Content creator & video editor friends of mine are all jumping back onto the Final Cut bandwagon, they are all loving the stability, performance, and ease of use - even more so now when it comes to render performance on their shiny new M1 MacMinis. I personally haven't used Final Cut since like FPCv7 or something like that back in the Leopard & Snow Leopard days...
Keen to know more about the heat extraction fan you're using - I have one in my server room - an in-line one I got from Bunnings (leading / major home hardware supplies in Australia) and it does lower the temps by between 5-10c on a standard 20c day. My server room is also much smaller than yours, and also quite packed with a full height rack (top two thirds populated)... Great vid!

I am about to move into my first house and I am checking out people's setups so I can prepare to build my own while taking as many things I like from the masses creativity. I have been using a server rack for my network management in my apartment, and also to house a ghetto-rig server made from donated old gaming PC parts (circa i7 3rd generation, overclocked). Thank you for the update, as I watched your first video and did have some of these questions. Admittedly, my server isn't virtualized in any way, and it is actually just running Win10 Pro and runs loads of processes for server applications, like Plex, Bitbucket, Teamcity, Octopus Deploy, and hosting ASP.NET web apps when I want to try things out. I have docker installed but haven't really learned how to use it yet...
All that is to say, thank you for your videos as they have given me some knowledge and ideas. I am totally going to start VMs at some point, and there is no doubt I will be backing up Wikipedia from now on!

I've worked a bunch with Axis cams. Really rock-solid, though the documentation on their different view modes was opaque enough that I had to open a couple of tickets and spend a lot of time in the server logs. They run Linux under the hood, and their firmware updates are essentially just disk image files, so you can provision a whole bunch of them remotely via API quite easily.
As for your cabling beauty, function trumps beauty every time. As long as airflow isn't affected, you're the only one who has to work on it!
How do the Ubiquiti switches handle stacking/clustering? For a home network where uptime isn't a priority, it's not a super-critical thing, but for my home lab, I'm deliberately purchasing two of everything for that purpose.

I totally get where you are coming from with Final cut Pro. The only reason I'm using DaVinci Resolve is I just can't afford macs anymore and Final cut doesn't run on windows. In the future I might jump down the hackintosh rabbit hole but not anytime soon.

Suggestion: install a Wall Mount rack cabinet for your servers so you can mount the horizontal to make servicing them easier. Take a look at Navepoint racks if your interested.
    Kudos on the Axis cameras.

I did that. Check out my old video. It took up way too much space.

Great Video! Enjoyed it thoroughly. One thing to add I think you may like to add to your HomeLab is Pi-Hole DNS Server.
As for the Alexa Echo; it is true that it's always listening and does send telemetry data to Amazon as does your Telsa, which you already mentioned. I would think you VLAN'ed it off and pigeon-holed it.

Yep. I meant to mention that. All IoT stuff is on another VLAN.

Would you show us how you used plex to stream your TV Channels? And to go into more detail? I’m really interested in this.

I've been running the Supermicro 5018D-FN8T at home and at work now for about a year. They are both running Untangle with the house running the HomePro license at $50/yr and the work box running the standard 50 device business license.
I really like Untangle over pfSense after using both but pfSense works as well and is free.

I tried untangle about a year ago and felt exactly the opposite.

@@TheGeekPub Different strokes for different folks. I just find the interface of pfSense to not be intuitive at all.
Web Filtering on Untangle is 4 or 5 clicks to turn on and the same goes for IPS/IDS and basically all of the other modules while it's much more involved in pfSense in my experience.
We use pfSense for our data center firewall and it works. I just prefer Untangle.

I don't have anything against untangle. I just don't think its "better".

Curious if you know how much power all of it draws and the cost of running it all is? Be curious to see a cost analysis of it all...

At one point I did the math. It's 0.065 cents per Kwh here in Texas. So something like $20 a month.
