  • Evolution of Abrams Tank (M1 Abrams to Abrams X)
    Video Description: There are three main operational Abrams versions, the M1, M1A1, and M1A2, with each new iteration seeing improvements in armament, protection, and electronics. Let us see how the Abrams have evolved right from the M1 which entered service in 1980 up to the Abrams X which will enter service in the foreseeable future.

      Hey, Brother! Me too! I was in the DEP until I graduated in June of '86 and took my oath on the 16th. Wasn't it surreal to get off the bus and meet our drill sergeants in the same room they filmed "Stripes"? I was a member of the first 19K class. After basic and AIT at Ft Knox they sent me to Ft Carson and I got put in 4th Battalion 68th Armored S-3, driving the old man's M113A3 along with all the other S-3 shite. It was a great learning experience. After 18 months they sent me to Erlangen, Ferris Barracks. Awesome place! I was in Charlie Co. 4th Battalion 70th Armor when we went to Vilsec to get our brand new from the factory in Detroit M1A1s. Damn, it was like sex on Christmas morning, right? We were so lucky to get them new. It was an amazing tank. Did you serve in the Gulf War?

    The m1 is a fantastic platform designed from the start to accommodate a changing world . arguably the most battle tested tank in the world and a damn fine record to boot.there is argument that the challenger has a better record ,but to be fair the challenger in the Gulf war was deployed in far fewer numbers and saw far fewer engagements .

    Only issue is the AbramsX isn't an actual official Govt program, it's just a concept car (tank version) built by General Dynamics as a technology demonstrator. It's not bought by the Army, and only like one or two exist. Bits of it will likely be incorporated into future Abrams (M1A3?) but as is, the Abrams X itself is not going to be adopted (considering the Sep v4 itself isn't expected to enter service for a couple of years anyway, by the time the next model is coming out it'll be the 2030s and even AbramsX will be old news)

      The Turks lost 9 leopards in 2 battles and did not use them anymore. They were not destroyed by the ISIS, but by the Kurds (two of them were female) by the old Soviet Konkurs & Fagot ATGMs. One or two in the forehead. Germany recalled all vehicles for modernization. Abrams losses are much greater than a couple, even according to Wikipedia. There are no indestructible tanks at all. It is a myth. And the tanks of the first Abrams series are very different from the new series. The same for the Russian T90. The plant in Limo has not been producing new tanks since 19, it is only modernizing. I'm afraid that Abrams X is an attempt to do something new, like T14 but in a case not suitable for this. It is impossible to put out a lithium battery, I don’t understand the point of putting it in, complicating the design. Are you having a fuel crisis?
      I consider the Abrams of the latest modification (not X) to be one of the best and most dangerous tanks, it only needs to reduce its weight and allow it to shoot with guided projectiles / missiles and that's it

    • @BRANFED
      @BRANFED ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@romankovalev7894 thanks for the corrections.. i know the abrams losses are more than a couple but didnt look it up so i understated it a bit to be on the safe side
      the new M1a2 sep v4 is indeed a dangerous tank but at 75 tons, its so heavy to be all but useless in a war in eastern europe unless they bring along an engineer battalion everywhere they go. the bridges in eastern europe are rated for like 45 tons on average or so ive gathered. sure, the tank can kill any known threat at a range of 3v to 4 km but it suffers a severe mobility problem if it must cross rivers because of the weight
      on a side note
      i still think the t90m looks better than an m1a2.. even a leapard 2 looks better imo.. always thought the m1 was an ugly tank

      We have different engineering schools, different theaters of war. The Russians looked at the problems of the heavy Tiger and decided that the technological advantage was not worth the extra weight. Especially when you consider that most tanks are destroyed not by other tanks, but by aircraft / helicopters, a little less often by anti-tank systems. And now is the era of the development of small attack drones. In Russia, they hold international tank competitions (tank biathlon), I would call your team on Abrams, it’s very interesting to see, but we have tense relations between countries
