As cool as this tower is there is NOTHING that can replace the legendary twin towers. Even though we can't see them anymore and they're gone, theyre still there in spirit, including everyone who lost their lives there on 9/11/01.
Funny you say that because when the buildings were up, they were hated a lot. I went there a lot as a kid and loved the place but the locals of battery park called it the trap. That was back in 2000
The tower is build for the New Generation, who are born with cell phones in their diapers. This tower has all the brand new unessecarry things but it has no charme.
Daniel Why would the locals hate the WTC at the time it was still around? If anything, they should’ve felt honored to be near one of the tallest and recognizable buildings at that time. And how did it come to be labeled as “The Trap” by some people?
@@619AGT alA lot of people thought they were ugly... Just big concrete towers. Now that they have gone and in a such horrible way, people look back on them fondly

You'll have nothing to worry about in the tower or that area. The only thing I'd say is the whole defund the police movement has unleashed a lot of random crime in certain areas as well as the subway. Just practice a little vigilance and you'll be fine. Be safe and have fun!
@@trancendences Gotta admit, I was for that reason when I was there in '06 and again on my honeymoon up at the Empire State in 2012. Not for any rational reason, just the unease about being atop a huge building in a city known for what happened in 2001. Why does everyone refer to New York as the greatest city in the world? It's a cesspole of filth and chaos, it's over populated, dirty, and way to expensive. 3 reasons why I have no desire to ever go there... I don't care for heavy population and traffic , I'll pass....
There is just something about this that gives me the hibbogibbics! It's like a concentration of the book 'A Brave New World'. Like this is what they will seduse us with to sell us "the new future"...
The New WTC is stronger, with its concrete core, the TKE elevatoprs are faster, smoother than the Otis', but the observatory just isn't like the south tower's , where you could go outside. I'm with the comment before mine. Nothing can replace them. And most disappointing: the selfie takers at the reflecting pools. Laughing, lighthearted, at a MEMORIAL??? Says a lot about society. Some of us WILL never forget. Have some respect.
It's strange because this looks like a depiction of "the future" but it's over 3 years ago... Still I don't believe I'll ever set foot in that building.
It certainly lacks character. It was designed by a committee to appease everyone, very "corporate", lack of any flare or character, inoffensive, unremarkable. I mean the building is quite impressive no doubt, but there's nothing that really stands out as special other than its the building that came after the original twin towers.

The towers were incredible to stand beneath and just stare up at them while sitting in the plaza. Even though they've put life there again it still has an eerie feeling of death because it's like a 16 acre graveyard. It's real sad.
I don't want to give bad advice, but I feel like the only time I've seen lines insanely long were when it opened. Most days now don't seem too bad at all. Enjoy your visit!
