Roem revealed that the producers sent a van around to collect their drag which is how Sederginne got that costume there. The Netherlands is a tiny county, None of these queens had fly, most just got in an Uber. Hilversum, which is where the show was recommended, is only 25km from central Amsterdam. Sederginne would have the longest journey, from Antwerp in Belgium, but that's just a 2 hour drive.

Also both Roem and Abby's drag mother said that they were told to have waterproof makeup for their entrance looks.
That doesn't read right either. Roem said it and Abby's drag mom said it.
Sederginne had to come to the Netherlands earlier and head over heels because of the quarentine situation. But yeah there are definitely upsides to such a smol country 🧡

This was filmed THIS summer, so that's why they were social distancing.
How the hell did they push it through editing and everything else fast enough for us to be watching it now? That's so crazy to me, since for most the other seasons don't they film it one summer and release it the next spring?
@@slumscape The American shows really focus on creating a "story" that carries through the season and they edit the shit out of it - so they take nearly a year from filming to airing (I'm sure they could do it faster but that is the schedule they have with the networks). European shows typically have much faster turnaround - This was actually filming in August. (mind blown?) lol
They also mentioned COVID during one of the confessionals, that's what made me realize if was filmed recently
Miss Abby OMG was probably representing a "rainha de bateria", something like "the queen of the band". In Brazil's Carnaval parade competition, each school of samba has a band section and the woman that leads the band dancing is called rainha de bateria. Their costumes are usually the most luxurious, because the position is very emblematic on the overall parade and is usually filled by famous actresses/celebrities. Yeah, it was a very literal representation, but I just wanted to share the background.
This is very relevant context that I would’ve never known if I didn’t read this. Really changes how I feel about her look; she kinda did lead the charge in her runway walk too 💜✨
The show was actually filmed in July or August this year, that's why the judges are social distancing.
The queens were apparently in quarantine for two weeks before filming.
Now I feel even worse for Roem! Isolating for 2 weeks and gets eliminated first.

The Netherlands has had reality competition series with money prizes. I think there will be a money prize included in future seasons if this season does well in the Netherlands. Mainly because it was very hard for the producing company of Drag Race Holland to sell the show to a Dutch television channel.
The company actualy has already had the rights to Drag Race Holland for five years. Only after the succes of DRUK were they able to sell Drag Race Holland to Videoland. That's why it's also realy important for all Dutch people to watch it on Videoland, so that the company knows that there is an interest in the franchise in the Netherlands. Otherwise it will become a one season show for us.

Did anyone else feel like the episode was rushed? The untucked was like three minutes, the lip sync was like 20 seconds. This was filmed during the summer which was during the pandemic that's why they are sitting six feet apart. Season 13 and All-Star 6 will also have the judges sitting six feet apart with plexiglass in between each judge.

@@TravioliRavioli I'm thinking the controversy over Miss GImhuay being able to successfully incorporate such a major element from outside the supposedly closed environment probably went over very poorly with Ru. Even William wasnt able to participate in Season 4 finale without a special intervention by Ru.. Gimhuay being permitted to walk as just any other contestant in spite of such major rulebreaking probably pissed a lot of people off.

@@TravioliRavioli Well a few eps before finale Mocha Diva (not trying to start drama but did anyway) revealed that GImhuay assembled her "scooter" vehicle thing outside of designated show areas. When Art confronted Gimhuay with this accusation she admitted to it, and was disqualified as a result. I believe Mocha Diva was also eliminated that week..

The journals are actually from the HEMA, which is a very Dutch store similar to the Muji (Japanese),Tiger or Sorgere Grene (Danish) but mostly centered on stationary and household items. So they represented a Dutch store by giving them those ;) NOT from the Euro bin!! ;)
Finally! A review that does not dwell on the presence of subtitles. Y'all are the absolute best.

Sanne Wallis de Vries, one of the judges here, is an actress and comedian known for her impersonation of queen mother Beatrix - so there you go!

The flowers that Envy was holding on the runway were actually red wooden tulips. The Netherlands is known for its tulips which you can see in the thousands in full bloom at Kuekenhof gardens. The wooden tulips are sold at many tourist stores or markets throughout the Netherlands.

I think the Chinese queen Chan is talking about is Wu Zetian. She was the only female empress of China and was notorious for killing people who stood in her way. However, she is not that extreme compared to her male counterparts and is often times painted in a bad light. She accomplished a lot for the everyday people of China and many regarded her well during her time. I may be a bit hazy on the details but I think she is a fascinating historical figure worth learning more about
