Amazing product for sure . If this company still makes beds I will buy one . Whoever slept in it originally was a link to the turn of the century and beyond .
Are you planning a return trip to video the rest of the house? I'd love to see more of the architecture and contents. This place looks like a treasure trove of potential discoveries.
How come house is abandoned? How come no one has ever sold off the antiques? Can you get in trouble for tresspassing? How come no one has stolen anything? Sorry for questions....I'm just curious about it.
When you go into abandoned places do you actually take stuff or you just leave it there? Very curious about that when ppl go in random houses that have no caretakers?
please tell me you out everything back how you found it? and also be a little more careful when messing with relics. can't man handle everything. other than that pretty cool find.
Very interesting, someone stashing German banknotes in there; and probably dying without anyone else knowing about. You said the note was dated 1910, well at that time the value of 1000 Mark was worth £50 pounds; and that's a quite a lot of money back then - after the outbreak of World War 1, the value was practically wiped out. These type of things leave my thirsty curious about who put them there...well he or she certainly didn't come back for them.
ok... this video won me over and I subscribed!! you picked up our flag off that floor. Thank you. I'm amazed at the pristine condition everything is. The furniture awesome. The money even more awesome. My heart lept out with excitement!!! The first video of this room I noticed a white dress draped over a pile of things, was that a wedding dress? do you think someone pulled it out of one of those boxes? anyways, if I was there... I'd still be sitting there going thru the pictures, letters and everything else. lol. great find. BTW you do need to stabilize the camera a bit. I'm looking forward to seeing more adventures!!!
Could you search who owned this place? It would be interesting to see if he has any living relatives to speak to. I would love to know more about this person. Why is this abandoned? Why did no one claim the items and house?
I remember seeing farms 10 years ago going up Belmont off Broadway in P-Town into Haledon and Franklin Lakes . I will bet they now closed down . Or the remnants of some with probably elderly residents living it out in the old house .I should investigate it .
I am a sub. You find the most fabulous sites. My only complaint is the camera is all wobbly and often not in focus. Hard to see what is important to see. Lighting is often too bright. I do have concerns also about the fact there's little respect for what you find. Meaning: return things as you find them. That's the "rule" of etiquette I believe. This a very cool find. Lots of history including the house. Furniture is in impeccable shape. REALLY ENJOYED!
Yes, God Bless America. Isen't it nice to be Proud to be American. If there was ever anything I was to take from a premise, it would be a flag, to save it from taggers and vandals. You should go back and get it. Best Regards, Ody Slim
About that flag. Please send it to me. I will pay the postage and gas. It will keep the vandals from destroying it I will proudly fly it every day. And yes, God Bless America Ody Slim Proud to be an American
I really appreciate how you picked up the flag .. kudos.. also how did you come across this house? .. this is my first video I have seen of yours .. you have me curious an now I'm going to watch rest of your videos. How are you coming across these houses?
I found it by googling historic homes in jeopardy .It was listed for sale and it may have been purchased as it is no longer offered for sale . Hopefully the owner changed their mind as it called for a partial reno and demolition of the oldest wing .
I try not to cuss . Not on the tube anyhow .I have paper currency that makes that olde German money look like monopoly money . I left it behind as it did not belong to me .Thanks for keeping the faith .
Thank you for your fast answer - i just realized a little bit later after posting my comment - sorry..! I wonder very often, that even valuable things dont get stolen out of these abandoned places - the nice blue peacock-feather-effect vase could realize something in the range of 250$...if there is a signature (might even be a "Tiffany"?..) even more... Next time i'd like to accompaign you as a consultant.. 😉 Very best regards from Switzerland César
It is very rare to find places like this one . It was abandoned from 1900 till 1925 and some of the heirlooms are from the original family that lived in the house from 1700`s till 1900 .The owner of this house died at age 103 and it might be demolished or renovated soon . That vase is Stueben and is indeed valued in the hundreds. There is also a vase with a depiction of something historic or military from early 1800`s but it is stuck to the shelf as if it where glued .I might go back with a 20 mp camera and a 1500 lumen light .
@@AbandonedNorthJersey thank you very much for your precise answers - i did not even expected this. Sorry by the way for my little english, i am no very used to wright, but i can understand quite a lot... My main languages are (swiss)-german, french and some italian. I live in Switzerland and bear my live as antique dealer, even though the buisness became much lower in the last few jears. I have my own shop and do the most important markets and fairs, outside and in different covered markets. I am specialised on small objects as silver, china, jewellery and collectors items as bronzes, figures, but i do furniture, carpets and paintings as well. When i see some of the interresting objects in your videos i often ask myself, if i could resist taking "souvenirs" with me..?! I think, i'd try find the owner and buy the good stuff out..! Whenever you research for more precise informations for stuff, plaese dont hesitate to ask me - i would love to answer you & tell you as much as i now about! Kind regards César cesare.kauz@gmail.com
That place has all of the above mentioned . I even saw a painted tin can of flax thread circa 1840`s never opened amidst a debris field of shaving razors and bloodletting kits in leather cases in the attic .In the 1980`s and earlier I found many places like this historic home that had original furnishings and proper relics but they are very hard to find unless I travel into the country in 2019 .
No . Good place for one .I seen an orb once . There was a presence in my room for like 2 3 weeks . I saw the orb right over my bed for a split second like a flash .I found a collapsed barn at the time and salvaged a lot of books from 1688-1796 when I was only 18 .The books where in my room when it happened . Never happened again and that was in 1983 !
Hey Abandoned NorthJersey is there any chance to know the history of the place like who the people were and what happened to them I find it very interesting to know the stuff like that anyways you got another subscriber I just stumbled across this video now Im going to look for more of yours.
I appreciate the video its 14+ mins. long and you spend 5 mins. enthralled by a dusty ass mattress much more interesting things like the organ the flag and all the other antiques you spend a few seconds on and then you go back to that dusty ass mattress I was just rooting for Freddy Kruger to reach out and touch you have a good day.
You have the best explores. There is no better explore than the untouched home of lives long since lived. I'd pay good money to find these kind of explores. All I seem to get is tagged-up rat traps filled with litter and rat shit.
LLC Development beat me to it . The place is getting a makeover and the propery is being subdivided . The house is being converted into a doctors office and residence .The Flag is still there .Selling price 950,000,00
Great video but like retiredguy says you should invest in something to stabilize your videos a few times I almost clicked to go on to the next video. Nice respect for the flag. You made a great find with this house and the stash.
04:56 I did some research and discovered what this is: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physharmonica I learned to play accordion and organ as a child so this caught my eye immediately. Its manufactured in Germany which is in keeping with what you discovered about this fellow. Physharmonica.
I have one as well . That was how I knew to look there . I had tampered with it many times before and did not notice it as it is very dark in that room .
The "foot powered organ" is called a Melodeon which is a precursor version of the later upright pump organs. It is a empire style case from the looks of the legs. The right pedal pumps the air bellows, and the left one was the swell to open the reeds inside. It is not from the 1920's but in fact probably pre Civil War era. Which would be from the 1840's to the 1860's. Need to know more just ask :) Oh. Here is an example of a playable melodeon. Link: th-cam.com/video/8ksHFeMFVL8/w-d-xo.html
Its plain and that would explain the lack of ornaments . Pre Victorian maybe . I think your right .It has probably been in that house all its life . There is a mug in that room on a shelf with political figures in full military regalia that looks around 1830s or 40s . Its over the Satsuma vase in a different vyd. Thaks for the info . The pedals do have a very old styled look .
Yes . I have been inside some really scary places . I should see if there are pictrures of them on the net as they need to be seen .They are ALL gone now .
wow now thats a treasure trove; specially that flag. Must be worth a lot to a museum. And all that furniture and money to antique collector. Wonder who own this place. Why wont let any one take care of those valuable pieces of history ? gosh!!! what a shame. i always wonder how in the world you find these amazing places right by the roadside. Do you think if you inform some authority about the flag that they will come and rescue the whole place? awesome video .. take care.
I will miss this place . It might outlive us all .Hopefully it does . It is most likely known to the proper people . It may not be around for long . It was supposed to be restored with large homes built near it .
I certainly hope some effort was made to find the family of the letter writer. If the family survives today, any family history would be valuable to them.
you'd have to count the stars to see how old the flag actually is. If it was 150 years old, it would be really falling apart or full of moth holes. The Simmons Beauty Rest Mattress says it cost $39.99. Maybe from the 40's or 50's??? Heck i still have my wonderful Spring Air Mattress from the very early 1960's and i love it!
I did and thats why I know how old it is .It is not 150 years old it is from 1880s as it was most likely stored somewhere dry and free of moisture as the place was officially left to rot only 10 years ago and the upper floors have not been slept in since the early 1950s .What about all the upholstered chairs ? They do not have holes in them either .I would date the mattress to around 1925-35 .They where built to last .Thank you for watchin
the books are German and the money also, but dont get your hopes up in those days a 1000 bill was like 5 dollar because of the inflation, all the furniture i see in your clip had the most value. If i was in your shoes i was loading up my truck with it
WHY WHY WHY WLD FAMILIES LEAVE SUCH BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUES TO ROT! Thamks for beimg so respecful of the FLAG. Think the book was german. Very valueable. This is an amazing place! I could be in there for HOURS AND HOURS adorimg the beauty.
When my old mate died years ago I threw all his very old Czechoslovak books on the tip nobody in Australia was interested in them he escaped from the ruskies in PRAGUE IN 1958
Wow! how amazing! I love old stuff!
I LOVED THE WAY HE TREATED "OLD GLORY" HATS OFF TO YOU MAN.
Whoa. Terrific finds. A lot of antiques. Love the video
Abandoned and last used as a residence in 1954 .I see places like the one in this video on old mid 1950`s Alfred Hitchcock Presents episodes .Or the movie Psycho with Anthony Perkins . Thank you .
Nice antiques!!! A collectors dream find!!
I used to have vivid dreams of exploring abandoned houses . Not even as cool as this one but still a proper find . I never get those dreams anymore .

What an amazing house of treasures! The furniture is amazing and even if the money isn't worth anything now, it is such a wonderful find!
yes it is .
Wow! Jackpot! Also, my mom still sleeps on my grandmothers Beautyrest which says $79.99 (from 1960's I think) and it's in great condition.
Yes that label looked aged .The bed looked almost new .

No , Mother is resting comfortably in her wheelchair . I rolled her into the taxidermy room . Mother is very proud of my stuffed bird collection .
She is just a guest in room 1 . Mother insists that she is a bad woman ! She stole 5 grand from her employer .
it's a shame that gorgeous furniture is just sitting in there unused.
I hope it can be all saved .I am certain it will .
I agree
I'm listening I absolutely loved that chair he put the flag on. and you can tell how much better mattresses were made back then compared to now, look how thick they were!

Abandoned NorthJersey I wish I were there, I would of taken that raspberry color chair that was in the bathroom. JS
these are very good looking old classic style furnitures. someone should preserve them and put them in a museum or somewhere that is safe!

love your videos thank you
Generally with stash compartments you have to open another drawer or slide a decorative part of the desk to "unlock" the area you want access to.
Have you taken any thing to be appraised? Could the money still be of any value?
no

That entire place should be on Antiques Road Show! $$$
The BEAUTYREST mattress is now a rest home for retired bed bugs :)
LOL . How this old mattress still looks good is beyond me . I would like to look up when they sold for 40 bucks .
Just goes to show the quality of products back then, still in great shape after all those decades.

When you go into abandoned places do you actually take stuff or you just leave it there? Very curious about that when ppl go in random houses that have no caretakers?
This place has a caretaker
just wondering do u have to get permis too go on these aband building etc/
Yes it is proper to ask permission .
Permission is needed to do this . Do not do it . It is not worth it .If you have permission go for it . If you dont you risk PRISON
God what a goldmine in furniture i would love to have all that old furniture. That's when furniture was built better.
Thats why it has not fallen apart like walmart crap

I will proudly fly it every day. And yes, God Bless America
Ody Slim Proud to be an American
I really appreciate how you picked up the flag .. kudos.. also how did you come across this house? .. this is my first video I have seen of yours .. you have me curious an now I'm going to watch rest of your videos. How are you coming across these houses?

Thanks . More to come . Hopefully I get my new Canon HD camera going . It can focus in on the finest print !
Thank you for putting the flag on the chair and not walking on it.
Your welcome . God Bless America .
For picking up that flag and placing it on the chair you sir have earned a sub. Thank you very much.
How do you find these very interesting places. The house seems to be on a busy road and yet it has been Abandoned for a long time. Thanks
I found it by googling historic homes in jeopardy .It was listed for sale and it may have been purchased as it is no longer offered for sale . Hopefully the owner changed their mind as it called for a partial reno and demolition of the oldest wing .
Your OK man....MONEY is enough to say the f word over..... I don't hold it against st you bro!!! Good video
I try not to cuss . Not on the tube anyhow .I have paper currency that makes that olde German money look like monopoly money . I left it behind as it did not belong to me .Thanks for keeping the faith .
Totally Amazing I've found foreign money also before
Cool find
Cool video man
where do you find theses old houses?
Thank you for your fast answer - i just realized a little bit later after posting my comment - sorry..! I wonder very often, that even valuable things dont get stolen out of these abandoned places - the nice blue peacock-feather-effect vase could realize something in the range of 250$...if there is a signature (might even be a "Tiffany"?..) even more...
Next time i'd like to accompaign you as a consultant..
😉
Very best regards from Switzerland
César
Kind regards
César

That place has all of the above mentioned . I even saw a painted tin can of flax thread circa 1840`s never opened amidst a debris field of shaving razors and bloodletting kits in leather cases in the attic .In the 1980`s and earlier I found many places like this historic home that had original furnishings and proper relics but they are very hard to find unless I travel into the country in 2019 .
@2.52, 53, when yr video player was on the old radiator, did you see the orb, do you believe in after life? Great video. So many old treasures.
Abandoned NorthJersey did u watch your video again and then, did you see the orb, wow that's a spooky story 2. 😱
I would bet some antique furnature people would go crazy with some of that furnature . I thought I saw a nice tiger oak mid century head and footboard
It is all still in decent shape . That old bed frame is victorian period for sure .Last time it was slept in was about 1954 .
Hey Abandoned NorthJersey is there any chance to know the history of the place like who the people were and what happened to them I find it very interesting to know the stuff like that anyways you got another subscriber I just stumbled across this video now Im going to look for more of yours.
I know who built it and when .And I also know about the entire history of the place but it is not to be revealed .
Is this a house you broke into?
I appreciate the video its 14+ mins. long and you spend 5 mins. enthralled by a dusty ass mattress much more interesting things like the organ the flag and all the other antiques you spend a few seconds on and then you go back to that dusty ass mattress I was just rooting for Freddy Kruger to reach out and touch you have a good day.
I am Freddy .I will meet you in your nightmare .
You have the best explores. There is no better explore than the untouched home of lives long since lived. I'd pay good money to find these kind of explores. All I seem to get is tagged-up rat traps filled with litter and rat shit.
I'm Dutch.
The book is written in German.
The letter in the stash compartment is dated, 1933, not 1913.
Yes I noticed that after I uploaded it . I may have to put an annotation at that moment to correct it .With a name like yours I believe you .
I absolutely love your voice
Thank you .
Did you buy that abandoned place? And what did you do with the awesome flag and furniture ?
LLC Development beat me to it . The place is getting a makeover and the propery is being subdivided . The house is being converted into a doctors office and residence .The Flag is still there .Selling price 950,000,00
Abandoned NorthJersey the flag is how much gulp....
A lot of Edwardian style furniture. Some Victorian. Beautiful. Obviously, someone else has been there and did some messing up.
came here to see the mattres camera skills off the shelf lad
funny
Great video but like retiredguy says you should invest in something to stabilize your videos a few times I almost clicked to go on to the next video. Nice respect for the flag. You made a great find with this house and the stash.
Sorry but I am almost 60 and have a a boatload of ailments . But I still get up off my butt because I am not a lazy person .
I think those German marks are worth about $1500.00 US dollars.
Great video :)
Thanks .More to come .
Welcome :)
im canadian. sir, i want to thank you for picking your flag up off the floor. god bless america / all of it.
Your welcome . Very nice of you to say . Cool Country to have a border with eh ?

I did some research and discovered what this is:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physharmonica
I learned to play accordion and organ as a child so this caught my eye immediately. Its manufactured in Germany which is in keeping with what you discovered about this fellow. Physharmonica.
yo dude great vid.. but in the future dont manhandle them old books, thank you
That desk was called a piano desk. With the fat legs. I had one in my house I bought. It also has secret hidden places in it!!!!!!
I have one as well . That was how I knew to look there . I had tampered with it many times before and did not notice it as it is very dark in that room .
Abandoned NorthJersey I want that flag!!
Link:
th-cam.com/video/8ksHFeMFVL8/w-d-xo.html
Its plain and that would explain the lack of ornaments . Pre Victorian maybe . I think your right .It has probably been in that house all its life . There is a mug in that room on a shelf with political figures in full military regalia that looks around 1830s or 40s . Its over the Satsuma vase in a different vyd. Thaks for the info . The pedals do have a very old styled look .
I stumbled across this video after watching some funny moments in battlefield 1
But this a pretty cool video
Yes this place yields many finds relevant to WW1 and 2 or slightly before it .
You maybe should've folded the flag properly, but glad you picked it up. (I believe we're supposed to fold it always?) Very cool vid! Thank you!
Where was this house located. Is it for sale.
sold to a developer
where is this located I mean what area what city or town
Passaic County near the passaic river
abandoned North Jersey did you ever explore a house that was apparently haunted?
I hope you kept those books especially with a letter in it...it could be important, a message for someone & have it translated.
I did not take it . It is still there .
Lol the f bomb!
Did you count the number of stars on the flag?
Yes it is from the 1800s only 37
That flag was circa 1867 to 1877.
Love the old mattress it is from1937
It has a date of around that time on the tag .
i got vertigo after watching this...
sure sure .I really believe you
yea, what would you do with it anyways
I enjoyed the video . Please no cuss words . Trinidad and Tobago says Hello .
Were you able to get real money for it
the books are German and the money also, but dont get your hopes up in those days a 1000 bill was like 5 dollar because of the inflation, all the furniture i see in your clip had the most value. If i was in your shoes i was loading up my truck with it
good
WHY WHY WHY WLD FAMILIES LEAVE SUCH BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUES TO ROT! Thamks for beimg so respecful of the FLAG. Think the book was german. Very valueable. This is an amazing place! I could be in there for HOURS AND HOURS adorimg the beauty.
That spinet reed organ is very collectable.
benchkey It's a Physharmonica.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physharmonica
Thanks you, didn't know the proper name
When my old mate died years ago I threw all his very old Czechoslovak books on the tip nobody in Australia was interested in them he escaped from the ruskies in PRAGUE IN 1958
