- Five months ago Erkut and Balazs made the first Dutch Style Aquarium for our showroom. It's been evolving nicely, but lately, it got overgrown a bit, so Balazs thought He should rethink the concept after trimming the plants.
Do you guys like this aquascaping style?

I loved the way you showed each plant in the beginning!! ;)
Very beautiful result!
Cheers, glad you liked the vid.
Your videos are so awesome, I love watching all the steps and I like seeing how messy everything gets before the final picture is unveiled. Makes me think anyone can do it!
Stunning after the trimming!! Love the look now!
That’s is a beautiful setup! All plants is a beautiful thing! Balazs, a master at work! Thanks for the video!
THanks for the kindness, as always!
Great job, just great, it turned out very beautiful!!!
Glad you like it!
beautifull, no rocks or piecies of wood sticking out erverywhere. only beautifull plants. still looks like a landscape. great job
Cheers, glad you like this style.
Looking beautiful!
Stunning end result! I can relate with the mess when you started, I do it all the time when tweaking my tanks :)
Very Good Update now it looks more beautiful
I still have a hard time doing hardscape although I get so much inspiration from all the things you build and put together!!
I love how the Dutch style just uses the plants to create some of the most beautiful aquascapes there are!!
I have been binge watching Green Aqua all morning 🙏
Thank you so much for always sharing your expertise and experience!! I remember in the last comment somebody called you a guru 🤣 I agree!!
You are my Sensei and I am your grasshopper 🤣🤣♥️🌿🐟🌿
Have a very blessed day Balalz, Tommy and all the beautiful people at Green Aqua 🙏♥️🥰🌿🐟🌿
Thanks so much for the kind comment, glad to read you're catching up. Stay tuned Mary.
I am surprised you have not been here before Mary, great material. Dutch style , lots of trimming, with hardscape sooner or later algae. I prefer cutting the grass to scrubbing the patio...
@@williammcdowell6257 oh I have loved Green Aqua for a long time 💚🌿❤️
William that was good🤣😁 ... "I prefer cutting grass to scrubbing the patio" 100% agree!!;
I'm going to have to remember that one 💪👍🤣🙌♥️ I hope you're having a wonderful day🙏
@@marypaigeflynn4512 And you have a lovely weekend and I'll take the hint and do an update in a month or two and maybe upload something on my simpler, smaller, 'dirt' tank - with which I 'cheat' and have CO2 injection. But I am no computer whizz - kind regards.
Balazs consider trying to find a small airline beverage cart/trolley for your tools. I found one secondhand a few years ago and it now holds all my tools and supplies. It’s been a fantastic organizational tool. As everything would be stored behind closed doors, none of your team would be tempted to borrow items from an open top tray. 🙂👍
This is a great idea, William! Thanks for that, I will surely look into it. Our current Ikea rolling cart is OK, but I kinda need a bigger and more convenient one, that has doors, etc. Cheers, you are the best.
amazing setup and amazing growth. love this new changing
Cheers!
01:35 even though I already know the plants. The dedicated plant pictures sure would’ve made learning them easier. Great idea 🙂
Yeah, it is. LOL
Oh…you are so good! Looks amazing!!!
Glad you like the end result. Thanks for watching.
Guys please! We want more of the dutch style .. :)
Balazs at his best, doing it with aplomb and surgical precision. 👏👍👍
Cheers!
Putting green plants and red side by side on the left made a very nice visual. 😁
Glad you like the change. Cheers.
Great job!!! 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Beautiful!
Cheers!
I saw your aquarium video .take are really good plants are very nice good
This video made me anxious 🙈🙈🙈! Great job tho, turned out awesome.
I know. LOL. Sorry!
Stem plants and dutchstyle are our favorites 🥰😋
Cool!
I was scared for you at first... I thought it was going to be a mess like the Big Island tank was a while back. Nice job!
Thanks! I was scared too.
great my friend 👍👍👍
Cheers!
For first time in the history of your channel i saw you sweeting and doing real aqua scaping work, good job once you get more practice you will stop sticking rocks and woods around all your tanks.
LOL
Erkut's scapes are very pretty. His plants look so lush and healthy. This scape needed a trim and it definitely looks much better now.
lol prob would have been easier .to take it all out and start again ..having said that you performed a miracle ,good job 😁..btw great channel ..ive just set up one myself ..thnx
THANKS! I finally learned how to say Erkut's name!
Well, I tried my best to pronounce it as good as possible. :)
Looks A lot better now
Glad you like the revamp.
That really was messy 😁! I love stem plants and this just reminded me how I look when I need to go for huge trims, cutting rotalas to the ground and replanting. Takes like 3 to 4 hours 😅.
Yeah, that's why I try to avoid stems in the first place. :)
Are you guys telling me that is necessary to pull off the bottom of the stem plants from the soil and replace them by their top parts?
Only if you want the scape to look good most of the time. Otherwise you'd have to wait until it looks good - a week or so, wait another week until it's overgrown, then another week trimmed, unholy.
@@klebberbrazilian.theprofessor I only cut them to the ground like each 6 to 7 months. On my case, that's when they start looking leggy and there are already too many tops placed between the others. I would say it's a matter of taste 🙂
@@PedroMoraisPedroMorais3322 Are you brazilian too?
Harika 👍😊
Cheers!
Thanks...
You're welcome.
very good, but I love first variant more))
Aquascaping is beautiful but the maintenance can get ugly, thanks for showing us the struggles it takes to get a great aquascape!
Well, maintenance is easy if the tank has a different style with different plants. I love low-maintenance tanks.
I love the “Don’t Touch” 😂
LOL
Dutch scaping seems harder than most other styles. you know he wanted to add some rocks or wood half way through the rescape...lol
LOL, right!
how do you have the channels for the chihiros lighting please, it looks perfect, I have a chihiros vivid 2 mini and I need advice on the best settings. thank you for answer.
We do not have a specific settings, but please read the following article from our team: greenaqua.hu/en/blog/post/chihiros-led-light-settings-color-intensity-and-duration-what-fits-best-for-planted-aquariums
Good job! Looks very neat. Do you have an internal filter in addition to the canister filter? (02:38)
Its the surface skimmer i guess
Great video, I've been on your channel for 1 1/2 years and I like it VERY much. I live in Austria and would like to take a look at your shop.
I have a question: You know a German TH-camr called "Aquaowner", he has visited you before. He has something in his shop that as far as I know hasn't been available anywhere else until now. Now the actual question: Do you know the "Cut and Grip" tool? And if so, what do you think of it?
Otherwise I wish you a nice day. :D
Cheers, looking forward to have you over. You are not far away. No, unfortunately I don't know that tool.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks for your quick reply! :D
it's raining here and green aqua uploaded a new video, what a day
Enjoy!
@@GreenAquaShop thanks for the dedication in making great videos every week, like the way Balaz hosting every video.
Cheers, let's have others host some too!
Personally i think a few pieces of very thin driftwood would be a nice touch to break up the soft curves from the plants
Yeah, but that is kinda not allowed in the Dutch style tanks.
Superb Balazs, greatly improved, but; were you molting? Must be working too hard!
LOL, for many years.
👏👏
Cheers!
i actually liked the before more. like a plant takeover
LOL, I know you do.
What fertilizer are using for this Dutch tank ?
Hola como remineralizais el agua de ósmosis de este acuario al no tener rocas que endurezca el agua usáis gh-kh plus o gh plus, gran canal green aqua se aprende mucho gracias a todos saludos desde España.
We use GH plus, we don't need KH plus, but some people do. Greetings. I love Spain.
what do you do if you have fish in the aquarium and you want to do such a rearrangement? Does it affect the gills of fish?
Not really. They will suffer a bit because of the short-time stress but they'll be fine - if you don't stir the substrate and do big water changes with good quality water.
U should get Dennis wong for ur Dutch style tank!
Noted, Jeffrey.
A bientôt.
looks 10x better. now..
Cool, mission accomplished then.
👍
🙏
What ferts were used? ADA?
Yupp.
Do u have co2 system for tank
Yes, for all tanks.
what brand of fertilizer use in Dutch tank?
We use ADA here.
Oh boy! What a mess! But it turned out great. Good job
I had to make that mess, it was unsustainable.
Great work, Balász! But you probably had caused ammonia spikes in the tank, don't you?
Note: That huge amount of work has changed my mind about fertilization. From now on, LEAN FERTILIZATION, hahaha.
Probably not. I think it's pretty free of Ammonia. I made sure to do big water changes.
I recently went to my local pet shop... And they have the seachem supplements. What seachem supplement do you think is absolutely essential for plants to grow?
You can go with just the regular Flourish, or you can go for the Seachem full fert range, depending on your preference. You will find all info and dosing charts on our page or on the Seachem page. If I had CO2 and was serious about the hobby I would go for the full range.
@@GreenAquaShop does it matter if I put supplements in the tank when the light are off?
It does not matter. :)
👏👏🎉🎉
Thanks for the view and for the comment.
Sorry. I'm new to this. What exactly makes this a Dutch style aquascape?
3:03 😂
Yeah! :)
I wonder if Balazs has a strong back up behind him.. Cause he always messed up with other's tank. Lol
LOL, it's not something I do voluntarily though. If it was me, I would just leave it as they were, but most of the times we just have to do something.
👍👍👍👍👍 from indonesian
Cheers!
Erkut definitely gonna be sad that u removed pogostemon helferii
Hope not. :)
Planting foreground with tank half filled with water is really a difficult task.
As soon as you try to push the second bunch into the soil the first bunch gets pushed out of soil.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
The ergia densa always looked out of place. This should look great 👍
Thanks! Cheers!

@@GreenAquaShop sunt învățat sa vad acvarii bogate unde se pot a unde pestii
I agree this tank needed a change but I don’t think Carlo was the right move. Far to boring, typical, and almost messy looking - which does not fit with the grouping, lines, orderly and neat esthetic of this Dutch layout, especially when the layout reaches its prime.
Something like a center grouping of blood vomit and a few erio vars with maybe some interesting crypts around the corners and sides would keep it true and make it pop.
Even if a carpet was a must, glosso kept with its uniform and more simple structured look would be a much better great fit. Plus it’s demanding maintenance would match the stems. To go with it some hydropiper around the side, where you mentioned you see, fading to the back would add great perspective(:
These are good ideas, Grant. Maybe we'll use some of these plants in the future in this tank!

LOL, right.
It would have been easier to take it all out & start again!
I know, right?
Old scape was amateur, rescape is great
Really stressful how messy the scape in the first minute.
Yeah. :)
I know it's a very good idea to replant tanks from time to time, but man, that is a mess I really want to stay away from.
I completely agree with you. :)
