I'm gonna do the same. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll tell my kids and grandchildren that I survived this mayhem and destruction. I'll do the same for Independence Day and Godzilla as well.
The giant airplane in the movie is the Antonov 225, the world's largest aircraft. It's Ukrainian and this unique item has been destroyed in its hangar by Russian bombardment. There are plans to build a second one
This movie and the movie The Day After Tomorrow are still good movies to watch. Both have great special effects and showing a desperate and frightening future but with a hopefull ending. Yoy always have great and warm reactions and lovely sparkling eyes.
The thing this one shows more than any other one is all the death. When the catastrophes happen, in each one of them you can see and hear thousands of people screaming in fear and dying. Its quite impactful.
If I remember the full movie (yeah, it's even in the reaction at 9:45 too) they stated that it was the same tunnel. One British movie reviewer I watched back in 2015 said it was such bad taste to make that a reference.
23:53 Now some may consider this movie as silly; I kinda do lol; but one thing is for certain is that a lot of the actors did a PHENOMENAL presentation
the beautiful Emma reactions, exciting reaction!! you might be interested to know there is an alternate ending, the father on the cruise ship actually has a good ending as well and were saved! also a few another insane disaster films is San Andreas, and Geo Storm.
I've been a fan of the disaster movie genre since the 70s. The bigger the bluster the better. This one has a fair amount of cheese too which just adds to it. ("Earthquake" is a good one for cheese of the 70s variety!) Fun reaction. Cheers and adventure on!
50:40 But he makes a good point sometimes, Anhauser or whatever his name is, is a realist, whereas Dr Helmsley is a humanitarian. So he isnt the villan he makes good points. Infact if this movie was real, no way they could have too much food for everyone unless like they said African continent has risen and there is vegetation there (or can be grown soon)
Every time I hear 2012 mentioned I remember not the Mayan calendar, nor even this movie. I only remember Britney Spears' dance song called "Til the World Ends" whose music video specifically cites the year "2012". I'm also reminded of Skeeter Davis's 1962 song, "End of the World" (also covered by Imelda May in 2003).
Maya's calendar is based on cycles. The was no prediction on world ending just end of big cycle. The weirdos made the stuff up with world ending. The continental shift is possible with upcoming pole shift. Some expecting it around 2030. Some rich people already preparing for this event.
Too many people confuse the Mayan Calendar with the end of the world. The Mayan calendar ENDED in 2012, but that doesn't mean the world was going to end. The Mayan civilization was virtually destroyed by the Spanish so it's probable there was nobody left to continue the calendar. The small plane sequence was pretty hokey as well, since even s student pilot knows when you pull back on the yoke, the plane CLIMBS. They wouldn't be flying at street level, even if the ground collapsed. They would have been easily 2500 feet AGL or more within minutes of getting airborne.
I know exactly what you mean. I gave all my money away. I got an insane number of parking tickets that I never paid off. I made up with family members I hate. In 2012, I asked three women to marry me, a year later, in 2013. I feel like the planet Earth let me down. 😃
i remember when i watched this the first time, the escape from the city, made me emotionally sick. It was so intense and just thinking about the sheer, mind boggling terror that everyone else not in the car must have been feeling, it hit me really hard in the guts I dont feel that way now, but man i still remember that first viewing vividly
It is an absolutely depressing thing to think about :( I first found out about Yellowstone at age 8; how if it erupting could be absolutely world devastating. I couldn't sleep properly for like 2 months, lol
@@PauloHernandezXD it is a scary thing to think about. First time i learned about the Yellowstone super volcano, was the Documovie Supervolcano, which was presented had a story to it, but intercut with that story were segments with real scientists talking about the science and what should be expected if it did go up. I remember it being a good movie
I think they should have opened and manned the ark that had a roof collapse onto it. I bet the people would have been safer deploying a slightly damaged ship than staying at the port.
Awesome reaction Emma! For some reason this movie is sorely overlooked by reactors. This movie and another great one The Doors with Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison is NEVER reacted to for some reason!
I was in my semi truck, parked in a field in Colorado, facing north waiting for yellowstone to let loose. Sadly, i did not get to scream "fly birdies, fly! Wilst enjoying the eruotion. Huge disappointment
Hello Miss Emma, this was an great Reaction Video from you , as always. I love the Movies of Roland Emmerich because they are excellent. He is ``The Master of Disaster´´ (His Nickname). Here some of his Movies. ``Independence Day´´, ``The Day after Tomorow´´, ``Godzilla´´, ``The Patriot´´, ``Moonfall´´ and more. I like Disaster Movies and i have a lot of them in my Collection. You are streaming this Movie, aren´t you? On the DVD there are deleted Scenes and a little Happy Ending. You remember the Cruise Ship? Stay safe and have a lot of Fun and Greetings from Austria. (not Australia)🤣🤣🤣
Great special effects, tense action, insane and nonsensical science. I am increasingly curious about the mind of the director Roland Emmerich, who makes a disaster movie like this every 2-3 years. Really enjoyed your reaction and engagement!
Thanks for the reaction. What I always thought is that Anheuser here is shown as a villain. Or at least villain-like. But I stand my ground that in the core he was right in many of his (planned) decisions. Ok, I also like Oliver Platt as an actor very much, but even so, I think in these kinds of scenarios unpopular decisions must be made. And he was mostly right...and you just can't save them all. He wasn't without fault and some decisions more than questionable of course.
Exactly. Everything he said was true. They didn't have all the time they thought they were. People would get overlooked in the chaos, which is why the one guy wasn't picked up. You can disagree with his reasoning and his decisions, but none of it came from an evil, or even a self-serving, place.
Imagine being in that position, having to make that decision. No easy choice, no clear solution. No matter what you choose most people will die unavoidably.
I remember when I first saw this I thought he was pretty scummy but now I realize he was just trying to be realistic and practical in a ridiculously bad situation
Scream away, Emma, scream away. It's a reaction video and you're doing great as usual. As for the movie, it's not exactly great cinema. Still remember the scene in the mountain with the zen monks.
If you have not seen it I would recommend for your next end of the world disaster movie you watch 'The Day After Tomorrow' (2004) which also has some very well made special effects as it won several awards in that category & of likely more interest to you BMI Film Music Award.
In this scenario I can hope I'd be the steely-eyed realist that Oliver Platt is. "Our objective is the continuation of our species." -IS there a higher goal for an individual capable of it..?
Love this movie - utterly preposterous in every respect but immense fun. Hollywood always takes some liberties with science for the sake of entertainment, but practically nothing here could happen as depicted. If the earth's interior was somehow heated the effects would be very different (although might actually trigger Yellowstone!) . But the main issue is that there is no mechanism for such heating which would not kill us first. Neutrinos of known types react so rarely with matter (most happily pass right through the Earth) that no solar flare activity would produce enough to have a significant effect. That would require a neutrino blast from a nearby core collapse supernova. These would be sufficient in number and energy to have an effect - but at the same time would strip our atmosphere and boil us from the inside within a few seconds. Even if some magical alignment of the planets created a new type of neutrino which reacted more readily with matter than any we observe, allowing soalr flares to produce them - we have the same problem. We are made of the same types of atoms as the Earth and would cook first ...
44:10 Since he’s Russian, he is presumably Eastern Orthodox , not Catholic. Orthodox Christians don’t make the sign of the Cross the same “direction” as Latin Rite Christians.
I found it to be way too fake, there is no way any of the situations they got into would end the way they did. Still hangin with Ya little Sunshine Emma. :) If you want some good movie ideas I could be of some assistance I have a extensive collection. ;)
nice reaction !! this one was my favourite !! I have a movie suggestion, it's a old Korean movie "200 pounds beauty (2006)" . pls have a look and tell me what you think bout it
Hi Emma, I see you're in a brunette mood today. Yum! Sultry. No matter, you look great whatever your look. So many close calls, wow! Crazy movie, but a lot of fun. I was getting concerned that you were going to have a nervous breakdown. I've heard the Canadian Post Office is on strike? Did I hear that right? If so, that sucks that they planned it to happen during the holiday season.-Thomas
By far one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I was laughing so hard at the exaggerated natural disasters from the get go, Yellowstone blowing up was by far the funniest scene in the movie. Way too funny.
Mayan calendar never had anything to do with the end of anything other than another cycle. End of one cycle around the calendar, beginning of another. Equivalent of midnight on December 31st.
Yes put thousands of lives at risk to save the dog, that makes sense I can see that happening, just like the selfish billionaires agreeing to let the riff raff on board. I did like the cameo by the Queen and the Corgis though. However much money they spent on this film it wasn't worth it, I was expecting Leslie Neilson and the blow up co pilot to make an appearance on the plane.
When my kids get older, I'm gonna tell them mommy and I went through all this. 😅😂
That's me, but with Independence Day. We will never forget :)
We survived a pandemic guys
I'm gonna do the same. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll tell my kids and grandchildren that I survived this mayhem and destruction. I'll do the same for Independence Day and Godzilla as well.
@StaticBlaster ok don't take it that far brother. You and I are men of culture so plz just do it for 2012
@@backtoback6213 Ok then.
Pretty amazing when you consider the special effects are better than many movies made today.
I used to be obsessed with 2012 movies, tv shows, and documentaries. So of course I liked this one.
Great reaction, Emma. Can't wait for the next one.

I saw this movie as a child and now as an adult, I realize that it is cinema, a masterpiece.
It's not a masterpiece. But it is a guilty pleasure of mine.
8:55 - Yes, 2012 received backlash for having a scene that resembled Princess Diana's death so much.
If I remember the full movie (yeah, it's even in the reaction at 9:45 too) they stated that it was the same tunnel. One British movie reviewer I watched back in 2015 said it was such bad taste to make that a reference.
26:13 if Yellowstone super volcano ever blows it’ll change the climate where you live anywhere in the world. You’ll know what the new ice age is.
If any super volcanic eruption happens in the handful of places they exist, it will reduce the Earths temperature. That's part of it being so super.
I first found out about Yellowstone at age 8 & the thought of it legitimately gave me sleeping problems for like 2 months lol
