I think I mentioned before that I've doing the Abbey Road News Years Day tradition for over 45 years. Always the first album of the year. I picked up a French AR pressing a few years ago. I nailed my pressing down to 1973. From what I understand they used the UK masters. However, mine starts in the "normal" way. Also, Happy New Year!

Book recommendation: THE BEATLES 1963 by Dafydd Rees. I think the Mazz said it's not yet published in US, but worth watching for. Chronicles every day of that year for the Beatles but 50% of it is fans' and musicians' memories of strange encounters with the Beatles, some fab anecdotes, superbly researched. There was a long delay in UK publication and by that time, several of the anecdotalists had died, being in their 70s and 80s now, yet remembering their teens in their stories. Very moving on that account. The author's researcher just reached them in time to record their memories. One of the best Beatles books I ever read. It has added nostalgia value for folks raised in the UK of an older generation, but even discounting that, I think Americans interested in early Beatles at that crucial transition moment would get a lot from this. One criticism: small font is hard on the eyes. Only Bob the cat could read this book without squinting.
Brian, apologies if you have already covered this, but I would love a video where you show off your record collection. Also, those are cool copies of Abbey Road. My least favorite abbey road is the giles martin one. Too polite. My favorites are from 1970 and 1976.
Hi Edward, I'm not sure I'd be able to show every single record (i'm up to about 4,000 yikes!) but I could make a video showing the shelves and other storage spaces. I'll think about that for sure!
The Giles Martin remix of 'I Want you' fades slightly too, at least energy-wise it sounds like he faded it quickly so that it would sound like the Lennon cut-off

I THINK the pressing from Italy with the fade is one of 2 pressing from 1969, not 1970. One mis spells the song as "I Wan You (She's So Heavy)".

I have the exact same French pressing but it doesn't have the YEX Matrix numbers the uk. I wonder if still the same cut tho?
