    Lady Mormont is a brilliant politician for a ten year old. She publicly shames the most powerful lords in the north who didn’t help Jon against the Boltons. That forces Lords Manderly and Glover to save face by supporting Jon as King in the North. The first time I saw this episode I was yelling “King of the North” so loudly I woke my wife up who was sleeping upstairs (she wasn’t happy with me).

    The Red Wedding is finally avenged. Tywin died by crossbow like Grey Wind, Roose by knife to the heart like Robb, and Walder by throat slit from behind like Cat. The connection here is AMAZING. I know GRRM wasn't involved in later seasons, but he HAD to have told them specifics like this, because it's too perfect!!

    • @USCFlash
      @USCFlash หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really though...
      What about Talisa?
      And Tywin was not killed by Northerners or Stark associates
      Roose Bolton was not killed by Stark associates either. Both were killed by their sons.
      So the Red Wedding was not really avenged in full, since two of the three perpetrators of it, were not killed by related parties. It was accidental, almost (or incidental)
      Only Arya truly avenged it by killing Walder Frey and his crew.
      Technically, The Vale avenged it on the part of Sansa, against the Bolton forces and the Wildlings avenged it on the part of Jon Stark against said forces.

    • @mamaseesa3122
      @mamaseesa3122 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @USCFlash it was avenged because they died. If you can say that the Vale helped, then Tyrion helped as well. Call it karma or justice or whatever you want, but it was avenged.
      As far as Talisa goes, now you're just nit picking. The three main characters killed were Robb, Cat, and Grey Wind. If we start saying 'what about Talisa' then we need to start saying 'what about the foot soldiers' etc. And as far as GRRM was concerned, Talisa wasn't even there in the books.

    • @USCFlash
      @USCFlash หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mamaseesa3122
      Again, that is not avenging it.
      YOur points do not hold up at all.
      What about Talisa and Baby Stark? AGain, do they not get avenged.
      So now, Grey Wind is a more important character than the Queen of the NOrth and the unborn heir? Grey Wind was not one of the main characters. He is barely even in the show.
      Your points are silly.

      @@mamaseesa3122
      You may have posted your silliness elsewhere, but it is not "nasty" to take legitimate issue with a foolish, error strewn theory/ statement, by eviscerating it it with simple facts.
      AS for you getting a few dozen likes, so what? You can find people giving thumbs up for wrong answers in every thread on YT. You can get people who believe the earth is flat and the lunar landing was faked.
      Nah I am not in the minority, because you clearly do not know what the word "avenged" means.
      Let me help you:
      From Merriam Webster
      : to take vengeance for or on behalf of.
      So tell me, we know that none of the Starks took vengeance on Tywin or Roose BOlton. That is incontrovertible fact.....so the only other way that it was "avenged" would be if they had somehow arranged for it or brokered it, or sponsored it etc.
      Did Tyrion act on behalf of the Starks...to avenge Grey Wind, a wolf who is barely in the show, by killing his own father? No.
      Did Ramsay act on behalf of the Starks in any way, by killing his father? No.
      Your points do not hold.
      Here endeth the lesson.

    Enough is never said about how much Ned cared for his sister, not even revealing to Cat that Jon is his nephew. Or, the significance of Lyanna understanding what Robert's Fury would have done to the child. From the very first episode and into the first season, Robert's "Fury" toward Rhaegar is depicted and projected to all Targaryen's. Ned clearly understood the peril that would face Jon, having grew up with Robert (Ours is the Fury).
    Could you imagine taking that secret to the grave, and absorbing all the 'hate' for having a bastard son?

    The trial scene with the setting, the music, the building tension and the final explosion is my favorite scene from GOT. It's all the more incredible since clues to Cersei's plan had been placed during previous episodes.
    - Episode 6: at the beginning, Bran has multiple visions of the past and the future, and we see the wild fire spreading underground
    - Episode 7 : Olenna tells Cersei that she is surrounded by enemies and asks her if she plans to kill them all by herself :)
    - Episode 8: when Jaime speaks to Edmure in the tent, he tells him Cersei would be ready to reduce cities to ashes for her children
    - Episode 8: Cersei and Qyburn discuss an "old rumor" that Qyburn's little birds confirmed, saying there was much more than they thought
    - Episode 9: Tyrion tells Daenerys that the Mad King had scattered caches of wild fire under several places in the city, including the sept of Balor

    One of my gripes is how the High Sparrow went from a brilliant villain to an idiot at the end. He manipulates Cersi into rearming the Faith Militant, imprisons the Tyrel kids, betrays and captures Cersi, and gets Tommen on his side. Some good villain work there. Letting Cersi go was a big mistake but religious fundamentalists tend to underestimate women. He expected the walk of shame to crush Cersi. But in his defense he didn’t know about Frankenmountain or the Wildfire. But HS’s dumbest move was expecting Cersi to willingly show up to a trial that she knew she’d lose. He should have sent hundreds of Faith militant to the Red Keep to get her. Tommen would have ordered the palace guards to stand down and the rest of the king’s guards to stand aside. The Mountain would have been overwhelmed by numbers. Cersi probably would have blown up the place anyway since she couldn’t stop it and death (while killing her enemies) would have been preferable to whatever punishment the faith would sentence her to.

    Every time I see Arya suprise Walder Frey, I reflect on her path from home, to King's Landing, to the road north, the cupbearer to Tywin Lannister, her time with the Hound... and then assassin school with the Faceless Men..
    And now... she's back in Westeros! It brings tears of joy because.. well, OUR little girl isn't a little girl anymore!
    I know there are a lot of people who dislike the way the rest of the story unfolds, but don't listen to the haters! There are still so many great and terrible things to happen! The people who complain about it couldn't write stories, short or longform. One fact escapes everyone who will talk down on the rest of the story. Yes! When seeing this episode back in the day, I noticed the "serving girl" (Arya in disguise) was the only one of the women who gave Jamie the stink-eye instead of fawning all over him. I mentioned to the friend who was watching with me, that my gut was telling me it was Arya.

    Arya did know how her mom died. She heard the group of Frey men camping laughing about Rob and Cat's deaths. It was where she killed the guy by dropping the coin and the Hound got the rest.

    I said it in a reply to another comment, but the theme during the trial is the first time ever in Game Of Thrones where piano was used. That's one of the reasons why it feels different to the other themes on the show, because they've never done it before.

    I'm partway through the opening sequence as they begin the trial. The best part is watching Stefani try not to react to Lindsay and Ashley's comments as things unfold. That's always been the case throughout the series, but for some reason it's even more entertaining for this episode, knowing what's about to happen. The comments are just a little too "on the nose."😆

    @Stef you will HAVE to show them the R+L=J after Bran & Sam figure it out. The revelation that Ned put family above honor with regards to baby Jon changes everyone's perspective on Ned.
    He would rather keep his promise to his sister and carry the stain of cheating on his wife than let the truth come out. Like when Ned & King Robert were talking about Ned's bastard's mother, when King Robert told him he's too hard on himself, or when he resigned as Hand when King Robert wanted to kill Daenerys. In the books, when Ned is about to get executed his last thoughts were how he let Jon down.

    It's of small matter, but I've always contended that the final scene is NOT Dany sailing to Westeros but rather Dany sailing from Dorne to the Westeros destination revealed in season 7, hence the presence of Varys and the Dornish fleet in the last scene. It seems to me the only way that scene makes sense logistically. Although Dorne is not extremely far from Mereen, it just wouldn't make sense for Varys and the Dornish fleet to sail to Essos just to turn around and sail back to Westeros w/ Dany's fleet.

    I think it is "iffy" at best that in the story that has been set up that Cersei would be allowed to sit the Iron Throne, however this is the story they are choosing to tell: Cersei is Queen not because of inheritance but because there was no one strong enough to deny her ascension. Its not really by conquest, but it is a sort of conquest (sort of maybe).
