Turns out Filipinos have way better taste when it comes to offroad than the US. Most of those trucks actually look usable unlike the pavement princess crap we get here in Houston TX. Really digging those deep 5 spokes on those raptors
The terrain in the Philippines is very unforgiving, with vast tropical rainforest, 4th largest coastline in the World way bigger than the US means lots of sand! Tons of of active volcanoes, frequent landslide due to typhoons, the list goes on. So it makes sense the 4x4 culture has always been to conquer nature.
not sure about the US... But in PH, we really got either really bad urban roads, or just no roads at all. There's a lot of just utilitarian mechanics and car communities here. There's a lot of driving/riding groups that travel the whole country to push/test their vehicles, and just to tour the country.
I'm a Filipino here, and yes I agree to this 😅. We Filipino's live in an environment where rural areas are dominant while some areas are occupied with urban lifestyle And yes apart from a tiny fraction of tuner cars, we have a sh*t ton of loud motorcycles 😅
@@zaiidtrazo3042 Most of are roads are in pretty good condition, off-road is more of a hobby here than a necessity, you can get anywhere you need to in any car. Some areas of the US have it worse than others, but 95%+ is very well maintained. You have to purposefully go out of the way to need ANY real off-road capability, especially where I'm from (very large urban area). Even in more rural areas, most roads are paved, just usually asphalt or gravel instead of concrete. It's still extremely common to see lifted and widened trucks with like 30" rims, and knobby low-profile 'mud tires', and all of the LED underglow. Some of these guys I see spend over $100k for useless trucks that LOOK off-road, 100% paved roads.
There's also a lot of trails and campsites you can go to. We are part of an offroading club, and we go to trails and campsites a few times a month, sometimes weekly. There's also a lot variety: mud, sand, rough roads, jungle trails, boulder crawls, river crossings, all within a few hours from metro manila. There's a lot of places to go to and a lot of stuff to do for offroaders and overlanders in the Philippines, it's a very worthwhile hobby to get into if you live here.
The most impressive part of this video is how you’re able to walk through the lot wearing a black shirt at noon in one of the worst heat waves in the country. Great video!
Lived in Philippines for 3 years and love the carscene there. We had a C5 Corvette with 24000km on it and a Strada overland build. I loved the mini van scene back then with Nissan Cube and Toyota Bb`s. Today its Suzukis ... I agree it fun to see something diffrent. Not just Skylines and Supras. Thanks for sharing this with us Chad!!
Super cool show and some really sweet girls too. I'm diggin those little vans, the jeepneys and the off road trucks. I don't think I have ever seen a bigger mobile speaker setup EVER that was insane.
Nissan Skyline never did anything for me personally. The micro vans were more impressive to me! I would rather have one of trucks than a skyline ! Skylines were not popular until the Fast and Furious movies!
I see some people in the comments questioning how Filipinos can afford these type of vehicles. They say things like "Filipinos earn a very small amount everyday so where are they getting the money from?". The keyword here is the population. The Philippines is currently at 118,000,000. 20% to 25% are considered poor by the government but recently there's a survey that said the Filipinos who considers themselves poor are at 45%. That's a lot but don't forget that it's not "everybody". There are still millions of people in the Philippines who are earning much better like the doctors, lawyers, landowners, business owners, people who works in the tech industries like the computer engineers, people who works in the local entertainment industry like the filmmakers and celebrities, even the local content creators like TH-camrs and TikTokers, etc.
The statement that most Filipinos are poor is just a fact any way you try to dissect it. You can put it on a graph,a pie chart, or just simple numbers and it's still a fact.
@@truss6282 It's because of overpopulation, majority of people in the Philippines are not needed and are not supported by its infrastructure and resources so they are left with scraps. It's unfortunate but that's how it is
@@truss6282 I'm telling the truth here. Assuming that EVERYBODY IS POOR just because a country is considered poorer than it's neighbors is illogical. How many cars do you see in the video? 100? 200? even if there's 1,000 cars in there, that's still not a lot. But there are so many people in the comments questioning how a Filipino can afford something like that when realistically speaking based on the population itself, there's nothing shocking about it. The viewers who are like you are just assuming that the average Filipino earning the average minimum wage is the one who owns of those cars when in reality, the Filipinos who owns those cars are in the minority because they are earning a lot of money. Way more money than the average Filipino guy and Filipino girl working in the malls for 8 hours. So even if you say 90% are poor and living in the slum areas. There's still that 10% who are living large and that's about 11,800,000 out of the 118,000,000 population in the Philippines. That's still a lot of rich people in one country. If you compare that percentage in European countries where the population is only about 10,000,000 or less then the Philippines has more rich people just because of the population. Do you get that?
Chad, thank you for bringing us to the Philippines and showing us their car scene through your lens. Thanks for all your hardwork. It’s never a boring episode on your channel. Khor Pun Mak Krup 🙏🤙😉
