i totally understand that it's a reality tv competition and that her looks were comparatively considered weak, but as an australian it was pretty tough to watch jojo, a proud indigenous queen get eliminated first while wearing an "always was, always will be" look.
Eyyyy! Thorèal here, thanks so much IMHO for including the explanation behind 'Always was, always will be'. Jojo Zaho may be eliminated but its always worth raising a conversation around how systematic racism has affected, and continues to affect, our Aboriginal Aussies. Follow our queens, encourage education. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land 🖤💛❤
What pisses me off about Jojo going home first is the fact that she was the only aboriginal queen on the season. They managed to cast more openly racist queens than aboriginal queens.
Facts. As an Aussie watching, it was quite devastating. It was so important to have Jojo on the show and I think their time was cut way too short. As a country that is completely rife in racial prejudice especially to First Nation people, it would have been more impactful to have a) more representation, but also b) allow her to tell her story.
Elektra Shocks hometown outfit was a representation of the Maori name for her city, which translates to land of 100(?) lovers. It was actually really good but the judges didnt get the cultural references, even when she explained it. Her cape was a Pride version of a traditional Maori Korowai feather cloak and the skirt represented the Maori name for NZ which is Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud. They understood Jojo's references but not Elektras for some reason.

@@greynotchristian Attraction is entirely subjective, what is/is not "attractive" varies wildly from one person to the next. Personally, I think that Guy Pearce is a strikingly handsome man, beautiful even.. I just want to throw this out. Australian/down under humor can be very harsh. Their reads go beyond and some words that we in the us get gagged by they use pretty casually. Watch this season with that in mind. Drag race fandom can be hella toxic.
those accents girl, they are fantastic, im like should i call an ambulance? are you guys having a stroke?. all joking aside a very fun start to the episode
I wanna know you guy’s thoughts on the idea that’s been thrown around lately saying that drag race review shows are problematic. Monét is one of my favorite drag race girls along with bob and i feel like nothing she’s said on her show was worse than anything you guys, the queens on the pit stop, FPR, and race chaser say. Drag race review has been a thing for years and it’s never been this big of a problem until now. I’ve seen a lot of s13 girls shading Monét and Bob for out of context clips but have nothing to say about any other review show. Of course when you compile every bad thing a person says about someone it looks awful. Anyway i just feel like since you guys exist in a similar format i would really like to hear your opinions on it. I totally understand why girls being reviewed would be mad and they have the right to be. But i feel like if we are gonna say what Bob and Monet are doing us wrong then a lot of other review shows should be held to the same standard. Really hope you guys see this.
Rabbit poof fence a film made in 2002 will giev you a great but sad overview of Aborigianl people in Australia. David Bowie;s lets dance video was actually banned in Australia as he supported the struggle- love that man, Karen is not forgiven - she may have forgiven herself. A quick Golli overview for yanks, Black people in the UK were trying to remove both the toys and books from UK schools since the 1950s - they were removed around the 80s in the UK. In Australia the UK's cousins as the Aboriginal people had zero rights the camapign did not start to address Racism and things like Golliowog removal until the 1980s and removal of Golii from schools occured around the 1990s. early 00s, Their was a lot of backlash from white people both in the UK and Australia from people like Karen , Who thought people were to PC and tto sensitive, So they continued collecting and worshipping something racist. Karen was still collecting and posting up to 2o16 despite people telling her not t. She finally relented when she went international and apologised. Not accepted ! Scarlet was also warned about her act and apologised when she took and intrenational platform - so apology not accepted. If people make a one off mistake I will accept an apology, But both Karen and Scarlet are indicative of that non PC dont care white Australian male who was top of the food chain so did not care at the time- international audinec has slid them down that food chain so they are sorry. So I dont care . I will watch their art and not invest in either of them
