I am behind on your videos Michael hope you’re doing well and overcoming challenges as they occur. I just got back from a 114 mile section in the AT. His Bless
So glad you can get back on trail. These interruptions can be God orchestrated delays, so maybe you needed some additional rest. Praying for no more issues. ❤🙏🥾
Hi Mike and Leo, I'm sorry you had a frustrating day, and thankful that you weren't way out into the woods when it happened. The people of Maine are just amazing. Their motto is "Maine, the way life should be." I always love seeing that sign when I go up there. Thankful that you had the 2 Jen's as angels and that you got back on your way. Even though you probably didn't want it, an extra day of rest never hurts! Could you have had Z-Packs send one up to Shaw's in Monson? (I'm sure you're past there by now, but it was my thought) Everything happens for a reason, right? God Bless you both.
I’m so thankful this didn’t happen while you were in the 100 mile wilderness! This is really a blessing in disguise! Anxious to find out how the new pack works out…Another day of rest is probably a good idea! …your grand finale outfit… you nailed it! …keep pushing those final miles..Hike on!!
Fwiw, I started with a Kelty Tioga external frame pack over 35 years ago and had it until a rat ate it sometime in the last decade. Never felt under-packed once in my life. The only point of failure seemed to be at pin and ring kinda joints, which are so easily fixed it's not worth mentioning. It takes a different technique than an internal frame, and the big difference is that you just do not want to even try technical climbing in it, or even hand over hand. For gnarly summit attempts you just make a base camp and unfold a day pack. Seems like nobody rocks an external anymore, but it has several big advantages.
Good choice to go back and take care of getting a different backpack. Hostel stepped up to get Mr. Construction Zone on his way. Another good meal a plus, I'm sure.
Great final hiking outfit! Glad that your back back broke so close to the hostel and that they could help you out with a loner pack! We plan to camp in that area the end of August, I’ll have to check the hostel out.
Hey Michael, based on your ping pong skills, I’d suggest to stick to Jiu-Jitsu and Hiking!! 🤪🤣 All seriousness, glad your pack situation seems resolved and I’m figuring you’re VERY close to summiting Mama K. Good luck!! 👊🏻
So sorry about your back pack! I hope this one works out and isn’t too uncomfortable for the rest of your journey. I can’t blame Leo at all! I couldn’t walk over that grate in my bare feet😂😂 Watching your hike so far in Maine makes me want to get up there and hike so much! I love those pine forests! I don’t know why. Maybe in some past life I lived in one? 😂😂 Not that I believe in that stuff but I just think they are so beautiful! Praying everything is going really great for your last leg of the adventure! Hug Leo for me🥰🥰🥰🥾🏕️🌲🌲🌲
One of the worst things to happen happened in the best place. Assume the sketchy road they took to get you back on trail meant less of a walk. Can't even imagine what it would have been like if you were miles from a takeout point & even worse ascending or descending a peak. Hope the new pack works out for the remainder of your hike.
So...just curious...is ZPacks going to replace that with a new pack, on Warranty...or asking you to ship it back in and they will do an "as new" repair on it?
Pretty snazzy hiking outfit. Very cool. I wouldn't want to walk across those grates either if I was barefoot. Dad to the rescue. Leo looks pretty heavy, too, solid doodle. That stinks about your backpack again. Im surprised they dont offer you a new one. Was it new when you started the trail or the one you've been using since before the AT? I think you can say you're rough on gear, not just shoes, lol. At least you're getting more nutrition before moving on. Im sure at this point on the trail that the body is stressed and nutrition depleated. Big hugs to our Leo❤ Good luck to the camera guy😂 ✌️🫶
At least you weren't too far away when your pack broke! Nice hostel and the food looked great..did you cook that steak? It looked yummy! Glad you and Leo got some much needed rest 🙏 continued prayers for a safe finale..
Bro same thing happened to me last 100 miles of the Sheltowee trace trail. I pulled all four of them out and finished the trail and still use without them today. But it’s not my go to pack. You got 2000 miles out of it which is good for zpack.
I've always been on the fence about the Z-Packs packs. After seeing your repeated failures with one on this hike I'm now definitely off the fence completely and will never buy a Z-Packs pack.
Check into the new Mystery Ranch RADIX, lightweight backpack; available in 47-liter and 57-liter capacities. I have the 47-liter size...it's a fantastic backpack.
My U.L.A Circuit survived a triple crown and still going strong and could survive more thruhikes but switched to a Durston packas it's lighter and has two thruhikes on it and still mint.
Sorry about the pack, but great that it happened so close and you had a great hostel to go back to and they had a reserve pack. But you left us hanging on the ping-pong ... 10-8 ... did you win??? The way your opponent was holding has paddle, it looked like he wanted to add spin to the ball, but didn't really seem to know how. I played A LOT in college, but only a few times a year these days.
It's the extreme ultralight Cult. I'd much rather have a backpack that may weigh up to a pound more in weight, but carries the loads much more comfortably and will last me for years of use. My lightweight backpack choice was the new Mystery Ranch RADIX 47-liter.,,,just a little over 3-lbs, yet very durable and backed up by MR's stellar Warranty and repair center.
Where does Leo sleep when you are at a hostel! You guys are doing awesome in your hike. Sorry about your pack . Glad you are able to get another! Patience goes a long ways. One day at a time. 😊

Welcome back!
For someone who sucks at hiking, you've made excellent time! Was a pleasure crossing paths with you and the pup in the 100 Mile Wilderness -Zeb Sobo
Great meeting you
Bummer on the backpack wearing out but great example of the trail providing. I know we'll be seeing you on top next to the sign shortly!
That's the plan!
So glad you can get back on trail. These interruptions can be God orchestrated delays, so maybe you needed some additional rest. Praying for no more issues. ❤🙏🥾

Interesting
Thank goodness you weren't too far out on the trail! Love the outfit!! 🧡
Yes! Thank you!
The Maine Roadhouse is one of THE BEST hostels on trail. I’m also a firm believer that what happens on trail happens for a reason.
It is
Good choice to go back and take care of getting a different backpack. Hostel stepped up to get Mr. Construction Zone on his way. Another good meal a plus, I'm sure.
For sure
Glad your positive attitude kept you going. You are almost there!!
Thanks
Glad you found a temporary solution
Thanks
Ducktape
That wouldn't work
Love the new finale clothes!!
Thanks!
Pretty accommodating folks, all around, from the pack company to the owners of the hostel. Hope that 'new' pack works out. Be well, stay safe. 🥾
Thanks
The Jen’s are the best!
They are

I carry a crown 2 60 and love it. I hope it does well for you.
I didn't love it

👍 Dang Zpacks. I’m using same pack in 60 ltr. Short trips though. No problems yet but I’m questioning my faith in it now. lol
Remember he used it for 2000 miles
Short trips it will last for years
Hopefully, this delay kept you out of the storms leftover from Beryl. 🤞
No storms
👏
Thanks

Yea I will do a video about it
My (now retired) service dog doesn't like grates either. Grates must really be uncomfortable to their paws.
Yeah he's not a fan
I've always been on the fence about the Z-Packs packs. After seeing your repeated failures with one on this hike I'm now definitely off the fence completely and will never buy a Z-Packs pack.
Durston packs and tents are far superior with heat bonding. Zpaks gear always fails on thruhikes.
😢🤦♀️☹️❤❤❤❤❤
Glad I can help

That Zpacks backpack is junk. You have had problems with it all the way up trail. Who cares if they offer to fix it. Doesn't help you on trail
My U.L.A Circuit survived a triple crown and still going strong and could survive more thruhikes but switched to a Durston packas it's lighter and has two thruhikes on it and still mint.
We made it work

I won both games
That pack is an upgrade compared to zpacks
I disagree
@@ISuckatHiking at least the fame cant fall out randomly
What a great hostel... nice place to have had the Back back break. You could have been half way up Katahdin. .
True!
Zpaks is garbage. Surprised people still buy their gear.
To light weight to last
