    my new engine came with that same clutch basket, bbut the big bearing in the middle kept falling off while starting the bike, which totally destroyed my clutch pads. i ended up jb welding it to the actual spinning back part. has not fallen off in the few rides ive done so far.

      Same with my engine kit I bought a few months ago. The bearing would slide outward and the clutch gear would drop and grind on the housing. I took a big washer, drilled 3 holes for the pin's to go trough and put it between the bearing and the clutch plate. That works so far

    I had the same problem with the hp carb. I spent a month swapping jets, doing plug chops, etc........but to no avail. I ended up putting the stock carb on. Now it runs perfect again.

  • @dmoore0079
    @dmoore0079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The HP carb is a Dellorto SHA clone, which was a common carb used on several mopeds as original equipment. Evidently, they make/sell slides with different profiles to help with the inconsistent throttle response but I never bothered with them. Best I was able to do myself was to jet it fat and then file a couple of notches in the bottom edge of the slide to lean out partial throttle position. It works, but there are better inexpensive alternative carbs out there. I'm currently working with a 19mm KTM50 clone carb, and despite running fairly rich, it seems more promising than the PZ20. If I'm not mistaken, I think it even uses the same main jets as the NT/HP carbs.

    I had the same issues with the HP carb. Playing with the jet sizes was the only tuning I could do and like you I prefer to cruise than fly along all day at wide open throttle. My bike just generally ran better all round with the NT Speed carb in the end

  • @only1drumerboy184
    @only1drumerboy184 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Instead of a needle. These carbs you tune the idle mixture and midrange .by the angle on the bottom of the slide.compleley flat on the bottom of the slide is as rich as ideal and midrange gets.And to lean it you need a specefic angle .Go from flat to start then a soft angle were the surface on the front of the slide is longer then the backbit angles up tears the rear badsicaly .

    That first product the tacho, I had 2, first one kinda stopped working, only worked when manually pressing the back cover on it, got a new one and it's been in use for 10ish hours now and no issues, yet. It really does help on setting the idle, it's hard to tell when idle is dropping just by sound when it's already low, until it's too late.

    Be careful with the slide throttle that goes into the carburetor if you notice a little notch you put the cable through it will eventually cut it out and then the cable will pop right off of it and then you'll have no threat of the bike will run but you'll have no throttle response because it is slight throttle part goes into the carburetor through the cable that has a little piece of metal that prevents the cable from cutting through eventually it cuts it I've gone to 4 HP carburetors with the slide idle control piece cuts right through that metal aluminum throttle piece it'll just cable cut right through it

    I've recently started my motorized bicycle hobby with a cheap 2 stroke 66/80cc kit (bofeng carb, stock rag joint sprocket, hex bolted case) There seems to be a metalic rattling, kinda high pitched. your bike does it on this video. Is that part of the 2 stroking? as I've ordered new jets (china delivery to the uk sucks) and am gonna try a 65 as I've had recommended.
    Also, what do you recommend as an idle rpm? thanks

  • @GuilhermeTrojan
    @GuilhermeTrojan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    dude, since these engines works on wasted spark I believe its 2 sparks per revolution.you can rectify the eletric output off the engine to use the wasted spark energy to light up a light for the bike. thats why led works for these engines and standard incandencent bulds don't, because with the led you can use half the cycle of the alternating current for the diode and half don't, leaving it to the cdi.

    • @GuilhermeTrojan
      @GuilhermeTrojan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      but I may be wrong. Anyways your video is awesome! The quality is very high, congrats!

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the feed back. But from what I understand the first pules from the magnet charges the CDI, and the second pulse triggers the CDI to fire...
      If the spark was firing twice per revolution the tachometer would display 2X RPM. and this motor is definitely not spinning at 13,600RPMs

    General Question. I just built my first bike. First two tanks of fuel were oil rich as required. On my third tank I run a leaner oil mix per my instructions for my engine. First run I lost a ton of power. Now it won't even pull my hill at full throttle that it would pull half throttle during the oil rich break-in. Carb flooded and I pulled it off to check out. Cleaned the seat and now have no power. 4 stroking all the time. Any ideas???

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds fuel rich. Less oil will thin out the fuel and richen the mix. But you talked about the carb flooding so my guess is the float is sticking or there is junk in the inlet needle that's preventing it from shutting off.
      Go ahead and fully clean the carb, be sure to get the jet, and inlet.
      Be sure to run a fuel filter if you are not already.

      Im presently building a different concept motorized bike. Low , lightweight, stretched, minimal, laid down posture when riding, unique braking system and I do mean unique as in one of a kind. Much fabrication in full suspension set-up and electrics. Function over form. I’ve gone a long way on this and was wondering if I have a technical issue regarding anything if I’d get a response? Cause I have a few crazy questions about a “variable re-cussive” expansion chamber?

      I understand having a cheap readout may be handier than a phone in many cases, but doesnt have to be a main phone, could be an old one, or doesnt have to be expensive to run a gps speed function.
